Jim had all the right equipment, knew his Rainsoft systems very well. His first step was to verify the water was not softened. (It wasn't.) He pulled out his test kit - verified we had a 32-grain water hardness. Previous testing indicated 35 grains of "hardness". (Here in the Texas Hill Country - we have wells and aquifer-fed water. Lots of dissolved solids - and it kills our appliances over time....) Jim verified - yes - hard water. Then he set about fixing our old (but lifetime-guaranteed!) Rainsoft water softener. He had all the parts and disassembled/re-assembled the controlling mechanism quickly. Not a trivial fix at all - but he did it really fast - with a full explanation along the way. Jim is super-enthusiastic, loves his job, loves his company, and loves the Rainsoft product. His humor and light touch are infectious. (Heck - I have him a totally-cool "Man Hug" before he headed out.) Now the bad news - Rainsoft would love it if we would upgrade our water softener mechanism to the latest/swooshiest model. WE WOULD LOVE TO UPGRADE TOO! But their standard pricing is extremely high - so it's a question of how much extra do we want to spend for soft water? And the current unit has that lifetime guarantee - so it's still easier/cheaper to keep it crutching along. Over the past 18 years, we have sent many neighbors and friends to Rainsoft (in Bulverde, Boerne, and from work/school). But with "upgrade pricing" as high as it is - I'm not sure we can recommend them long-term. JDMc

Sweetwater installed the system 5 years ago and it has never properly worked for any kind of longevity. Sweetwater will then charge you $300+ plus to come out and "fix it" then proceed to blame the customer for not having their technician over more often. I'm not spending my hard earned money on having to call a technician out every 3 months to fix the water softener. At some point we hoped Sweetwater would take accountability for their worthless system but unfortunately we were told the system is working "just fine". If you choose Sweetwater these are the results you will get.

Safe showers left their bathroom unfinished and unusable. If you want a custom bathroom wheelchair accessible, DO NOT trust Safe Showers to the job. They are not capable of handling a custom bathroom, it's prefab materials that are not designed for zero entry like they needed.

After months of trying to fix it we had to demolish glass tile in two showers that the contractor screwed up. The owner did help me prove to the contractor it was his fault but he refused to use his insurance and it was not worth suing because we would " have to crime scene " for about two years. With mold growing demolition was in order and the owner said she would give me tile the second at her cost but that was not the truth. I begged her to give me a strong discount because 16,000$ in tile went into the dumpster but she would not. She said 7$ a foot was the cost of the tile I wanted and that was her cost. My new contractor found the same product ( not glass- such a nightmare I was too afraid) for 6.50$ a foot, so thanks for nothing Design Materials!! No class at all.

My husband and I searched high and low for a dining table, but couldn't find one that "wowed" us…read more We loved the look of a solid slab table but didn't want to pay $7,000 or more for one large enough to accommodate 10 people. So, we decided to build our own custom table. Based on the wonderful work that he did with our kitchen, we went back to Jonathan to see if he was interested in taking on the project. He said "yes" and went on to help us build the most beautiful walnut slab table (105 inches long/42-50 inches wide). It consisted of two bookmatched walnut slabs, each weighing over 200 lbs each. It was a more difficult project than Jonathan expected due to the size of the wood pieces, but he did a great job of finishing the wood so the beauty of the walnut really shined through. We collaborated from start to finish, from picking out the right slabs to finalizing the cuts and the degree of "polish". We're thrilled with the results and look forward to having large dinner parties (as long as our friends don't scratch the table :))

I paid $38 for a child's fiesta dress but she looked so cute in it that it was worth it. There is also a Dia de los Muertos museum and large area of items to purchase. If you can't find it here I doubt it is available. The whole place is a bright color explosion and the staff is helpful and available. There is a little eatery inside that I will review separately. All said and done this Fiesta at North Star is a bright visit to a fun place with that Tejano vibe that makes SATX fabulous.

The store is bold, busy, and totally festive. The space is larger than it looks from the outside...deep and wide. There is virtually no dead space. Everywhere you look you find a new discovery...handcrafted items that reflected a deep connection to Mexican and Latin American culture. The store has a wide range of authentic Fiesta merchandise and cultural goods. In fact, I saw the tissue paper flowers, large and small, throughout the store. I have fond memories of placing one the flowers or a band of flowers in my hair during the Battle of Flowers or Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA) parades.
