First of all, I'd like to say that Marvin and Ron are great guys, and good photographers. The stars are applied to expectation over delivery. The photos that were taken were good, and these guys were fun to work with. Essentially, I would recommend them, unless you have specifications. So, now I'll explain why I can only give two stars.
I didn't care much about our wedding photos. I opted for a photography student or disposables on the tables, but my wife really wanted a pair of professional photographers for the wedding. She didn't want our memories to be up to chance; and she had a certain picture in mind that she really wanted. She dreamed of having a picture of my face when I first saw her hit that aisle, and a picture of hers as she saw me. We hunted for two photographers and were happy to find two that were affordable. Before we signed with sigma six, my wife made sure with them that they could get the shot she wanted. We were told, "no problem." My wife (as a bride to be) was paranoid, and made sure each time we met with Marvin and Ron to bring up the shot and make sure they hadn't forgotten and were still up to the task of getting it. They said not to worry. They also requested that we tell our friends in families not to take pictures during the ceremony, as it's distracting and sometimes they end up with a bunch of phones and cameras in their shots. We agreed, even though this bummed out my aunt (she prides herself on getting a picture of the grooms face as he sees the bride for the first time in any family wedding she attends).
The wedding comes and goes (quite awesomely, but that's to be expected). We get our photos back...and the shot's missing. There are good photos of my wife coming down the aisle, but none of my face. The only requested shot is not there. We go through our photos (300) three times over, thinking that we must've missed it, but it's not there. Before we freaked out, I contacted Marvin and Ron. We thought that they had the shot, and just forgot to put it in our roll, or maybe they didn't get a great shot, but my wife didn't care...that was the shot she wanted, in any capacity she could get it in. But, there was no shot. Turns out, they had completely forgotten to get the shot (after all the times my wife brought it up). Again, the only shot that was requested. Bringing this up with Marvin and Ron was an odd affair. They were very apologetic. However, part of their consolation was "we've missed the first kiss before." That blew my mind, but not as much as the next question..."ask your attendees, maybe one of them got the shot." We were specifically asked to have family keep their phones/cameras away during the ceremony! The kicker for me, is that there is a shot of everyone looking down the aisle at my wife, and my aunt looking at me. If we would have disregarded their request for the ceremony, my aunt would have gotten the shot they missed! Marvin and Ron did try to make it up to us, but the shot is gone.
I'll give Marvin and Ron credit as being fun to work with and good photographers. My writing this is not to put down, but to inform. There was one, very important shot request made by my wife and I, and it feels brushed aside or downright neglected. For quality of photos and friendliness, I would recommend Sigma Six. But if there are any specifications that you or your spouse have for your photos, I would recommend someone else. I hope this is helpful. read more
