At first I was a little disappointed since the check engine light was on. I took the vehicle to a mechanic who stated it was an expensive repair, but his vehicle had the same issue and has ran for years. I was told it would not affect the performance of the vehicle. It has been several years and the Volvo still runs great! We are a military family and after speaking with the manager he said the vehicle would arrive in clean condition ready for immediate use which I am pleased to say it was very clean! Can't say with 100% certainty it was them but a week after buying a truck from I had someone apply for unemployment benefits under my name. I know that is happening a lot since covid. A week later a had a bunch of charges on my debit card, the one I used for part of my down payment. Could be coincidence but my gut tells me otherwise. I own my house and have excellent credit. I had too "lock" all my credit accounts and start a new checking account also. Just because they have a decent looking inventory does mean you're not going to have problems, the truck I bought has had a few problems they conveniently hid that I'm still dealing with. It's been 6 months . First day I got the car it was given to me with NO gas. A week late WHILE on the highway my car shut off. I took the car back to "THE MANAGER" and his bad ass workers and was told it was the throttle. This is all in addition to a very beat up exterior which the pictures nor the vehicle description did not accurately show. It only said "1-owner, no accident"... I came to this dealer to buy a Ford F-250 and I was about to purchase the truck when the guy doing the paperwork whispered to me that there was no warranty on the truck. Granted the truck has 255,000 miles on it I would at least say a 30-90 day warranty. Something that shows they stand behind their product. My wife and I bought two vehicles from this guys and the experience has been a sort of emotions lol, but the truth is that if you're buying a used car from any independent and/or small car dealer the chances of getting a lemon are high. In my case, our credit is not good and this guys were quick to approve us thru Credit Acceptance, I did went to other big car dealers before (Toyota, Honda, Ford etc) but no bank will approve us, so after reading a lot of reviews from different web sites, I come to the conclusion that if you're buying from Silk City or other dealer you should be knowledgeable enough or mechanically inclined to do a proper inspection of the vehicle you're interested, or bring someone else or a mechanic that you can trust to do the inspection for you. It is very obvious that the guys from Silk City DO NOT perform any kind of inspection or repairs previous to sell a vehicle, they will disguise a problem or maybe perform a quick cheap repair just for a quick sell, my wife and I tried various vehicles, we even went under the carriage to see if there was rust or something else, we look and hear at the engine for possible weird sounds, we check the fluids etc. (We're not mechanics but we have owned several vehicles and sadly we have learned from our own mistakes) we did caught several problems in the vehicles we tried, we told Eric (sales manager) and he assure us that he was gonna take care of those problems, even when we were interested and seeing other vehicles, the truth is that they take advantage of people that doesn't know much, but again I believe in this case is a buyer responsibility to do a proper inspection of a used vehicle, short long history, I bought a Ford Ranger for me and my wife choose a Ford Explorer, both vehicles in very nice conditions, interior and exterior, engines and transmissions in excellent conditions, I can't complain about my truck at all, the truck is in excellent condition in and out but not because of the Silk City guys but because the previous owner, but my wife vehicle, even when we tried to do a good inspection it wasn't enough, we took the vehicle to our mechanic because we notice some vibration in the front wheels, and we find out that the control arms were damaged, he also found out that the drive shaft or propeller shaft was broken and bended, rear shocks rusted, he told me that the vehicle was unsafe to be driven like that, thanks God engine and transmission are very good, the total cost of the repair it comes out of our pocket $1800 and there is no way we're gonna get a reimbursement from them. In this day and age, online consumer reviews are very important for the average person to make rational decisions with their cash and their credit. I can at least empathize with car dealerships with they post back to reviews on cars.com or Yelp expressing compassion for reviewers with negative feedback. That being said, one look at the lowest rated reviews from cars.com shows that whoever is managing their social media is defensive about reviewers feedback and posts specific numbers and negotiations online, as if that is part of their sales tactics. In the past three years (coincidentally they've also only been open for 3 years), they have 3 cases with the Better Business Bureau involving product/service issues. They are not accredited and have an F rating. Ran some test runs on VIN numbers in their lot: 1J4FA24167L142765 | 2007 Jeep Wrangler X Vehicle in accident; disabled and had to be towed. My 21 year old son just bought a used truck from them. They sold him a $1890 extended warranty to take care of the transmission issues he brought to their attention after the test drive. When the transmission needed repairs, he brought it to the repair shop and when the adjuster for the warranty came out he was flatly denied because it had a plow frame on it. My work truck broke down at the beginning of this winter, I own a heating business so I needed one quick. I saw an e150 van advertised on the internet for $7999 