Beautiful park and ample amount of space to run around and be free! *Dog friendly! There are signs saying no dogs allowed but people bring their dogs anyways as I was at the entrance hesitant to enter until some friendly regulars overheard me and told me to just come in and nobody listens to the rules lol! The Meadows are kept VERY clean. I did not see any trash on the ground except for one cigarette. The Meadows is lively and popping. You have owners with their dogs, families hosting their little picnic party at the tables, a couple people laying on some blankets reading and relaxing, a few runners passing by, and whatever else you want to do. Some parts of Silverlake I feel sort of disturbed by individuals but at this park I felt like it was a safe haven as people were friendly, welcoming, and all having a great time! My dog was in doggy heaven coming here and fell asleep in the car ride home. I will be back! read more

The meadow was beautiful today. There were two things that bothered me but they are pretty minor, I'd have to say. One, there was a homeless man taking a bird bath in one of the water spouts in the middle of the meadow. This concerned me because I wasn't sure how bare the back or front side of the person might have been. I had my kiddo with me and I didn't want her to by chance see anything. We didn't bother saying anything to this individual but I'm sure that they knew that their semi-nude presene in the meadow was not the best thing. The other thing that wasn't so nice was the fact that the meadow was littered with empty cans of white claw and truly, along with a few water bottles, dirty socks and used masks. I saw a few maintenance folks who were there to clean out the trash cans but that was just it, they were there for the trash cans only, not to pick up any other trash that was in the bushes or along the walking path or anything like that. That was a disappointment to me. I picked up a few things and so did my lil one. I am glad that my lil one was eager to help pick up after others although the littering wasn't from anything that we'd done. We were lucky enough to have found parking directly across the street from where the crosswalk was. It was unfortunate that someone nearly ran us over despite our having the right away based on the signal's light to cross and the cars having the red light. Goodness. The car was so close. I was so upset that I for a moment I considered throwing my hydro flask at that car. Ugh!! I wanted to but couldn't let my lil one see something like that get the better of me. Anyway, the grounds were a tad muddy today. I had a tough time finding a day shady spot to sit in but luckily I had my own little mat to sit on. The benches were nice and clean although none of 'em were being used. My kiddo and I met with a friend of ours to do a lil impromptu photo shoot for the current fall season. It was the perfect venue for the photo shoot. I can definitely appreciate the fact that the furriest of friends aren't allowed inside of these gates. It makes it a bit nicer for families and friends to gather when we aren't having to keep such a close watch on the cutie pies that might approach our kiddos or vice versa. I know that I feel better knowing that my kiddo can run around a lil more freely and not have to worry about a doggie pouncing on her or a later one thinking that she is a chew toy. It has happened before, unfortunately, but luckily not at this park. read more

Amazing! I was here on a Friday around 1pm and had gotten Howlin Rays delivered to Little Tokyo and had a picnic here. Parking was pretty easy, we parked across the street from the nearest crosswalk that enters directly into the Silver Lake Meadow. Maybe it was just being in nature after all these months of staying in, but I was unbelievably happy when I was there, with the sun shining, having some local food, seeing dogs and small groups of people meeting up. read more

We were going to be in the area, so I wanted to check out a park to relax at. The address directs you to one side but wants you to turn into areas that are not actually driveable. But you can see it from the street, so you just need to look for parking. There's plenty of access points so just look for any nearby parking and walk over. Once we parked and walked in, we saw a lot of people (the groups were all a good distance away from each other). There's a welcome sign: Open dawn to Dusk only. The meadow is reserved for quiet enjoyment only. Please help us preserve this special place by observing the following rules: Soccer and organized sports prohibited. No cleats, keep the meadow green! No smoking. Dogs are prohibited. No bicycle riding. No vending or community activity without a permit. On the walkway around the border of the meadow/fencing that you can see the Silverlake Reservoir, there's a sign that says Silver Lake Meadow Native Plant Garden and Keep off Planted Areas. Throughout the trail are signs that say one way walk run path. Help keep the path open & safe. Follow the official city guidance: Face covering, social distancing. There were plenty of benches but it seemed like most people sat on the grass. We enjoyed a shaded bench seat for awhile to take it in and relax. It was quiet as nobody was too loud and nobody was playing music. read more

