Stopped in for lunch and had great service. It's a large open area, you can play some jukebox music if you want. They have a bar area on the back left side of the Restaurant. We started with some Onion Rings and they were fantastic. Big thick onion slices and the breading is full of flavor. I believe their fries are sprinkled with it as well. My hubby had the chicken strips (actually good size Real chicken!) and fresh green beans. He loved the flavor and texture of both. I had a patty melt and fries. It could have used a little more cheese to get a better melt. The onion bell pepper gave extra flavor. The patty was very juicy and tasty. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely return. read more

3rd visit and it did not disappoint. Came for Sunday lunch and not crowded at 12:15, but got busier at 1:00. We had chicken fried steak, Mac and cheese and okra. Everything was hot and tasty. Okra was fried to perfection with plenty of ranch dressing to dip. Service was quick and we were checked on several times--excellent! It was a nice room with lots of space, not too noisy either. Experience for my first time at Silver Buffalo Saloon: the pros and cons We arrived at 5:30. The place is very busy, which I think bodes well. Lots of people mean good food and service, right? We are seated immediately. Our sever takes a while to come by, but that's ok because we have been exploring the menu and discussing. Drinks came. The beer is the perfect cold temp, and there is still ice on the glass. Hooray! We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. This was around 5:50 - didn't see the server again for half an hour. We watched three tables get seated around us, who all received their appetizer before we even saw our server again. At 6:20 I finally get to order a second drink. When she brings it back she mentions that they lost our ticket and proceeds to confirm the order. I tell her to go ahead and cancel the appetizer, but she said she already put it in. I really wish I had been given the choice about that, but oh well. 10 minutes later, the Buffalo chips come out. These are very tasty - I like whatever seasonings they use. My only complaint is that the bacon on them is straight from-the-fridge cold. Most likely this was in a rush to get them to us. But at this point I was very hungry. They brought out the side salads next (no pics sorry). Those were a great portion and they put hard boiled egg in it. I highly recommend the salad. Our food came out really quickly afterwards - maybe 5 minutes tops. The chicken fried steak is probably the best in the area, honestly. The meat was well seasoned and the breading was stellar. My husband said you could tell the gravy was homemade. The meat pie was also very delicious. Well seasoned and tender, for sure. The brown gravy on the side was unnecessary, which is good because it was also super salty. I wasn't a fan of the okra at all. I'm sure most people would like it, but I prefer super crispy okra. We did have to rush to eat our meal because we had plans at 7:30, and we didn't get our food until 6:55. The food here overall was 9/10 in my opinion. I'll definitely be back... just not on a Friday night or when I have any plans afterwards. The service was frankly awful. 2/10. We never saw her and when we did it was to a frantic experience. *edit to add: no. I didn't request a manager. What are they going to do? I'm going to start this review by saying that I'm incredibly biased due to the fact that this was my Dad's go to bar. The saloon has really evolved over the years. It's now the Silver Buffalo Saloon with a fully operational kitchen. They serve food from steak to chicken fry to street tacos. In all honesty, the food is great and wonderfully priced! Can't go wrong with their jalapeño poppers or nachos! Plentiful servings as well! This bar is full of local regulars who know each other like the back of their hands. Great place to sit and comfortably have a drink with great bartenders who are always kind. The bar will always have a special place in my heart and give me a sense of my Dad. Love the tribute on the wall featuring a dollar bill with his name and song on it. I wish my Dad could see the Saloon now. read more

First and foremost, the staff was WONDERFUL! We showed up for a Father's Day outing and drove 1:15 hours to get there. The reviews of this place are really great. Unfortunately our experience was less than great. First- A couple of the items on the menu that we came to enjoy were not unavailable due to a sudden management menu change. Disappointing, but we can adjust. The train left the tracks when we ordered their homemade Buffalo chips and cheese sticks. Now, they very clearly have a sign on the door when entering that says (and I'm paraphrasing)- "don't be in a hurry because we focus on quality and not speed". Cool. Perfect. The family & I were planning on settling in for a couple of hours anyway. When the food arrived some time later, everything was cold. You could take the Buffalo chips and fold them in half without breaking them. The cheese sticks were so cold there was no need to worry about burning your mouth and there was no cheese pull. We have no issue with being patient, but can you at least serve the food hot? Again, I want to emphasize that the staff were really good, and we appreciated their efforts. read more

Prices were reasonable, service was good. I had a half order of nachos as my entree. The portion was generous but the taco meat was on the dry side and the queso tasted like Velveeta. Not overdone and overbearing vs the meat portion. The gravy was fantastic too. The fried okra was not your typical tiny and overdone okra. The pieces were very sizable and plump. On a trip to Abilene we decided to try Perini's. However, they had a 2.5 hr wait. So we decided to see what was nearby. We stumbled upon the Silver Buffalo Saloon. We had a fantastic experience. The food was all home made and absoutely fabulous. We started with the Jalapeño poppers - they were wrapped in crispy bacon, filled with the right amount of cream cheese. I had the ribeye which was cooked and seasoned to perfection, my wife had the kbobs, my daughter had the nachos, and my son had a burger. Everyone cleaned their plate... We loved it! When i visited the saloon, I was relatively new to the area and relatively new to texas in general. I figured I would get out of the house on my weekends off and have some fun. It looks inviting from the outside but that could not be further from the truth. I made my way inside with a relative of mine and walked up to the bar. Id have to say the bar itself was slightly crowded but that was it with the exception of a group of people sitting at conjoined tables. It looks like your average country western bar and even had a small stage off to the side for, I'm assuming, live entertainment. So I'm waiting at the end of the bar for the bartender, of which there is two, to take my order. After awhile, I notice the bartenders are not serving drinks but just talking. I had been there for atleast 15 minutes and have not so much have had even the slightest hint of eye contact with a bartender and not from lack of trying. They had not even acknowledged that we were in the building. After standing there waiting all that time me and my relative got up and walked. We might as well have been invisible the whole time I had never had an experience quite that bad from any establishment I have ever visited. We walked to "The Barn", another bar right across the street, and we're greeted immediately walking in the door. Couldn't have asked for better service. As for "The Saloon" I can't say the same. As a transplant from the humble hills of California my wife and have spent the better part of a year searching high and low for a restaurant who wasn't afraid to be bold. The Silver Buffalo Saloon has taken the mantel in all things food, we ordered k-bobs, salmon, wings, a burger, asada fries, fried pickles and mushrooms. The appetizers rolled out comfortably ahead of the main dishes giving us plenty of time enjoy the asada fries which were completed with 100% accuracy, fries perfectly seasoned and crispy, cheese was gooey and the steak bits were packed with flavor. There was not a single dish that tasted the same and the k-bobs were accompanied by earth shattering flavor and a skillful execution on the steak, juicy with a citrus burst with each bite. The cheeseburger was not ashamed of being what it was, the meat was seasoned with another flawless execution on the crust of the burger, the homemade bun nestled the entire burger crafting this treat into supreme greatness. Even though the salmon skin had been abandoned, the fillet was wonderfully soft and juicy dancing on the pallet like it never missed a lesson. The sides could have been their own stand up dish each carefully seasoned with care ensuring there was not single moment of joy missed. Our server Debbie, was patient, entertaining and not afraid to make suggestions on what we might enjoy. Our only regret was that we had zero room for desert!
