Been meaning to share this for a while!! We truly appreciate this taekwondo studio. My son is growing up as an only child, and outside of school, he hasn't had many chances to be around other kids in a structured, social environment. This has been such a wonderful space for him to grow--not just physically, but emotionally. The instructors are incredibly understanding. They recognize that every child is different, and they're amazing at supporting all types of personalities, from the quiet and sensitive to the bold and confident. My son can be very emotional at times, but they meet him where he's at with patience, while still guiding him with structure and encouragement. It's rare to find a place that nurtures both discipline and heart. We're so grateful to be part of this community and committed to a lifelong journey with them. I can't say enough about this Dojang and instructor. Without a doubt, Master Silva is a great instructor who has dedicated his life training in the art of Taekwondo. You will not find a better Master at TKD who works relentlessly hard towards the development of the kids. He and his wife's compassion for the kids is what drew me to their place of Taekwondo. The Dojang is part of the CUTA ( California Unified Taekwondo Association ) and aligned with WTF ( World Taekwondo Federation.) He works to prepare kids for sparring and the martial arts form of TKD. As a student that has had different TKDO instructors and as an older sibling who has brought my younger siblings to this school. I must say.... Silva's class is a REAL class, you get more than what you pay for here, the class is tough! And is meant for you to learn, I've been with other instructors that let you slack off and kinda just stick around till the times up,not here Silva provides a great class with a lot of hustle and great discipline, he not only teaches you but he also LEADS you as not just instructing but being a part of the class and pushing the class to do it's best. With kids you see so much progress within 2 months of a new student being in class the level of focus and discipline begins to show and like I said it's definitely worth your buck! Fun school with a great workout to offer apart from the moves you learn. I love this class, if I had more time off work in the evenings I'd be there every night. My daughter was in this school would of been two years next month. Mr. Silvas kicked my daughter out of his school over a heated disagreement about my him not allowing my daughter to compete in a tournament because she missed some practices for the month. I was upset because he led me to believe it was up to me if I wanted her to compete or not I just needed to pay by that Fri a week before the tournament to avoid paying a $10 extra late fee. So I texted him to confirm if the tournament was that week. Yes it was late it was a little after 11pm I didn't think it would be a big deal but he called talking crazy talking about all kind of stuff other then the subject in matter. I then started to talk about all things that I didn't like about his program. Every time I would have a concern about my daughter he would always respond defensively and angry. I would always except this behaviour and try over look it and think about Shirayah. The first 6 months he kept partnering my daughter with a girl almost half her size. Until my daughter got too big and past her in belts with in 9mths. He tends to partner up my daughter with the same student. I have requested repeatedly to partner my daughter with a variety of students including boys so my daughter can be challenged or pushed to her highest potential, but he would always get defensive about as usual. Mr. Silva's is a arrogant man that pretends not to speak English very well and that he doesn't understand you. But he texts likes a girl and Argues like a BITCH because he doesn't let you express your opinion or addresses any of your concerns he will just over talk you and try to make you feel that you don't know what your talking about. He kicked my daughter without any remorse and trying to resolve our differences. My daughter made it too a blue belt. I confronted him for passing my daughter to a blue belt in her last testing because I felt it was her worse test ever and I didn't believe she deserved to be passed. He tends to spend allot of time with the older kids and he needs assistance because his class size is starting too get to big for him to pay attention to details of your child individually. I feel a parent should be able to ask questions, make request or address their concerns about any sport or program you are paying for your child to be in. It doesn't mean that all request will be addressed but at least acknowledge them and make me feel that you value my business. If you want to do that then this is not the school for you. Everybody has disagreements but we are all adults and we should be able to work out our differences in spite for the sake of the child. After repeatedly apologizing he still would not except my daughter back she even cried in front of him and he still refuse to take her back. That is a thoughtless man . And shows that he is not really invested in his students if he can through them away like trash read more

Our son had a wonderful introduction to Taekwondo thanks to Silva Taekwondo. Mr. Silva & has entire family are very passionate about what they do. Our son was there 2-3 times per week for nearly a year. This was the first activity he stuck with for longer than a month (he is only 6 years old!) and this was largely due to the wonderful way Mr. Silva balanced the discipline TKDo instills with his friendly yet firm instruction method. The reason we stopped going was the drive was too long from West LA. We tried a new place much closer to us but since then we have not kept up with TKDo. I've been attending TKD since the beginning of this year. I have to say everyone at Silva TKD have been more than helpful. As someone that just started their Martial Arts journey I couldn't have chosen a better dojo/dojang to get started. Mr. Silva not only participates in every single excercise he asks to complete, he does it with grace. He clearly knows what he teaches, and gives you enough freedom to choose whether it's a world that you want to work towards being apart of. Watching him not only guide the children the proper ways to execute their talents, he also takes time out to teach and explain life lessons such as being committed and dedicated to achieving goals that they set. Things I'm positive that will stay with them for time. Even as an adult I've learned a lot about myself being here.
