I had the misfortune of getting a flat tire on Route 21. I was unable to reach Geico for a tow so I drove my Mercedes SLK 55 AMG about 5 miles on a flat, which I know is probably the worst thing to do. I was lucky enough to find Amaral Service just by chance. What I thought would be a minor tire fix was so much more. My tire had literally exploded while I was driving. The service guys at Amaral put my heart at ease. They took my car in and replaced both rear wheel tires for a ridiculously low price. In the past I have always taken my car to Mercedes dealerships for service and paid exorbitant rates for the exact same service Amaral offers. I highly recommend this company. I took my 2009 E350 to be repaired at Amaral. Car was there 5 times over 3 week period. I paid them almost $1,600 to repair an intermittent problem that Mike assured me they could repair. On my last visit there, Mike informed me that they did not have the proper equipment there to diagnose and repair the problem. Mike told me to take it somewhere else. Car is doing the exact same things as when it was brought there. I asked for a refund but was told he would not do that. I asked him to pay for repairs at another shop he recommended, but he refused to do that also. Word of advise, go somewhere reputable. read more

-Poorly handled communications and customer service -Damaged my 2014 Range Rover Sport during detailing and will not cover cost to replace/fix damage. They offered 25% of the cost of the parts only (no labor) despite acknowledging they did the damage. Be careful with these folks. I will not do business with them again. I had my SUV detailed by Amaral Auto on 8/10/2021. They damaged the "Range Rover" letters on the front hood during the cleaning process. Initially, they said the letters were not damaged by them. I disputed this and asked they check their video footage when the truck arrived, check with the employee who performed the detailing (he saw every inch of the truck), and with the person who did the "Vehicle check" for the "pre-exisiting" damage. This is what they do when they take a vehicle in to protect themselves. Surely, damage like this, which is very noticeable, would have been noticed and documented (It was not). This is common practice for all places that perform work on vehicles. They eventually acknowledged they caused the damage but refused to cover the cost to replace the "RANGE ROVER" letters. They offered initially $44 and then $88...seriously??!!?? Read on for the full details of the two week back and forth with no acceptable resolution. FULL DETAILS After speaking with "Mike" and "Neil" on 8/10/Tues about the damage, they took photos and said they "would get back to me". On 8/16/Mon, after not hearing from them, I called and spoke with "Mike" and asked for an update, he said "he would call me back" shortly. On 8/17/Tue, after not hearing from "Mike"...., I went onsite and spoke with "Mike". Mike said, "Neil" who is on vacation this week will make the decision when he returns. On 8/18/Wed, "Mike" called me, said he spoke with "Neil" and agreed that the last letter "R" in "ROVER" was damaged by them during the cleaning process. I thought, OK, this is progress! Then he said the full set of letters (parts) cost $176 with "Range" costing $88, and "Rover" costing $88. But...they would only cover half the cost (i.e. $44) of the "Rover" letters because it was a 7yr old truck and the letters had some wear from age.(Seriously???..!!!) I disputed this with Mike, and he made a second offer to cover the cost of $88 (still not the full $176), but again only for the "ROVER" letters, and would not acknowledge they also damaged the "RANGE" letters during the cleaning process.....despite the same cleaner being used during the detailing on the letters. Labor costs were not negotiated at this time. They are aware, as a used car dealer, that you cannot replace half of an emblem on a vehicle unless the vehicle is brand new-ish. It simply will not look right as the new "ROVER" letters will look..well brand new..and the "RANGE" letters will look..well 7yrs old. The same is true for a repainting of a vehicle...you cant paint a fender on a vehicle with the same shade of paint it was when new...it has to be color matched for the fading of the paint on the other fenders adjacent to it. I will not do business with them again. Folks be careful doing business here....if they handled me this way, after acknowledging they did cause damage...how will they handle you if there is a problem? read more

I was in the market to buy a used car, I did dozens and dozens of online searches , saw lots of deals at places like Cargurus where the dealer had 5 star review ratings, but then when I checked Yelp on the same dealers I saw only 1 star from Elite Yelpers saying they wish they could give zero stars and lots of horror stories. Unlike a new car that is backed by the maker, a used car owner only resource for problems is the dealer you bought the car from. Once they have your money it is up to them to resolve the problem or just lie to your face. I notice Amaral while driving in the neighborhood and checked there web site and liked what I saw and Yelpers gave them 4 stars. So I contacted then on the car I wanted and they promptly made an appointment to test drive the car. I went and saw the car and it was so clean like if someone went over it with a toothbrush. I went for the test drive and after some lite haggling we agree on a price, I went to my bank got a Cashier Check the owner and General Manager took care of the paper work himself and I drove off with my car, like 90 minutes after showing up it was painless and with no drama. And when there was a delay on getting my title, the Manager's Dad explain and soon called me to pick it up and my plates. I took my time before I wrote this review because I didn't want to do it until I had the car for a while, well I been driving the car 5 months now and no issues. Amaral also has a service department to back up there warranty. and you can bring your car even if you didn't get your car there. Buyers Beware. If I could leave zero stars I would. I purchased and had shipped an 1987 Mercedes Benz 300D described by Neil to be in great condition with no flaws or