This place is a joke. One of those places that looks good on the outside but is really rotten…read moreinside. Bay Club thinks of itself like some kind of big-shot, but many of its locations are managed worse than a low-scale budget gym. Members are treated like cash cows, while serious complaints (including sexual harassment) are brushed aside and invalidated. I was a member and visited many of its South Bay and Bay Area locations, including Santa Clara, Los Gatos, Redwood Shores, San Francisco, Gateway, Fremont, Pleasanton, Walnut Creek, and Boulder Ridge Golf Club. Out of all of them, Fremont was the only location I found remotely acceptable. The others had major issues. Paying members: Members are treated like cash cows. Bay Club puts a price on everything, constantly raises membership rates, and still fails to provide the quality of service, competent management, or basic respect those prices should buy. Respectful members: To the respectful and considerate members: hats off to you. Thank you for contributing to positive experiences. Sexual harassment: Unfortunately, these respectful members are often overshadowed by several creepy individuals whose behavior management is unwilling to address. As a result, the overall environment, especially at Santa Clara, SF, and Redwood Shores, could feel like a petri dish for creeps because their behavior remains unaddressed. Management absolutely does not take action when concerns about sexual harassment are raised; they are only concerned assessing whether the situation could result in a lawsuit. Management: Management routinely invalidates members' concerns instead of addressing them seriously. Santa Clara's manager, Laurie Miner, also appeared never to be present on site. I was told that she barely visited the gym and primarily worked from home. Just like many wrote here on Yelp, her responses have been quite shady for years. Employees: Many employees are inexperienced and unable to answer very simple questions about their own gym. It feels as though Bay Club intentionally hires interns to cut costs. Pickleball: Some of the serious players act very arrogantly. A shared club facility should not be treated like a private court reserved for a self-appointed elite group. Locker-room: Too many members behave as though they are in a private bathhouse, with little regard for normal boundaries and shared-space etiquette. Bay Club may look polished from the outside, but behind the branding is a very poor management. For the amount of money they charge, the experience was absolutely not worth it.

Even then, I think peak hours aren't as bad as other gyms. Kind of bummed I have to cancel since I'm moving away. Now I have to find another gym I also had scheduled some personal training since I was struggling with consistency working out. I trained with Michael D and he was a great coach. He put me on a program that's repeatable and easy to add on to. I definitely recommend scheduling some personal training with him

But moving forward, there will hopefully be something in place to protect the attendees from heat related illness in the summer. Other regulars have told me this happens every year during heat waves and have also complained about it. Going forward, don't wait for bad reviews and attendee complaints before something is done. Some folks aren't afraid of going to corporate. ORIGINAL: This is my gym and I spend a lot of time here attending lots of classes, so this makes me really upset to have to change my review, but I don't think anyone will listen otherwise. The AC in the group fitness room has been broken off and on the last two weeks, to finally break completely on Monday. Two weeks ago, I had symptoms of heat stroke from trying to push through one of the classes during this heat and almost went to the hospital. I talked with the front desk about the dangers of heat sickness, especially since most people who attend the classes are elderly. I said that if the AC is not going to be working in that room, we really shouldn't be having class. My thermometer I brought stated the room was 90 degrees, not even counting everyone's body heat. The AC has been broken all this week and nobody knows anything about when this will be repaired. It went from "maybe" being fixed from Tuesday, to Wednesday, and now to "maybe" next week. Meanwhile, the instructors have to be up there in a sometimes 70 person class (of mostly elders) in 90 degrees with no air. Opening all the doors does absolutely nothing. This is a dangerous health hazard. One wall fan isn't going to cut it. We need someone to actually care and have backup generators or at the very least, a tech on site to repair things like this. Meanwhile, front desk is nonchalant and giving us the run around because the AC works perfectly fine everywhere else BUT the group fitness room. I get there's certain things you can't help, but you need to at least have something there as a backup to ensure attendees are safe. I can no longer attend the classes I love due to being susceptible to heat illness. People are in danger of doing cardio in 90 degrees. It just is not acceptable.

Occasionally you will have a couple people who come into this league knowing how to play volleyball but are there anyways for a ego boost. If you are new to volleyball, read here. Yes this league may be a good starting point as it's very beginner level play, it's good for work teams and meeting new people. But you won't want to be here for long. There are the occasional try-hards that will come into the league to feel good about themselves by hitting hard and running plays on a net that's lower than women's height. Another downside is that some of these players think they can play but in fact they are very dangerous and make it very unsafe. Landing under the net and causing ankle sprains when you block is very common here. So play smart, watch out for others. If you have some volleyball experience and understand the game, read here. This league is very poorly ran. You have one ref that does not understand the rules of volleyball. No calls are made, clear doubles where the ball is spiraling, crazy players who jump and land under the net, players touching the net and lifts. You call your own lines, so in and out calls are all on you and the other team. The ref literally is there to just blow the whistle for serve and then flip the score. They dont even have anyone setting up the nets for you as well, so you need to set it up yourself. The net is literally lower than womens height. So if you're here playing with some new friends who are learning to play, have some integrity to play to the level of others and be safe. I played in this league before it became Zog (Dynamic sports) id say it has changed but not for the better. Same stuff as it was 5-6 years ago. If you are looking for some better play there are other leagues out there. Campbell Community center used to have a good one they may or may not still be running. Then there's IVL if you're looking for competitive play. Zog by far is the most expensive league and the total amount of games you play in the season is less then all these other leagues I mentioned. So if you're factoring bang for your buck. Zog is definitely not that.

I turned 21 in August, so apparently even though I am of proper age I needed to be a few months older to qualify for this league. Can anyone explain an intelligible reason for this?

Unfortunately, outsiders can't pay for a membership. The facility is uber clean; I'm a germaphobe so I'm so thrilled it's clean. It's been around for years but smells brand new; like it was just built. Incredible amount of space and no shortage of equipment from cardio/weight machines, free weights, stretching equipment, etc. there's a pool, sauna, steam room, many showers and lockers with built in locks, towels, hair dryers, etc. They offer classes and affordable personal training. Most quality trainers at other places charge $90/hour. Here, if you buy a package can be as low as $70. You can pick/switch your trainers and easily book on the app. All the trainers and workers here seem very nice and not judgmental so you don't feel insecure here. My trainer, Anthony, has been wonderful working around my back and neck pain and learning my body to prevent me from flaring up and giving up. I have 3 gripes, but all fixable! 1. It's not open weekends. From the older comments, sounds like it used to be open Saturdays so I hope they change this. 2. As much space as this facility has, there's no overnight rental lockers. I have to lug a heavy bag with my clothes and toiletries every morning and I have chronic back pain so it's especially not fun. I'm hoping they find space to get this. At my work's other campuses, they have rentals lockers you can pay $20/month for - I'd gladly pay! 3. They play the same playlist everyday downstairs in the women's locker room and I'm slowly going insane. Other than those fixable things, I absolutely love this gym!

Membership in this club is available only to employees of large tech companies. If you're not one of those employees, don't even walk through the door. I'll consider this waste of time (thanks to the Moffett Towers management lack of communication) as taking one for the team.
