I just purchased my new home in Stonypoint and needed to get my appliances. I was very hesitant in using Silver City since the review here were negative. I walked in Silver City only to get prices since my husband gets a 10% discount at P.C Richards and we already had our eyes set on Whirlpool appliances. Bruce seemed very willing to help us and very knowledgeable answered all my questions even about appliances that he didn't carry. Was not pushy at all. Needless to say we decided to make our purchase from Silver City since our total was a $600 difference from P.C. Richards and Bruce even got us $1200 in rebates. Hands down i would purchase from Silver City Appliance from Spring Valley Rt 59 in the future. I will review my delivery experiance once I recieve my appliances!! read more

Small place family own and operated located right on RT 59. Very bad customer service. Sales people are nice when you make the purchase, but when you try to fix the problem,.....they become very rude. I got very good prices for my appliances from other places but I decide to give them a chance.They gave me excellent prices that I couldn't walk away from, we shake hands.I was very disappointed when they try to deliver open boxes appliances .....stove, and refrigerator with no boxes. I paid for brand-new items...they tried to deliver floor models with dent on the side of refrigerator!!! II refused to accept the delivery, I called the store right away.....they told me that I will have to wait 2 weeks for new one. I asked to cancel the deal. I go back to PC Richard got same deal with the next day delivery and 12m interest free on the card they opened for me. I was waiting 3 weeks for money to return to my acc. and this happen after I dispute the charge . Very..very disappointed....they not going to get my business ever again ================================================================== Again Yelp blocked my review. If you're thinking about doing business with this company STOP THINKING AND RUN to another appliance company! They low ball the price to get your business. If you have any problems, questions or concerns after the purchase is made, they will not support you. They become extremely rude, they do not return phone calls, the warranties support becomes challenging. You must go directly to the manufacturer because they do not provide any assistance. Silver City is not a good choice. The big box stores have a better price and they will take care of the problems. They have more pull with the factories because of the volume they do. Do your research online. Bring the item number into the big box store and they will order the items you want at the best price. Lowes in Spring Valley, 2 minutes from Silver City, beats Silver City prices and Lowes backs up their product, it just takes a week longer to get. Be smart, how could a little non-stocking hole in the wall on Route 59 compete with the large volume distributor. How? They use hit and run salesmanship. Follow through costs money. Had a very bad install of a Dacor cooktop stove by the installer recommended by Silver City sales. The original install required granite cutting and ductwork to install a Decor vent. original price for installation was quoted as $500.00 then when the almost 8 hour install was finished at 11.00 pm we were at over $900.00 and held hostage by two installers who left it not finished and completely screwed up. I paid it then paid another installer $300.00 to fix their mess and get it working. Watch youtube of this horror. Note Silver City did get me $405.00 back from do-rite installers of Staten Island, made me wait for about two months for that so the install still cost me about $800.00. Stay away!!! There is a good reason why this business gets a "D" grade from the Better Business Bureau. They were like dogs on a bone when I went in looking for appliances for a new kitchen. They even called me at home several times to come back in. We spent well over $6000 for 3 high end appliances (and bought the 5 year warranty)...7 months later, 2 of the appliances broke (main pieces totally fell off). I called the store, they provided little help and were rude. They gave me a service # for one appliance and told me to look up the phone # for the other appliance. I then asked him what type of information I would need to give the the manufacturer to prove that I bought the items from Silver City and he didn't know. Couldn't help. I told him I was disappointed in the assistance I was getting and he was was unapologetic. He gave me a quick and insincere "Thanks for calling" and hung up. I deeply regret buying from them. I have several properties and have had great customer service from Sears and PC Richards. I understand that they don't personally provide service to the products they sell, but they definitely could have been more helpful in giving me the information I needed. I thought I would try to help a local business and should have researched it more. My bad...never again. read more