issues. Upon receiving the car, it was everything but that: A/C did not cool, Antilock brake light came on and stayed within five minutes of driving the car, and the driver side window did not roll down. I sent videos and supporting evidence to Amaral Auto and Neil but they will not stand behind their vehicle. I also sent quote from the a/c compressor replacement and even informed him I would be willing to at least split the cost with him. I was told no. Altogether, I will need to spend around $1500 to get these issues fixed. I'm disappointed with Amaral Auto Sales as I trusted my hard earned money with them. This has got to be the BEST cars shopping experience EVER (and this is coming from someone who shops cars every two-three years)! To be honest, I was a bit skeptical at first with how effortless purchasing a used car can be, but I saw the number of great reviews online so I had to make an appointment to experience it myself. From the moment my girlfriend and I stepped into the showroom, we were both warmly greeted with professionalism. I quickly test drove the cars (BMW 3 series convertible, Mercedes-Benz SL500 and Lexus SC430) and then it was onto the decision. Neil gave me his honest opinion on each vehicle and made this process extremely comfortable. It was no hassle and no nagging. This review is about the detailing service and the management. I had my car detailed here and they quoted me a special price. When they had my car they said the price did not include cloth seats and if I wanted them done it would be extra, I said that is fine, I wanted the car totally cleaned. They said they had to keep it over night, I was fine with that also. When my daughter went to pick up the car, she noticed on the inside by the door and cup holders it was still dirty. At first they gave her trouble saying that if it was still dirty it was because the car was dirty when it was brought in (I did not realize I should have cleaned the car before I dropped it off for cleaning and detailing) After that it went down hill she asked for a Manager who did not want to hear a word she said. He said so they made a mistake, all they kept saying they worked on the car for 8 hours. If this is true, why was it not cleaned. They had my daughter so upset she had to call me to come down. of course when I went down with my nephew, they had a totally different attitude. I wonder is it because she was a 21 year old and a girl? The seats which I paid extra for did not look cleaned at all, it looks like they did not shampoo it like they told me they were going to. The only thing that looked good was the outside of the car. At the end they did give a partial refund but this was so disappointing, we wanted a clean/detailed car which we were willing to pay for, but all we got was a car that was not done and aggravation. I really would not recommend them for car detailing. The only reason I gave them 3 stars was they did do the outside of the car nice and at the end did refund some of the money. read more

Their advertisement about good, bad, or No credit is a gimmick. Matt entered the wrong income numbers in the computer. Neil was trying to sale me a car that had features that I didn't want or need (all to gain more money, of course). He also stated he will contact the bank during the morning hours, because the earlier the better response he would get from "who ever he so called knew". However, he did not really contact the bank until 5:45PM, because I've gotten several notifications when he finally did so. Neil actually shared my information with a previous customer, and She told me about it! She told me specific things too. My male best friend asked Neil a question about not calling me back after Neil had gotten all of my sensitive information, so because Neil was having a "bad morning & a bad week" (Neil words) Neil decided to respond rudely, and made my friend exit his business. Then tells me that we can not work together, because he and my friend had an argument. I will never recommend this dealership to anyone. Amarel Auto Sales are untrustworthy and will waste your time! Over email I had agreed with with Matt Vanderhoof on a price of a car and would come to the dealership that Saturday with cash.(3 days after price was agreed). On Friday the day before I was to go down there Matt informs me the car now needs "service" and not to come down. I replied to Matt that this is disappointing and let me know when the car is done being serviced so I can make arrangements to come down. Monday goes by no word, I send an email to Matt on Tuesday asking for a few extra pictures and what service is even being done? By now I realize something is going on. No reply to that email so on Friday I email Matt telling him I'm coming down Saturday is the vehicle ready? what is going on? Finally Matt replies they sold the vehicle while "he was not around". If Amaral had wanted a deposit I would of gave one. They could of just came clean about selling the car. Instead they wasted my time going to the bank getting the cash planning the trip down there twice! and 10 days I could of been looking for another car. After months of looking on cars.com and autotrader.com i finally found one but it was all the way in New Jersey and im in Boston so it was like a 4 hours drive there and 4 hours back. Had a rough day when my car hot a pot hole and blew two tires! I was not local to Lyndhurst and found Amaral via Yelp! Instead of waiting for a tow service they sent the service manager out with an extra spare so I could make it to the shop and get the tires replaced. I purchased a vehicle from Amaral Auto Sales in late September of 2017. I was greeted and treated warmly as is expected to get the sale. I purchased the vehicle with a promise from them that they would fix the crack on my dashboard. I also had an issue with the catalytic converter that arised the very next day after pulling away from their lot. I was also promised that they would correct that. Eventually, they did fix the catalytic converter, 5 MONTHS later after repeated attempts by me contacting them about this issue. I was given the run around and stories about how an employee who was tasked to order the parts did not do it and other tall-tales. I had to eventually threaten