Completely unacceptable. Went in Sunday at like 1:30. They were super busy. (Typically a good sign) but i believe this was more for the fact of the prices and that sxsw and the rodeo were in town. Waited 45 mins for a manicure which was rushed as hell and was transferred to a different nail tech mid way through my nails. Literally THE NEXT DAY i was getting bubbles of air under my nails and they were starting to peel up. 3 days after my manicure a nail completely popped off just by closing the door on my car! Used to love this place when i worked down the road. The last 2 experiences there have been rushed and less than good after only a few days. Will NOT be returning. read more

Me and my mom come here all the time, they are so friendly and the man does my nail designs, I have sweaty hands and always get nervous going to nail salons because they are mean about it. They always never complain make me feel comfortable, put on the best movies while I'm doing my nails! Don't charge crazy prices like my old place! Love them so much! read more

I've been to Silk a couple of times and have been super pleased with my manicures. Last night, I got a gel manicure by an older woman. 1. I had to tell her several times that it wasn't the shape and length I wanted but there was a language barrier. Finally, another lady came to help shape one hand and did a great job. Thought that would help the other shape my left but nope: long, square, and uneven. The other lady had to come by again. 2. She only did 2 layers of a glitter polish, which made it look clear at first so the other lady had to come by again to do it correctly. 3. Right before paying, I noticed she left polish on my fingers so tried taking it off using cotton. Eventually, she had to scrape it off with her own nails while the other lady helped. 4. When I got home, I noticed a HAIR stuck under my thumb polish. A HAI5. One tip is already chipped and the inner edges are all over the place. Not happy this cost me almost $40. Won't chance going here anymore. Update: my nails are already chipping and the cuticle area looks worse now that they've grown a little. read more

I ended up in Silk Nails by accident because the first salon i went to was busy beyond belief. Upon walking into the salon it is small and outdated. From experience, these places are a hit or miss and I believe I have found a hidden gem of a nail salon. The technician who did my re-fill took her time and repaired my "joke of a full set." She was patient and I walked away very pleased with the outcome. Prices are cheaper than newer salons. 20-25 for a refill. I do have one suggestion, a better display of solar tip colors. They are in the hard an not displayed on nails like most. So, trying to figure out what the color will look like once combined with the solution is a guessing game, but you know just about what it would look like. I've been going to Silks for about 7 years and have been very pleased. Ann is the best for gel manicure - quick and efficient but never skimping on the details. The salon is clean, the ladies are friendly, and their long list of regular customers says it all. They also show chick flicks continuously so that makes it more interesting. One review mentioned they made no eye contact or conversation. This to me is one of their strengths - they are more than happy to converse and visit with you but also understand that many people like me enjoy decompressing during a mani/pedi and, as such, concentrate on doing a good job. I now have to drive nearly 30 minutes to get to them but it will always be worth it to me. read more

Ask for Helen if you want beautiful, natural looking gel/acrylic nails/shellac/pedi, and ask for Jennifer if you just want a fantastic manicure/shellac/pedicure. I've seen beautiful work from the other ladies, but I've never had appointments with them. Also, their massage chairs are incredible. I saw another review about a customer bringing their dog. Great customer service! Very fast, quality work. The pedicure runs about $25 dollars (with an added $5 to get a decoration on your big toes) and a manicure runs about $12. It was a beautiful Sunday and I JUST NEEDED to get out of the house. There was a super convenient nail salon located around the corner from my house, BUT most places close at 5pm on Sunday. I stumbled upon Silk Nails because they had solid reviews and were open till 6pm. While getting my nails done, I relaxed in the massage chair while watching a recent romcom on the flat screens. I like this salon. Like other reviewers, I enjoy getting my nails done while watching the two big flat screen tvs..which are usually playing rom-coms or recentley they had "The Help" on. To date, I've received the best gel manicure or "chellac" brand name manicure here. I got the gel manicure on 12/16/11 and it is 1/3/12 and there has not been a single chip flake or chip in it (and I've made lots of xmas cookies and done plenty of dishes in between). Well, actually there is a chip on my thumb, but it's small. Really worth the 30.00 for a pretty, semi-permanent nail polish manicure and they did a good job. read more

This is a pretty decent nail salon considering many of the other nail salons I have tried. I went here on a whim quite a while ago with a friend, and have since tried many nail salons that I was less happy with. Yesterday, a friend and I both went back and were still fairly impressed. We both had regular mani's done - my friend had to wait about 5 minutes because they were a little busy, but I didn't have to wait at all. They had an extensive polish collection with great colors to choose from. You wouldn't think that this would be an issue in a nail salon but it actually is. I've been to nail salons who have a few pretty colors and a lot of ugly pea green, yellow and odd colors. The lady who did my nails did a great and thorough job on my cuticles, and was quick too. She left a little bit of polish on my thumb, but for a $12 mani she did a fantastic job. The pricing here really can't be beat considering the quality. There were a lot of people coming and going and the girls seemed to be handling it all pretty well which was really nice to see. Other nail salons that I have been to don't seem to multitask very well at all. I'm pretty much considering making this my regular go-to manicure place. I'd really love to go to Embellish every few weeks and make that my go-to place, but they're just too expensive considering. I will definitely be back to Silk Nails. Four stars - I'm leaving a star out for the sometimes language barrier and the polish on my thumb. read more