so I came to take a look. The van looked ok so my wife applied for financing and was approved. My first issue which I did not realize until about a week later was that there was $1000 added to the sales price when my wife signed the financing documents. I unfortunately had the worst customer service at this dealership. Belkis was unprofessional and provided terrible customer service. Upon entrance my father asked to see a car and she said to come back tomorrow and the car would be ready, and when we arrived the next day it wasn't ready. When asked to do a soft inquiry she assumed he would not be approved by looking at him, and denied to do a credit check. In Belkis words, "Even a man with a house and business wasn't approved. I doubt you would even be approved." He was even willing to pay in cash and she still gave him a difficult time about the car. When we came back the next day we asked to see the interior and to test out the car, but she said "are you going to buy the car so we can take it out," with an attitude. Called from out of state of a vehicle that looked fantastic on-line. Talked with Eric on the phone and asked very specific questions about transmission and 4wd. Was told everything was in good working order and operated as it should. Gave a cc deposit (which they never informed was non-refundable). Traveled with check in hand to get vehicle and vehicle wasn't even close to pictures. They hid damage very well. When I drove it the engine ran great, but brakes were grinding bad. Transmission had horrible slop and play. 4WD shift lever didn't even work, just slid back and forth freely, never engaging anything. Got back to dealership and informed them I would not be buying. This is when they informed me of non-refundable deposit. Do not shop with them on-line. Go to lot to check out vehicles. If you have to get financed, there are better locations. They will cheat you out of what they are able to. Definitely buyer beware. Reputable dealerships refund deposits and present their vehicles in a true fashion. I called them immediately, as well as 11 times there after and was always told I would have to speak to the coffee maker, Eric. he was brewing coffee for about 4 weeks in Turkey I guess cause I JUST got a hold of him today. He also gave a cough cough when he said he was sick with the flu for 3 weeks. He said he would have to talk to " somebody else." I couldn't get this truck inspected if I paid them 5 times the amount to do it, with a reach around. To fix this frame would cost 2 times as much as I paid for it. We also were never given a carfax report. Also the breaks were great on the city cruise prior to purchase, maybe that turkish coffee bean oil wore off on the 100 miles we drove home. Awful. I bought a jeep wrangler there about two years ago and have had non-stop problems ever since. The Jeep was overpriced and later discovered that it needed a new water pump, radiator, transmission, and heater core. Not to mention that the soft top was busted and they managed to conceal it. On top of that, the staff is rude. Maybe it's because I'm not Turkish or maybe it's because I am female, but anytime I would ask a question they would answer it to my father who came with me (they ended up lying when answering us anyway). Don't bother calling them when there is a problem either. I know they don't really have an obligation to return money, but if you had any intention on having a return customer you would at least apologize and offer to repair it yourself. Or even if they recommended who to go to for repairs that would have been a nice gesture! I was only allowed to test drive it around the block which wasn't sufficient to see if it drove properly. After sending Motorvise over there to do a press inspection for me, it was revealed that the car needed an axle, slot of paint work was done to hide slot of rust build up, brake fluid was dirty, it had no coolant and they was using the vehicle to tow other vehicles! Before you purchase a car check EVERYTHING. the car was fine when we got it, but a few miles later a check engine light came on. We immediately called them and told us to bring the car in. Fortunately they fixed ONE of the problems, then the tpsm came on and he tried to tell us that you can't replace the sensor... okay because we have never owned a car previously. Then the light for the o2 sensor came on told us it was just to do the injector fuel to clean it up that the sensor wasn't messed up. Week passed by still on, we ended up replacing it and paying out of pocket for the sensor and as soon it was replaced light was off and hasn't came back on since. Wanted to buy a vehicle but I needed final approval from my bank for loan. They asked me for a Deposit to HOLD the vehicle. Found out next day my bank would not finance that type of vehicle. (Strange but true). They (Silk City) told me to fill out an application on their website and they could get me approved for financing. They said the following day they would need additional information to secure Financing. They asked for a lot of very sensitive information (Full Bank Statements, both personal and business) as well as all my All of my business Records. A lot of the stuff could have been verified on line thru government institutions. It took a few days to get it all together, but I gave them the information. The sales manager called ma back and gave me all kinds of demands. They wanted another 1000 down. The payment plane he blathered on about mad no senses at all. He wanted 85 dollars a week and would not tell me for how many weeks. Long story short they were trying to gouge me. I told them I was going to purchase another vehicle elsewhere and would like my deposit put back on my card. Sales manager said he would see what he could do. I told him I want the money back on my card in no more than 10 days.