them with a bad review and then they found the part to install. Now, remember that dashboard that they promised to fix? Well no, they hadn't done that either. A part that you can easily find online from any number of vendors. So here I am on May 2nd, 2018 still waiting for this part to arrive. I have been very lenient and given them plenty of time to correct this issue. Someone else would have been up at their place of business screaming and raving but I try to be professional and keep a level head about things. But 7 MONTHS have gone by and I'm still getting the run around. Today, the story from Manny was that the part was ordered last week from a company on Ebay but that order wasn't completed successfully. So, the part still doesn't have an ETA. It's beyond ridiculous at this point. The only employees that I can say really helped me were Matt (the sales guy) and Isaac (the maintenance manager) so this review is not a referendum on them. I also can't speak for the maintenance division as I'm sure they do the work that they are tasked. I am speaking about their leadership Manny and Neal who have given me repeated stories and have not kept me up on what is going on, with me having to reach out to them. That is terrible customer service. At the end of the day, they have not kept their word about what they said that they were going to do and so I can't and will not recommend them to anyone I know and I urge you who is reading this to be wary of what could happen if you decide to deal with them. So be careful. This is not me trying to be malicious, this is me at the end and past the end of my rope dealing with them and this situation!! After traveling across country en route to moving overseas, we needed to sell our Honda Pilot. We believed (naively) that a Honda dealership would give us a fair price. Not so. Our experience at the Hackettstown, NJ Honda dealership was disgusting - they totally exemplified the sleazy used car salesperson stereotype. After jerking us around for hours and continuously coming up with fictional problems with the car, which, of course, resulted in a lower and lower sales price, we finally walked out (please see our Yelp review of Hackettstown Honda dealership). We turned to Yelp and found Amaral Auto Sales (4 1/2 stars). It was the complete opposite experience. Within 30 minutes we were offered a fair price for the Honda. Amaral was professional and ethical - completely flipping the used car salesperson stereotype. This was my first experience in the US in a car dealership so I was very skeptical since I heard that car dealers have one of the worst reputations in this country... To be honest, I can't say such a thing from Amaral Auto Sales. I saw on their website a Honda Civic SI coupe which I liked a lot (I am European and it had manual transmission, besides I like powerful sport cars) They were honest since the beginning and the only defect I found in the car was the front tires: they were really worn out. However, they replaced them by new ones without any charge. Neil is a really nice guy and me, being a European who knows nothing about american system, he oriented me in every aspect such as financing system, insurance, etc. More than that, I had an unexpected delay on my NJ driver s license (I had just moved from NY) and Nail was really supportive on that issue, telling me very good advices about how to deal with NJ MVC. I bought a 2009 Ford F-150 lariat around 10/12/15 and it was the best experience I've had buying a vehicle. Firstly, There was an absence of the expected aggressive sales people one would normally find at your average car dealer. I knew what vehicle I wanted and the fare price value from Truecar.com. It's good to do some research. Secondly, it was a bit unorthodox that Neil showed me the price he paid for the Ford. I thought that was pretty cool. I ended up paying a fare price for the value of the Truck. There was a delay in processing the title/plates, understandably because I am out of state. Ashley(?) at the front desk was very professional and understanding. She mailed me a refund for the tax paid, along with the title so that I could have the registration done myself in NY. overall, The truck has been running like a champ (knock on wood). It was also nice to get a phone call from the office to see how everything was going with the car...later an email from Neil. Keep up the good work guys/lady. I purchased a 2008 128i convertible from Neil Amaral and it was one of the best purchasing experiences ever. I actually enjoyed handing over all that money in one quick payment. The negotiations were taken care of over the phone and he met me where i needed to be to feel comfortable with a full cash sale. As soon as I arrived to the shop from Queens I was warmly greeted by him and his family...it is a family owned business. After some crossing of the T's and dotting of the I's I drove off with my cute little car. The relationship with Amaral Auto did not stop there. The difference with this company is that they continue to be available to you going forward. I can call or email Neil with any small issue and he makes himself availablbe. I recently had a problem with Rallye BMW and he was there to talk me through what they did to my car but went above and beyond by talking to the dealership directly for me. Please read this before you buy a car from this dealer. I was shopping for a car and I went to more than 10 dealers including brand name dealers like toyota honda lexus etc. basically these small dealers would go buy a car from auctions. The cars that they (amaral) buy are from auctions and those cars are from these big known dealers and most of the time they are in a bad condition meaning something is wrong needs attention or something that the big dealers would not sell to customers because its not worth selling. All those cars end up in auctions and these small dealers like AMARAL buys them cheaper and they resell it. Please if you are shopping around in AMARAL MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR OWN MECHANIC. I bought a $30000 luxury car from them and I regret so much. I even bought a extended warranty from them but it is a garbage. Advice this message. I never put anything online never in my life.
