This is a review of the office staff, particularly the lead receptionist--one of the rudest and…read moremost unprofessional staff members I have ever encountered. For two years, I have tried to schedule an appointment with my doctor, but every time I call, she abruptly tells me the earliest date is four to five months away. When I explained my urgent need, she became defensive, told me to find another doctor, and hung up--something she has also done to other patients. Her behavior has repeatedly prevented me from seeing my doctor, as she shows no willingness to accommodate earlier appointments. This receptionist not only lacks basic manners and empathy but also displays a combative attitude and poor interpersonal skills, making her unfit for a role requiring patient care and respect. I am not alone in this experience--multiple Yelp reviews report similar incidents. Below is a summary of eight reviewers' comments showing how this one receptionist has damaged the clinic's reputation in the East Bay community. Unfortunately I had to change my Doctor whom I liked very much. Here are some highlights from reviews posted on this Yelp page: Kenneth O. "Just spoke to staff that was completely rude unreasonable and unwilling to schedule my wife's appointment " " In all of my years as a Blue Shield patient have I been so disrespectfully treated" "Horrible customer service" Topden T., "Rude as others have reported before me, she immediately started scolding me. " "She blamed me for rescheduling appointments with Dr. Robinson." "hung up without trying to resolve the issue " "As others before me have warned: this place is shady, unsanitary, crowded, claustrophobic, and their interactions with new patients are based on lying and cheating." "one of the worst experiences with medical providers I've had in my life." "their interactions with new patients are based on lying and cheating" Xuxu A. "The billing clerk (Her name is May )is extremely rude and arrogant, she was yelling at me over the phone" "If you are a patient, please read my horrible experience. Don't waste your time and money on this place!!!!You will be treated poorly and rudely" "After that, endless mails and rude phone calls have never ended." "After this conversation, I understood where May's rudeness come from? When your doctor doesn't care about their patient, the quality of their job, how can a clerk care?" " So far, I didn't hear any apologies for their poor management and rude attitude. "What a drama and shady place! " Margaret c. I would clarify every time the type of visit and code you are getting from this shady office clerk. Jackson H "The conversation went exactly as other reviewers experienced - unprofessional, rude, combative. " "she has not felt more bullied and humiliated by a service provider" Jimpers N. "Astoundingly rude and ignorant receptionist" "Hung up on me as I was trying to figure out insurance information. Hung up again on my insurance provider as they were trying to communicate" H Takehiro S. "horrible, horrible, horrible" Cassey H. "The office deserve zero stars. Very inefficient, rude and stupid receptionist" "This scum of a receptionist suddenly said this wasn't working out and abruptly hung up on my face! " " That stupid receptionist has no customer service skills and who is she to decide the call is not working out?! she is suppose to help and figure things out not hang up! I don't know how scum like her keep their job having 0 customer service skills!"

I called the Sutter number listed for this location from my car to let them know what was happening and they told me they'll let the office know and no problem. Sutter has a 15-min late policy which allows them to cancel your appointment if you're late. I walked in 14 minutes into my appointment time. After checking in and waiting to see the doctor, I was told that Dr.Wallace decided to cancel my appointment. I was shocked! I asked to speak to Dr. Wallace, but I was told she needed to leave early that day and was filling out paperwork. I waited to speak to the clinic manager and complained that my appointment should not be cancelled because a doctor wants to leave early on a Friday afternoon and that I was not technically late. She explained that I was late, because the checking in process took about 2-3 minutes. I had a time sensitive medical reason why I needed to see a PCP and waited weeks for that appointment. I was crying uncontrollably in the lobby and requested again to just speak to the doctor briefly, but she refused and did not care. It is a terrible feeling to deal with a medical problem and feel that no one is willing to help you. I cannot imagine that a doctor who treats any of her patients in this careless way can be an effective or empathetic caretaker. Obviously this clinic is pretty bad also from all the 1-star reviews.

