Snow wrecked the team's plans, my bones were screaming, and my inner voice said: Koreatown. Massage. Now. The very friendly girl at the Moxy front desk recommended Silver Lake Spa and casually dropped the words "mid-week special." $55 for one hour. Sign. Me. Up. No questions asked. Just one boundary: if I get poked, I'm out. The place is modest and unassuming. JJ was my therapist. Between my moaning, grunting, and aggressively pointing at my neck and shoulders (note to self: don't lift weights the day before a six-hour flight), we agreed on a relaxing Thai/Swedish combo. Friends... JJ knew exactly what she was doing. She found knots in my skull. My actual skull. Then proceeded to perform some kind of kung-fu Thai magic where I felt what used to be my brain turn back into mush--in the best way. She moved to my shoulders and back, mixing deep Thai stretches with light kneading, locating muscle kinks like five-carat diamonds and polishing them until they no longer existed. At one point I'm fairly certain I was purring. HR would not approve. Then came the oil and relaxation portion. Pure bliss. She was gentle, focused, and so intentional that I may or may not have teared up slightly. One hour was simply not enough. I could've moved in. If you live in LA--go see JJ. If you're visiting--go see JJ. It was a glorious hour, and I'm still wiping the drool off my face. This girl is going straight to bed. But I will find JJ again. Just don't tell HR. read more

Afterward, my partner mentioned he received hot stones and additional services that I did not receive, even though we both booked the same Thai massage. My massage was average, while my partner said his was great. I also didn't feel like the space was the cleanest, but for the price, it was acceptable. The massage itself was good and the therapist clearly knew what she was doing. I booked a two hour deep tissue session for $130 and the work was solid throughout. The only issue came at the end. The shop has a sign saying tips for a two hour massage start at $30. I brought $35 cash to tip, handed it to the therapist, and she told me $50 would be better because she "had to work through a lot of muscle." I've been to a lot of massage places in LA and it's not typical to be pushed for a higher tip after already giving above the posted amount. It made the ending a little awkward considering the session itself was good. Overall, the massage quality was there, but the tip pressure took away from the experience. Came here for a couples combination massage not knowing what to expect. Booking an appointment was easy and the ladies are very nice. Space is clean, calming and there is free parking. Compared to other places in the area, they have decent prices. The massage was more painful than relaxing. My masseuse did get out my knots in my back but I felt like I was walking out bruised more than relaxed. I'm not sure if this is normal for all massages but I felt slightly violated at certain parts of the massage. I take it as an accident but she grazed the edge of my private area twice. At one point it felt like she was touching my behind area that shouldn't be touched. Again, I understand it's a massage and most likely an accident, it was just a really uncomfortable feeling. Two things I didn't like at all: 1. She gave me a facial massage, after touching my feet and other areas. I understand if it was part of the massage but I feel like that should be disclosed as an option. There is no slip, so my face was being dragged around. Tugging at dry skin causes wrinkles and does more harm than good. 2. She pressed REALLY hard into my pelvis that it STILL hurts even after 24 hours. Is that normal? She pressed directly on the sides of my private areas where my ovaries are. This hurt SO BAD. Is this normal for a thai massage? because I've never heard about this before. I had to tell her again that I didn't want that. (the above was not done to my bf, only me. We booked the same service and were in the same room but we seemed to have completely different services). Overall the massage was still nice as she got out all of my knots in the areas needed. She was also really attentive in terms of getting my hair in the way. I really REALLY wanted to like this place because the ladies are so nice and friendly. I just wished they explained or disclosed more about the process/steps. We should've been walked through each process and what points are going to be triggered. The pelvis area hurt so much, it's been 26hrs + since the massage and it STILL hurts. a woman's ovaries should not feel that type of direct pressure. It felt like the equivalent of a man being kicked down there. I'm really upset about this. This definitely should've been disclosed as it's a HIGHLY SENSITIVE AREA. We asked them the difference between each, but no additional info was provided, only that it's a combination between two massages. If I knew that a facial massage and a pelvic press was included I would have opted out of it. read more

