Delays cannot be helped, weather incidents or any act of nature occurrence are not what I am talking about. However, the seats reassignment has happened to me a number of times, often while traveling with my husband or a friend when we specifically chose seats togehter. During our most recent trip to the USVI, another surprise for us! They completely changed our return connection so that we were assigned to a fully booked plane and will no longer be seated in our chosen seats. To top it all off, during check-in they offered better seats for us for an upgrade. Makes me wonder if this is a thing to make you pay extra? FYI- our original seats and flights would have been much better but they moved us to a totally different flight connecting to a different city and had given us seats at the very end of the plane, right by the bathroom. My husband ended up taking the upgrade for a fee at check-in so we did not have to be seated by the bathroom but the seats were still separate and only the window seats were available. The next morning, they tried of offer us money if we would take a different flight owing to the one they moved us to being extremely full. Well, who's fault was that? We didn't take the offer. We had to stay on schedule to get our dog from the sitter and a life to get back to. Furthermore, the gate numbers are rarely accurate so goodluck when connecting! Sure, they have nice perks such as a varied number of movies for those long flights but I'd rather that my flight and seat selections are honored even if that means not having movies to watch or games to play. Besides, they make you watch their credit card ad so many times in the process in addition to the numerous announcements made about it. I'm giving them 2 stars based on past successful experiences I have had traveling with them but recent experiences being considered, I cannot bring my rating to be higher unfortunately. Recent experiences have been too annoying and inconvenient. I'm sure we'll end up flying AA again in the future but currently, they're not at the top of my list.

However, once it was our turn things picked up. The agent was polite and didn't grill us. We got our bags and passed through a second checkpoint. Here they ask if you have any alcohol, etc. if you do, you have to pay a fee. In addition, each passenger pays an entrance fee. On our way back, things were quicker. There were a lot less people when we arrived so passing through the security checkpoint was quick. There is not much here. I didn't really pay much attention, it from what I saw there were about 3 gift shops, car rental booth, and 2 places to eat, one of them closed. The one that was open was a restaurant & bar. We were told they were slow so we just grabbed a fixed sandwich and split it. On the other side of the security checkpoint is a stand that serves sandwiches and snacks. They also have beer. If we would have known this we would have skipped the sandwich at the other place and gotten one here. Since we were still hungry we got some Jamaican Patties. My wife got a beef and I the chicken. Both were good. The guy at the counter was nice. He was blasting some good house music. It was loud enough to provide the terminal with a soundtrack since there was nothing else to do but wait. Regardless of the airline you are flying, everyone shares the same terminal gate. When they call out the flight, the. You get up and present your tickets and they escort the group out to the plane. Biggest issue was the best. It didn't seem there was an A/C and there were no fans, so it got hot. Don't wear a lot of clothes and wear sandals so you don't bake. Overall though, not a bad experience. Everything went smoothly for us.

Small sleepy airport in a small sleepy town…read more The airport perfectly complements the island. It's laid back, simple, and plain. You have a parking lot, restrooms, a café, chairs, the airline booths, and a Carlos Jeep Rental booth. And of course the runway, which is properly paved and smooth. The airport is always clean inside and out. No need for baggage claim. When you get off the plane you are handed you bags right there. There is never traffic getting in and out, and rarely crowds. No pressure when loading and unloading your vehicle at curbside. It's stress free, as opposed to the stressful ferry situation. I'd rather pay more and fly. Easy in and out. Any stress such as delayed or cancelled flights are really airline issues for the most part. Airport is across the street from Jerry's Jeep Rental, Carlos Jeep Rental, and La Pista restaurant. Next door is Gmart, El Encanto Bakery, and Happy Landing.

We were interested mainly in geocaching, and Mr. Gumb met us at the dock and took us to all the spots we had marked on our map. Gumb's Taxi is highly recommended for groups who have their own agenda and want to see sites off the beaten path. The open-air taxi was a great option for us, allowing us to take pictures and get on and off easily. There were 10 in our group, which made the hourly price very reasonable.

The location was perfect for us. It was a reasonable stroll to the beach bars and ferry (by way of the path along the pond). But the distance from those "lively" spots means that an evening spent on the veranda at the inn is restful, not like your third-story balcony over M Street in Georgetown. When we booked our trip in March, it was with Kathleen, but when we arrived it was the new owners, Eileen and John, who greeted us. Every thing had been handled so seamlessly that, if they had not told us of their new occupation as inn owners, we would not have known there had been a hand-off. From the helpful hospitality and excellent breakfasts, to the morning greeting of Fiona and Cooper (their dogs), we found this garden by the sea a genuine West Indies experience.