The meadow is one of the most beautiful, accessible, and well maintained green spaces on the East Side of LA. I'm a regular at the Silver Lake Reservoir walking/jogging around the path several times a week. People need a place to decompress or to take their children to enjoy outdoor spaces without crowds or one LA's most annoying features, the unleashed dog. The meadow is supposedly a dog free zone but the entitled dog owners that let their animals run loose in this area ruin the vibe for me. There are signs posted at every entrance to the Meadow clearly stating the fact that dogs aren't allowed but people ignore them. People come here to chill not to get into confrontations with dog owners about following the rules. There's no one around to keep dogs out in any sort of official capacity so it's a canine free for all. Be aware that when you get your blanket out to sunbathe or have a picnic with friends you might have to deal with people that have no respect for the meadow or it's absolutely reasonable rules. read more

A meadow? Nah. I wouldn't call this place a meadow. It's more like the Silver Lake LAWN. Meadows are meant to be wild. They are full of wildflowers, wild grasses, and bugs. This isn't that kind of a place. SLM is manicured like any perfect lawn. Yeah. It's more like a lawn, if you really think about it. And since it is more like a lawn, it makes it more conducive to basking in the sun, enjoying a picnic with friends, reading a book on a blanket, or flying a kite. And these are all good things. Though, I do admit, I would be more thrilled if this place was more like "Where the Wild Things Are". You know, a meadow. It's also a very safe place to sit, even at night, since no dogs are allowed to hang out here. So you don't have to worry about accidentally sitting on or stepping on poop. Come during sunset, and watch the colors of the reservoir change as the sun goes down. It's really beautiful. Nice to have, yet, another lovely place to hang in Silver Lake. read more

at long last, a large flat grassy lawn park has opened in silver lake. after many years of planning, the silver lake meadow is now open for business. and when i say business, i mean exactly the opposite. it's a 3-acre stretch of grass, tucked between the reservoir and the path around the reservoir, along the eastern side of the lake. if it is well-maintained (i'm looking at you, city of LA), it should be a great place for picnics, lying out in the sun, or throwing around a frisbee. two caveats: no dogs are allowed in the park. as of today (4/2, the day the park opened) they only have temporary (and small) signs that say this. also they say it is for "passive recreation", and suggest that no team sports are allowed. however, councilman tom labonge did say this to the LA times: "I don't think anyone is going to stop anybody from throwing a Frisbee." so yeah. it's a nice park. so enjoy it, and take care of it. read more

