A hidden gem. Local distillery that makes their vodka from non GMO grains. The cucumber and lavender vodka is amazing. 80 proof and no artificial sugary flavoring. Knowledgeable staff too.

This distillery is in the same area as the Harpoon Brewery. Cool looking place with its own silo. These were mostly liqueurs with a gin and a maple bourbon. Their non-maple bourbon was being released the following week (short 1 week). Tried them all and it they were good.

While up in Vermont for Thanksgiving, the boy and I decided to take our standard trip to Harpoon Brewery (after all, it's a stone's throw from his parents' house... and it's become tradition). Well, imagine our surprise and delight when we discovered a new vodka distillery across from Harpoon! We knew we couldn't leave without checking it out, so after our lunch and beer flight, we popped into Silo. Silo's been open for less than a year, and it was founded by Vermonters. They currently sell vodka, gin, and whiskey, and they're working on bourbon as well as some infused vodkas. When we stopped in, we were given a tasting of the different spirits, and I was floored by how smooth and delicious both the vodka and gin were. My fiancé also tried the bourbon and whiskey, which he said were top-notch, but I'm not a fan of those spirits so I just took his word for it. The liquors reminded me a tad of the Tru Organic brand, of which I'm a huge fan. Cocktails are also available by the glass, and their martini menu looked pretty enticing, but we were on a small time crunch so we opted to purchase bottles instead. We also received a behind the scenes look at the distilling equipment and got to hear the back story of the business. I can't describe the beauty of the copper equipment and the building's wooden interior - the smell of fresh wood was also incredible. There's an upstairs area perfect for small events and dinners. I believe it can be rented out, as the distiller mentioned hosting events in the space. If we lived up in Vermont, I could definitely see this as a prime spot for a small gathering. Currently, Silo's liquor is only available through Vermont liquor stores and from the distillery itself. It's a small operation that I hope continues to make a name for itself while hanging on to it's Vermont roots. I can promise this will be a new stop on our must-see list while in town in the future.

SILO is a relatively new distillery in Windsor, VT. They make a wide variety of liquor, including vodka (many flavors too), whiskey, gin, bourbon, and even some moonshine. I stopped in recently to check it out and had a great time. First off: tastings are free. They're really informal and they just give you enough to experience the flavor, but it's really nice to not have to pay $15 to find out if you like something. The woman who was working was so gracious and friendly - my dad and I lingered at the bar for a while just chatting with her. It was really cool to hear about their locally sourced ingredients and partnerships with local businesses. The space is also REALLY nice. It's a beautiful barn (hence SILO!) with a huge production facility and a whole big upstairs area. I would definitely come to an event here! I will say that their bottles are quite pricy, but you can also just get a cocktail for $10. Definitely stop in if you're in the area!

Is this the most scenic spot in southern Vermont to stop in for a drink or make a liquor purchase?…read more I think so! You've got breathtaking views out the window or sitting in the yard behind the store. There's even a few more breathtaking views looking across the street from the parking lot. I was going to say location is everything, but then there's the liquor. You're allowed 4 complimentary tastes. These are not large, maybe thimble sized, but you definitely get an idea of the flavors. I came here specifically for the maple whiskies (well, it IS Vermont), but I also enjoyed the cherry liqueur, something I definitely wanted for my liquor cabinet as well. I didn't purchase any of their crafted cocktails, but other customers in the store while I was there did, and they were obviously satisfied. Obviously the products here are elevated in both taste and height above sea level.

They then let you know you can sample 4 different spirits, my wife and I declined on this part only due to the fact we stopped at the nearby brewery first. We went right into picking our cocktails. Next time we definitely would do the sampling. Cocktail wise their current menu was broken into three different sections, those being Vodka, Bourbon, and lastly moonshine. An extra category on the bottom did include two mocktails as well. I thought the cocktails were extremely reasonable either being $11 or $13. I got their peach smash which was a really good drink utilizing their honey bourbon and peach liqueur which was balanced so well! My wife got their French martini that utilized their vodka and raspberry liqueur and came in a frosted glass. We loved both of the drinks and even though my wife typically is not a bourbon fan she liked mine. While we enjoyed our drinks inside and appreciated the atmosphere of the inside including the decor the true view is outside. Enjoy your cocktail while taking in the view, you can be on the patio or at a table or chair at the overlook. Can snap some amazing photos that's for sure! To sum it up, friendly and welcoming staff who make delicious cocktails with a great setting inside and out!

Christian greeted us nicely and recommended certain ways of doing tastings and specs of each. He chatted while making bar menu cocktails for other guests. We each selected a regular flight and a reserve flight to try all their spirit options that we thought interesting. I can't say enough about how very impressed I am with the quality of the bourbons produced here. The double barrel bourbon, a maple bourbon and & a maple rye were all excellent choices on the regular flight menu. I also appreciated Perk coffee liqueur & the flavors and complexity of the Snowdrop gin. ($5 flight) On the reserve flight, friends chose the 15 year angel bourbon, 12 year rye reserve, aged snowdrop gin, and the vineyard rye full strength. ($12 flight) Really can't say enough about the quality that is offered here! Plus the facilities are inviting and I'd enjoy a day on the patio or to hear some music some afternoon, it's a great spot. I highly recommend a stop and purchase here! Cheers.