We were charged over $500 for simple tests we didn't ask for and didn't need. In another case, we brought in routine camp health forms for my daughter. The front desk wouldn't accept them without an appointment. During the visit, the doctor confirmed the appointment wasn't actually needed for the forms, yet we were still charged based on minor concerns that came up in conversation. The doctor was kind, but unfortunately, the costs were never clearly explained. Both situations felt like "gotcha" billing... Originally this was a two star review, but I just discovered the bill was sent to collections - we've been waiting for Sutter to respond to my letter appealing the charges.

Unfortunately the intake appointment was the only good part of dealing with her office - anything outside of the room gets little to no response. Dr. Wallace prescribed a medication that is necessary in assisting a medical condition I had, but when insurance initially denied it due to her prescribing too low a dosage, I was unable to get any follow up help on appealing or prescribing at the correct dosage. Multiple follow ups went unanswered, and in over three weeks no resolution was made. Ultimately had to go back to my original PCP, who is in a different part of the state, and was able to get the prescription including pre-authorization within two days. Whether this is an issue with Dr. Wallace, her office, or a centralized Sutter insurance team, this was unacceptable. If you don't have any prescription needs she might be a good fit, and I can tell she's a good doctor, but outside of that the standard of care was not met in any way. I cancelled all future appointments.

I am sharing the experience I had with Dr. Diamond over a decade ago. I had chronic pain in my…read moreright thigh/groin area ever since someone slammed into the front of my car while my foot was on the brake, several years prior to seeing Dr. Diamond. I learned only long after that, that the impact of the accident had torn the labrum of my right hip. Unfortunately, my labral tear was not visible to doctors inspecting the x-rays, MRIs and other imaging that was done, and despite my pain and disability, I was denied a hip replacement at that time due to lack of sufficient arthritis. I was forced to pay out-of-pocket for decades of massage therapy, and it was a massage therapist who first suggested that I might have a torn labrum. During the months in which I saw Dr. Diamond, she recommended Pilates, but the pain I was having disabled me from doing them. At a later visit, she shared with me her recent reading of an article about chronic patterns of nerve pain sent by the brain, that can occur without an actual injury being present. She indicated that she thought that was my problem. It bothered me that she seemed so certain that I did not have a real injury, just because I could not prove it with imaging. The final straw came when, at another visit, she told me that after an insurance claim, most people's pain clears up after the claim is settled!!! While other doctors were unable to locate the problem, Dr. Diamond was the only one who displayed such certainty that I had no actual injury, not to mention insulting me with her theory that my pain would abate after an insurance settlement. (I got a mere $2K which covered about 1 year of my 2 decades of monthly massage therapy!) I never saw Dr. Diamond again. Twenty one years after the injury, a doctor at UCSF finally saw my torn labrum in some more recent imaging. By this time arthritis in that same joint (and no other) had grown to the degree that I was offered a (long-overdue) hip replacement. The surgeon's surgery notes also note the removal of the "previously torn labrum." Although, I still have some (hopefully temporary) thigh pain from the recent surgery, my groin no longer hurts and I can do things I haven't been able to do for 22 years. This is a re-writing of an earlier review to make some parts more precise and accurate, and to let Dr. Diamond know that I have suffered over two decades with a REAL injury even though I could not prove it at the time. To be fair, I gave Dr. Diamond 3 stars in this one so it doesn't affect her ratings more since I already gave 1 star in the old review (that Yelp won't let me edit nor remove). But I hope she has learned never again to assume that someone does not have a real injury (or disease) just because she doesn't see the proof. "Do no harm," includes not adding insult to injury.

Dr. Diamond is friendly, humorous and listens very carefully. She will also give you any referral you need! Dr. Diamond read through my chart later Tuesday evening and called me with a few insurance and health questions. Aside from my pediatrician, she is one of the most personable doctors I have found. Starting October, Dr. Diamond will only be doing primary care on Tuesdays and Fridays which is a bit of a bummer but that's OK. Very convenient office she works in though, just blocks from my house! I highly recommend Jan Diamond!!