While I really believe in shopping local, I would say that after doing business with Silver City I would even shop at Walmart. We purchased a refrigerator a few months ago at Silver City. The sales associate told us how buying local would assure our satisfaction. That could not be further from the truth. We explained that we did not have a current water hook up for the refrigerator and that the refrigerator was next to the dishwasher. The salesman said the plumber would do the hook up for $150. My husband asked for the plumbing be done prior to delivery in the event problems arose. We were told this is not the way they do it. The plumber the store used said he couldn't do the job and left. It took weeks for the second plumber to come to our home. The second major glitch came about when we told the salesman that our wooden kitchen floor was newly hand painted and we were concerned about it being damaged. Yes, we were adamant that the floor be protected from damage. Of course during the purchase process we were assured that there would be no problems. The refrigerator was delivered and cardboard was used to protect the floor but because the plumber had not arrived they could not push the refrigerator against the wall and remove the cardboard. When the plumber said he could not due the job because the location of the water line could not be determined, he left and our refrigerator remained in the middle of our 8x12 foot kitchen. Many calls went back and forth until several weeks later until a different plumber was contacted and $450 later the refrigerator hook up was done. Silver City did not reimburse us for the added expense. The plumber put the refrigerator in place, however it was uneven causing pressure on the cabinets. Again, more calls. Alas, the delivery men came back again. They adjusted the refrigerator to some degree but REFUSED to remove cardboard because the did not want to take responsibility for the floor. My husband called the manager /owner and explained the situation and he told my husband to do it himself. When my husband refused, The manager/owner said he would get back to us when the men could come back but he never called. I should add that the manager/owner often did not return calls. When he did, he was snarky. My husband cut away the cardboard, although remnants are still visible. The manager/owner and our salesman were incompetent and equally nasty. Take our advice and go to any other appliance store. read more

I have been a repeat customer for the past 26 years and have bought at least 10 appliances from them in that time-span, including all of the appliances for a kitchen renovation and several washer and dryer replacements. Dumpy little store, overrun with poor day laborer people asking for money and a smelly heavy breathing slob of a salesman who acted like he had something else to do as he was constantly texting on his phone. After a few questions about a refrigerator he was wanting to know if I was buying it or not! I don't know how this place stays in business, is there really that many stupid people out there that don't realize there are better appliance stores that don't make you feel like you need a shower dealing with them? Silver city is a small appliance business on rt 59 in spring valley, ny. The showroom is small and not very well organized. They are very aggressive on pricing - they provide some really good prices but the customer service is horrible. If your order is straight forward then you will probably be okay. If there is something wrong it will be a nightmare to resolve. I had a problem with my order for outdoor kitchen components. There were missing pieces in my original delivery, wrong door sizes and a burner than was on back order. I had called the original sales person 8 times to resolve and did not get a response. Not even a call back. I had to get the owner howie involved who was responsive but still unable to resolve the issue in a timely manner and get the order completed. Just to give you an idea of how long the saga is taking, I placed my order in February 2015 and as of June 2015 I am still waiting on pieces. I had to stop my outdoor kitchen project and wait for these items. It is unbelievable that they can not understand this and resolve the issue. Sometimes it is worth paying a premium for customer service. I would recommend using a place that is much more focused on customer service. read more

I just spoke to the manager. I got lots of lip service. I expressed my disgust with the 20% restocking charge for an air conditioner purchased there. In fact 3 were purchased , but needed to return 1 , and exchange it for another. The box it was in was never touched, so the item was returned exactly as it was taken out of the store. So when I called I got some BS story about why they needed a 20% restocking charge. So he tells me that the bad reviews and his rating of "D" with the Better Business Bureau are from a small sampling of customers and he has "billions" who love his establishment. Well I don't care about the "billions", I care about his BS policy which he said was clearly stated on the bill. Truth is, policies can be broken, and with the purchase of 3 air conditioners, it should have been waived. So he wins, and his "GREED" wins out, but I hope people read this and avoid the same dishonest fate. It is good to patronize small businesses, but NOT THIS ONE!!! read more
