He used to visit Lake Elsinore but decided it was too busy, dirty and crowded so he decided to buy a plot of land in the middle of nowhere (sorry Newberry springs) and build a private lake for his friends and family. He eventually sold most of the properties. Lake Jodie is beautiful and quiet, and at most has five boats on it at a time. It's the perfect place for people to learn how to ski or wakeboard. It's definitely a different experience than Arrowhead or Mojave. It is a private lake, so you have to know somebody who has a property there to go. There isn't much in the area, it neighbors a pistachio farm, a Mormon church, and a horse shelter. It is not far from the American Legion, the Barn (bar), and a gas station.

We planned on staying about 2 hours and told him he could catch as many as he wanted. Big mistake for us. The little booger caught 4 trout and a carp that was 1/2 his size. At $8.00 per fish, it was pricey. But......We were paying for the experience. He loves fishing. We would have paid $$$ to go to an amusement park and the memories wouldn't have been the same. Lots of great hiking spots, lots of folks fishing and overall a wonderful atmosphere. There's even a Frisbee golf course. Very clean and well-maintained. Parking is included in the entrance fee. With that being said, it was still a decent amount of trash in the grassy areas but there were a lot of people there celebrating parties etc. my main gripe would be the lack of cleanliness of the restrooms. But once again, we came on a holiday weekend and there were a lot of people out.

They also have a yearly pass which is $30. They also have bathrooms close by. We fortunately found parking and unpacked and went down to the lake. There's plenty of space for a lot of people. You can fish, swim and even kayak. There is also a spot to rent out equipment to do all that. We brought our own boats for kayaking. The lake isn't too big, you can go down the whole thing within 10min or less. Very small but it's very calm and beautiful. My family loved it. It's a great spot to hang out and relax. We'll come back again if we're ever in the area.
