We have been with Master Leon close to a year. We attend all of his summer camps and my son has become extremely more focused follows directions better and will be more prepared for first grade as a result of attending this summer's camp I also want to say compared to some other martial arts studios in the area such as Victoria martial arts and others. I really feel he is a little bit more expensive but worth every dime if you want a true instructor a lot of other places quickly move faster promote the children into the next belt without them really gaining the necessary skills or even being ready but I think they do it just to increase momentum more than really training them but I feel Master Leon really assesses as a kids at which level they are or should be at and then appropriately test them so I really appreciate that overall he's an outstanding instructor. I just couldn't be happier and I'm so glad I found him in fact I drive 15 minutes to his martial arts studio when I have other choices that are literally three minutes away.

This review is so long overdue!…read more Like many frustrated and concerned parents, the pandemic left us feeling worried and often time worries about the health safety and mental well-being of our children let ourselves. The first few months was chaotic but after the reality settled in, I could see that my once, bright, happy, outgoing kids were started to really struggle social and academically. The once equally fun personalities had become more introvert, restless and disengaged with activities that use to bring them joy. They were calling out for help and support that only in-personal and social interactions amongst peers could Bering back the joy they once thrive and grew from. One day I went to grab sushi and a new place called Ichiban. It happened to be next door to Victory Martial Arts. I sat in the car and listened to this strong, confident, yet encouraging voice children of various ages out side all with masks. I listened to the words he had the students repeat. And he asked, "How do you come when you mom or day calls you at home?" And all the student tell, "First and fast!!" And they the instructor went on to describe the different scenarios that this technique would be required to succeed at home but also a sign of respect to your parents! He had me at the world "Respect!" I came back with my husband and kids the next nights and this instructor was passionate, committed and genuinely of help these kids succeed not only in martial arts, but at home, school and later on with life skills! My husband and kids loved it. We immediately quit the jiu jitsu that my kids were in for 3 years. Unfortunately they were no longer engaged in anymore. And our family was in desperate need of a family based program that incorporates life skills and lessons in addition to being able to defend you safety and well being mentally and physically l. And after one year, we are absolutely in awe of the tremendous positive role and impact that My Linderman and his team continue to play in our lives. My kids are learning incredible life lessons we thought were too challenging to achieve at this age. Vma-Mr Linderman at Victory gives the extra caring guidance parents need to help our kids spread their wings and fly to the highest mountains! Aiden learned that "In order to become stronger you have to be willing to push yourself beyond your limits." From that, Aiden was recognized for his efforts and asked to join the more advanced "Black Belt Prep" class Kylie learned that you have to earn the privilege to test with the rest of your team at the time of belt promotion. "Giving up is the only sure way to fail." So, she had to push herself to earn the opportunity to test. But in fact, Master Aaron only has 5 stars there too. Master Aaron also teaches any student - even with disabilities. I was hit by a felony dui hit and run. I was in the hospital over 5 weeks. I have permanent damage to my body, memory issues, balance issues, severe pain. I actually can't even walk normally anymore. Even if you can't walk normally (like my issues), Master Aaron will still find a way to include you into the class. He will adjust the program so even a person with disabilities can still be the best possible. If you or anyone has disabilities or special needs, Master Aaron won't leave you behind. If you're already athletically gifted, he'll improve you. If you can't even walk normally, he'll still improve you. I found three academies in the area, and Gilroy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was the closest one to my hotel. I went on their website, signed the waiver, and that same day Anthony called me to check in. I told him I was in town for two weeks for work, and he said, "Then you can just come train with us for free." That alone really impressed me. He explained how the classes were organized and let me know that Mondays were takedown-only. Since I was mainly looking to roll, he told me that Tuesday through Saturday were roll days. When I arrived, I had a little trouble finding the academy because it's tucked away upstairs inside a building. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by one of the students, who was extremely friendly. He asked if it was my first time. I told him I had been training for about four months, and he pointed me toward Anthony. I introduced myself to Anthony, and then I started stretching out. The class was exactly what I was looking for. There were a lot of students, the atmosphere was great, and Anthony provided excellent instruction. After class, I told Anthony that I was definitely coming back, but I needed to wash my gi first. He said, "Come here," took me to the back room, asked what size I wore, and when I said A4, he literally handed me a gi and said, "It's yours." I was honestly astonished. I didn't expect that at all. Anthony went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, and that gesture really showed me what kind of person and teacher he is. Anthony is a true blessing, and I'm grateful for the experience. We did our research both within and outside the city for jiu jitsu gyms, and decided to become members here since its an affiliated Caio Terra gym, with International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation certified trainers. From the training coaches to the students, everyone fosters a supportive environment during training, regardless of the level or reason you're there, whether fitness or self defense, entry level or advanced belt. Coach Anthony and Kyle are amazing with the children, and all of the coaches are patient during the kids classes, with children of all ages. The kids come here and are able to learn, develop a sense of comradery, gain confidence, and they all have a lot of fun together. The coaches are very knowledgable and experienced, and willing to share their experience with the students. We're very fortunate to have found a home at Gilroy BJJ and look forward to every training!