You won't have access to the lake from here but you definitely can view the lake and hidden hills from afar. This is the absolutely the perfect place to picnic. It is so peaceful and tranquil. There is plenty of grassy area to sit and relax. There are benches to sit on and a walking path to go for a nice stroll. Pssh, NYC! Central Park? Great Lawn? Fooey! We have a much newer, smaller, less accessible, less historical, green space right here in L.A. Boo-yah! Well, in all seriousness, it's no Central Park, but if I was to compare the closest thing we have to the vibe and character of Central Park in New York, I would say this is the place! LOVE IT! This "Meadow" is by far the best part of the whole Silver Lake Reservoir recreation area. I love how it's just this simple open green space, nicely landscaped, with room to just layout, tan, do yoga, read, picnic, play with kids, get annoyed by kids, look trendy, show off your pecs and/or tats, laugh at hipsters, just anything really. I love how it's directly connected to the dirt running path that encircles the reservoir and although I adore dogs, it's nice that they can't come in the Meadow and that their 81/2 x 11 size shit and incessant barking/fighting is not within audible or visible range. Also, according to the signs, barefoot recreation is encouraged. So like any polite guest in a home, feel free to leave your shoes at the door....until some Silver Lake punk steals them. As with anything in Silver Lake, parking can be a challenge depending on when you go. I've actually never had trouble finding parking to my surprise. And I have a feeling that's because everyone who comes here probably lives within walking distance. But you may have to search the streets if you're just one of those unlucky people with bad parking mojo. Assuming you'll go here when it's a nice day and on a Saturday or Sunday (because we're all just sheep), I've noticed that before noon, it's easy to find parking and the Meadow is fairly empty, but by the afternoon, every hipster has arisen from their moustache-print bed sheets or Little House on the Prairie quilts, put on their oversized glasses, and headed out to this Meadow to tan their pasty bodies (except of course the one Mipster who doesn't need to tan*). Afterwards, you can always explore the unique homes along the reservoir or walk down to Lamill Coffee and have a bite! Perfect L.A. day. The meadow is a really lovely place to visit if you want a nice view of the reservoir. Some days I come here to picnic with friend (bring something to sit on...grass is wet) or just stroll by. I really like that no dogs are allowed in this area. They are welcomed all around Silver Lake and even have two dog parks down the block. That means I don't have to really worry about stepping on or smelling dog poop that bad owners neglect to pick up! So again...PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND HERE! I'll secretly resent you and say mean things under my breath. Parking can be tricky and so is crossing the street to get to this area. You have been warned NOT to jaywalk. There are a lot of blindspots here and cars can go really fast. I generally park a quarter mile away and just walk around the reservoir. I see people doing yoga, playing volleyball, picnicing, napping, and just having a good time here. It's worth checking out, but just note that it isn't really big and can get crowded on weekends. read more

Okay all, I'm reluctant to give The Meadow in our neighborhood 5 stars, mainly, because we love it so much, and frankly, we don't want anyone else to visit it! If too many people find out it will turn into Echo Park's little lake riddled with homeless people and gang bangers. (No offense Echo Park, I do love you.) And, I mean no offense to you, you homeless dude or you - you gang bangers. But yes, The Meadow is fantastic. And as locals, we need to do all we can to keep this spot unknown. So maybe after this review we should start giving places we love 1 star in order to help keep other people out! Not us, just them. You know what I mean. Because the grass is luscious, and the breeze always seems just right at the Meadow here in Silver Lake almost 3 times a week, we fly our kites and have regular ole picnics (norman rockwell esque) with our friends, sometimes disguising some wine or beer in plastic cups and then meticulously cleaning up everything when finished, as though we'd never been there. There are some folks already leaving behind a crumpled trash, like a birthday napkin reading, "Happy Birthday Jake!" That's right I am calling you out Jake, you and your parents! For those who are bitter that this is not an "actual" meadow, hold on to your hats...... the Silver"lake" is actually a resevoir!!!! Gasp!! And..... the L.A. River isn't really a river at all in the traditional sense. (Although, it once was and certain sections are again). We're still in LA folks!! Now that thats been established....... Ah, yes!! Finally, a place to "walk barefoot in the park!!" This is highly unusual and risky at best in Los Angeles where dog parks, dog people and dog "doody" have literally taken over. In this little section of the Silverlake reservoir dogs are not allowed. So, go ahead and enjoy the breeze. Parents, you can stop worrying about the little ones proudly presenting you with a "stick" or "rock" they've found. The entire area is basically a small field or lawn with a curving decomposed granite pathway running through it that offers an alternate route for joggers and walkers as they make their way around the silverlake perimiter. The path is sprinkled with desert flowers and makes for a scenic stroll with a sweet view of the resevoir. When the meadow first opened, I would come here to lay on a blanket with my baby several times a week. Right before sunset was the perfect time for us, not too much heat and a beautiful veiw of the sun on the "lake." There's not much shade, so timing is key. There used to be a guy who would come at about that time and he'd play Peruvian guitar. It was lovely! This is the ideal location to throw a frisby, fly a kite, or have a picnic. There is no real parking nearby; if you're driving here, you will need to park in the neighborhood and walk in. Note to dog lovers: take the pooch to the doggie park just down the road a bit and quit your moanin!! read more

