Me and my sister visited this little ice cream shoppe recently and ordered a frozen lemon custard cup and a banana split. I asked for extra nuts,and the young ladies behind the counter were kind enough to give me a small cup of nut at no extra charge. The lemon custard was creamy,sweet and very refreshing. This place has such a fun menu and has all the charm and ambiance of a classic mom and pop ice cream shop. The soft serve is some of the best in the area and I'd say tastes close to custard! This has been a local staple for us for years. Most recently, we've loved coming here with our dog Bruce so he can enjoy a puppy cone too! We don't get to wild with our orders and stick to the traditional soft serve with either hot caramel (the best around) or hot fudge. There is always a generous amount of toppings and it keeps us wanting more. The staff changes seasonally and some years are friendly than others but we don't mind as the ice cream stays great. Honestly, when I came here, I wasn't really expecting much. After I took that first bite of ice cream, I was blown away. The ice cream here is absolutely delicious. Legit one of the best I've had in a while. I ordered the brownie sundae, and my friend, the banana split. I can not begin to explain how yummy they both were. My friend had a taste for ice cream. I suggested we go to Silver Dairy as it has been my go-to spot for over 20 years. My friend ordered a cup of butter pecan, which is her absolute favorite. She tasted it and said it had a strange taste and felt it may be spoiled. She asked is she could get a different flavor and was told she would have to pay for another cone. She barely took a bite out the ice cream she had ordered. The young lady offered to throw the full cup of ice cream away but told my friend she would have to pay for another ice cream. My friend was not given a refund. She paid $3.75 for nothing. Now I read a review from 3 weeks ago where someone dropped their ice cream and water and was immediately given a replacement by the friendly staff. I am upset because I recommended Silver Dairy out my past positive experiences and my friend ended up with the complete opposite experience. I will not be returning to Silver Dairy because of the way my friend was treated. I won't be returning since it appears replacement ice cream is given away if you are clumsy and drop your ice cream; however, if the ice cream is spoiled, you have to buy another flavor. read more

Just a quick walk from downtown Farmington, this place is a great little walk up ice cream place, perfect for that ice cream cone to finish off a hot summer's day. I usually opt for a small swirl dipped in chocolate. They also offer flurries, sundaes, frozen slushees and italian sodas. There is also the choice to do the drive through if you can't be bothered to leave your car. I just went here the other day for a quick cone, and they were nice enough to offer my dog her own doggie dish of vanilla ice cream, topped with a few dog treats. They made Dharma, my pup, a very happy girl! I have to admit that the soft serve ice cream here isn't the best I've ever had, but it hits the spot on a nice summer evening, hence the three star A-OK rating. We come here because my 3 yr. old begs us to walk up and it's cheaper than Cold Stone (plus you don't have to listen to employees sing when you tip them). I am usually disappointed. Today I had a watermelon slushy which had too much syrup and not enough ice. My husbands blueberry shake tasted like a malt and was just okay. I usually get a vanilla dipped in chocolate and even that tastes funny here. I know, how can someone mess that up, you ask... the chocolate has an aftertaste and the vanilla is a bit off. Some of the creamiest soft serve I've ever had, and pretty cheap too. They're sizes are not as large as a Diary Queen might be but, they are large enough to be satisfying. Every time we've been there, they've been busy and it seems to be quite a popular teenage hang out, but it's still very family friendly. Our 1 year old just had his 1st cup of ice cream there. The biggest problem with this place is deciding what to get! A classic soft serve ice cream place, run by local high school kids, it has a small town charm and local celebrity Moolinda out front. It can get a little busy at times and you are bound to run into someone you know. This year, I noticed that chocolate dip is thicker which helps slow down the melting on a hot summer day. I finally tried this place out and ordered their flurry with cookie dough and brownie bites in it which was absolutely divine! This flurry puts all other flurry making establishments to shame for one reason: I was able to eat toppings on the bottom of my cup, not just having the bottom of the cup with ice cream and no toppings.