I came with my Mom here to get some massages and it was amazing. This is truly a hidden gem. Tony and Ruby are true professionals and took care of us while targeting our areas of stress. This hands down was the best massage we have had in a long time. This will now be our go to from now on. Don't come here if it's you're birthday or not. Unfortunately it was mine and I did not have a good experience. The lady is literally stepping on your back so hard with her feet that it's no way to feel enjoyable. The face resting part on the table you lay down on was uncomfortable and the cushion was leaning to the side where I can feel the hard plastic behind it. Then she didn't give me the back rub with her hands or elbows as I expected and she couldn't even tell me what type of massage she was giving me. I had a gift certificate for almost a year and I was waiting to go, and I finally was able to make my way over to Silverlake spa and it was a great experience. I do a lot of running and CrossFit for my muscles were really sore. My technician was very strong and experienced, and the bed was really warm. It was very pleasurable and really helped my muscles to release a lot of of the lactic acid. The location is a little difficult as it's on that triple corner of Virgil, Temple and Silverlake Boulevard but once you're in the plaza, there's free easy parking and there's other good businesses within the plaza. The sweetest couple ran the place. We got a couples a massage. The place is very small, but it was a great experience. I've been here three times and the first two visits were amazing! I had Amy and she was an incredible masseuse. However, last night I booked a 90 minute deep tissue massage and filled out the paperwork that instructed the masseuse to focus on my neck and shoulders. The masseuse spent way too much time on my legs and butt almost to the point where I was weirded out. At a certain point, I told her to please focus on my neck and shoulders and she did for a bit, but then stopped to start to rub/scratch my head and then put a jade roller on my face. It was one of the worst massages I've ever had. Hopefully this is just a new person who hasn't been properly trained. If I were to return again, I would just make sure to get someone as amazing as Amy. read more

I waited 20 min and nobody came out to help me so I went to the back and had to yell for someone to come out. They said I had to wait another 15 min. If they came out when I first arrived and told me the situation I wouldn't have had a problem, and just canceled my appt. And came another day. They had no record of my appt which is unacceptable. I came here a few weeks ago because I hadn't been able to use my ClassPass credits the previous month and had quite a few to use up. The best way to use them is through wellness options and I really needed a massage. I booked a 120 minute deep tissue massage and it was amazing. I was really planning to start coming here every other week because their prices are amazing too! Unfortunately, I have an epileptic doggo and he started having seizures yesterday morning. I can't leave him for several hours after having one because he often times has them in clusters and he could really get hurt. I called around 9:45 the first time and the woman who answered told me she couldn't help me and that I would need to speak to the owner. I am also a business owner in the health and wellness field who also utilizes classpass for clients. I know how it works. I called a few more times later with no answer and finally got a hold of another woman again in the late afternoon. I explained what the situation was from earlier that day and she said she would call the owner and talk to him, she even took my name and number. Nothing. This morning I got the late charge from classpass. I would have been more than happy to reschedule this massage through the business and pay them the $140 directly for the massage and then continue to book regularly through classpass because I was truly having an emergency situation. As a business owner myself, when my clients call me like this, I am more than understanding because life happens. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way. I was even telling my clients about this place (even though I have an in-house massage therapist) because so often I have classpass clients in the same situation needing to use unused credits before they expire. Absolutely will not be doing that anymore and will find another place to use my credits. read more

My thighs were on fire like I walked in heels drunkenly down sunset for a few miles. I was not prepared to be folded like a pretzel. It took me back to look high school footballs days being stretched by a trainer or my communion priest. Be careful because your junk will be all out. I called in randomly after finding them on Yelp on a Monday afternoon. They were kind enough to squeeze me in on very short notice. It was practically a walk in. Benni did such a thorough job and was so welcoming. She stepped all over me, honed in on my extremely tight knots without giving up, somehow still had time to smooth out the entire rest of my body, used hot stones, and then stretched me out like a pretzel! I was so impressed she fit all of that into an hour long session. Prices are so reasonable. Payment was convenient. Parking was free in a garage with a super nice security guard. My sister booked a 60 minute "couples" massage for her and I. Upon arrival the facility looked clean and COVID protocols were strictly enforced. I got the combination Thai/Swedish massage with Tan and my sister got the exact same with Mary. We agreed that they both made great effort in finding and getting rid of knots on all the right areas, not just the shoulders. The hot stones were a plus! The amount of oil just perfect. Great strength and exact pressure were applied to my sore legs, being folded into a pretzel and cracking every stretch was wonderful. His masseuse had a hang nail and left him in more pain then he came with. #2 my masseuse had me oil slathered and her hair kept touching my back. This place has ruined me, in that my standards are now set really high and every other massage I've gotten has fallen short in comparison. Also, they have an adorable/quiet greeter, Miu Miu :) The 1-hour massage was amazing. You can tell them the pressure that you want and what problem areas to focus on.