We love to take our daughter here on the weekends as she is walking now and is wanting to explore everything. It is safe and fenced in so she can roam around barefoot on the lawn and we don't worry about her escaping or getting scooped up by a kidnapper. The people who come here are nice and friendly. Mainly younger folks in their 20's and young families. Everyone is very kid-friendly and doesn't get all butthurt if your child wanders over to their blanket. There is no shade anywhere so you will need to bring a lawn umbrella if you have little ones. It is a must after May when the UV rays start kicking up. Don't fry your kid! There are no dogs allowed in this area so you can be barefoot and not step in land mines. =) read more

I'm glad there is a place like this available. It is a great place to start or end your run around the reservoir. I've seen people do yoga, tai chi, sun bath, and play a mini game of football here. It is big enough to roam and mess around without trampling on people laying on the grass. Overall, it is simply a great place to just chill. However, if you plan to lay on the grass don't forget to bring some sort of towel because the grass is often damp. Hours: Sunrise to sunset. Tip: No dogs (dog park is down the same block) No tables. A water fountain. Jogging trail: ~10,000 feet per lap Nothing sketchy about the people, or neighborhood. Lots of dogs on the jogging trail, and adjacent dog park Smooth, green, beautiful grass. Too bad the grass isn't long enough for the wind to comb through for dramatic effect. Which, in retrospect, is a good thing. Who would have thought to name this patch of grass a meadow? I think it's such a romantic name, meadow. It's what you read about in books, and watch kids run through, in movies. Silver Lake Meadow. It just rolls off your tongue. Okay, enough blabbering. Adjacent to Silver Lake Reservoir, this patch of grass is perfect for a picnic, yoga, flying kites (there is always a calming breeze), or throwing a football. It's not spacious enough to hold a soccer tournament there, but if it's empty enough, one could manage. I came here during the weekdays, at around 6. It wasn't crowded at all! Amazing. I threw a pigskin back and forth with my cousins, and we kicked a soccer ball around. Enough room to run and not worry about colliding with someone else. There was a yoga group year the edge, a family having a picnic, and another flying a kite with the young 'uns. A heart-warming sight, I have to say. This meadow does not allow dogs, for there is a separate patch of land, albeit without grass, to serve as the dog park, down the block. There is a fence around the park, and another that divides it and the reservoir. A jogging trail intersects, and circles the reservoir. I wish it were exactly a mile like the Historic Park next to Chinatown, but it doesn't really matter. There is a mild incline for about 1/10 of the way, so it can be mildly challenging. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are so many dogs, I couldn't help smiling the entire trail. Lovely. Bonus: It's a block away from the public Library! Study + Exercise = Bliss. This isn't a park, it's a meadow (a small one): no playground, no exercise equipment, just a big expanse of flat grassy ground. It's a nice spot to lie down and read, and a great spot to fly a kite. No dogs are allowed, so there's no poop to watch out for, and there's enough space that you can get far away enough from others to not hear their conversations. I came walkin' over here with my wife. She and I walked past it with our dogs a few times. That's when I thought, this would be a nice spot to have a lil lunch sometime. So, next time, wifey and I came down here, it's just down the hill from our house, and had a lil picnic. It was nice to haev a grassy area to just hang out and not worry about dogs and their droppings. It stinks that there isn't a whole lot of parking around this area. I've seen so many people try to park where they shouldn't and some who run across the street right at the curve where oncoming traffic can't see them. I think that they need a cross walk here. Oh man. This is a nice sun bathing spot. I'm not saying that you should come out here with your bathing suit on or anything but you get the picture. Lots of families and kiddies come here.