Almost 3 years later and this is the only nail salon in Austin that I have gone to for my pink and white acrylics. I have gone to 2 other salons for pedis but when it comes to nails, I would NOT go anywhere else. I agree with the movies which is a nice distraction. They are super accommodating. I do try to make an appt as to not have to wait b/c the after work time gets busy as do Saturdays. Regardless, I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone. I just had the best manicure of my life for only $15! Han listened to what I wanted and was very gentle with my cuticles. Silk nails is kind of a hidden gem from the outside and the reasonable prices I would not assume this level of quality. Prices were reasonable, but I wasn't impressed with the work. I really don't like when I can tell the gel polish is being put on way too light and when I ask for an additional coat to make the polish darker they look at you like you're asking for too much. The place was packed so it's obviously popular, but I wasn't happy when I left. read more

Great quick manicure! I was in the area getting a car checked out(at Shell). So I walked over to Randall's for a coffee and then over to silk nails for a manicure. They got me in right away, and I was out within 15 min(buffed nails, no polish). $12 plus tip The place is pretty old and not the nicest interior but the staff was friendly! read more

I LOVE this nail salon. Always quick and efficient and they always have a sappy chick flick playing on two tvs while you get whatever service you are getting done. If you ask in advance you can get your nail refill and pedicure done at the same time. This is an awesome time saver. Just plan in advance to schedule it. Once in a blue moon I'm able to get it without an advance appointment for this. Their work is great and I've never had any problems even when I've waited way too long to get my refill. They hold up!! This was my first visit to Silk Nails. I am not sure that I will go back. My pedicure was good ( except she hurt me once) and the massage was good but I did not feel welcomed at all. She did not greet me, introduce herself or thank me for coming in. There are a lot more nail salons out there and customer service should come first. read more

BEWARE! This place was awful for my daughter and I. First, they were playing a scary movie and I had to ask them to put something else on, it was extremely inappropriate for a nail salon, not relaxing at all. Then my manicure only lasted a couple days and began chipping right away. My daughter got gel nails and even hers chipped after a few days. My daughter just got a trim and paint, no manicure and they still charged me as if she got a full manicure. This was such a rip off and I will never go back. Worse manicure ever! read more

I have to say I visited a lot of nail places around Austin, and all of them are crap.. I was about to give up on having nails done, till I try this last place... I have to say I am enchanted! Don't ever go here to get waxed. I'm now missing the skin above my eyes as a result of a brow wax gone wrong. All they offered me as consolation was a jar of Vasoline. read more

I really hate to have to write this review as I have used this shop many times in the past without a problem Unfortunately at my last visit for a pedicure,(07/29/15) the salon allowed another customer to have her medium size Boston Terrier to be in the shop while she was receiving her manicure/gel nails. The dog was allowed in the customers lap and in chairs at other manicure stations the entire time. Just felt it was not appropriate and I will not be returning. Not bad, but also not my fave. I've come twice before (both times with my Mom as fun little Mother-Dauther manicure dates). I just hate how even when we've scheduled appointments, somehow they're totally finished with my Mom before they've even STARTED with me! Not fair! And it also makes it take twice as long! The quality of work is good, but the timing thing is really frustrating : / Also, the last time I went they had a movie playing (no idea what is is - I've never seen it before), and they were dropping the F-bomb like every other word. Seems kinda inappropriate, seeing as they could easily have teens/kids as customers. I'm an adult so didn't offend me personally, but I found it to be pretty distasteful. This place was as good as it gets for a basic nail salon. My pedi is perfect and my feet are baby bottom soft. The techs were both professional and the movie playing was really fun. The color selection was good once I found the OPI polish in the back, so make sure to look back there. And my eyebrows are looking great too! Can't wait to go back. read more

Went here for a full set after reading other positive reviews. I hadn't gotten my nails done in about 5 years because the last time was so awful. Anyhow, I saw Holly for pink and whites. They also have several colors of glitter acrylics to choose from if you're looking for something a little different. She listened well when I told her what I wanted, didn't over drill my fingers, and my nails look awesome! It has only been 2 days, so I can't say whether they hold up in the long run, but I'll post an update if they start lifting. read more

When I want my tootsies prettied up, I go here. The ladies are nice and rarely do I have to wait to be seen. But the main thing is all the techs I've had here really know how to give a good pedi! When they're done, they've taken years (and dead skin) off my feet. The mainly G-rated movies and nice selection of slick girly magazines add to the relaxing spa-like mood for me. I saw Helen today and they staff is very friendly and patient. I have been there years ago and had the same experience. They are very competant and efficient. I had a full set put on and they have multiple colors to choose from if that is your thing...(not mine, but whatever..)! The salon is very clean and well kept and does not smell strongly as some do.
