I write this having been a guest of a recent funeral service at Silver Lining Cremations. Located near the Auto Park in Escondido, the outside of the building is quite simple and nondescript. It's not a location that you might expect to find a cremation place, as it's quite industrial/business park-ish, but inside is very clean, new, modern and tastefully decorated. When we entered the building, there was a small lobby with a couple of chairs, a coffee table and a slim table where flowers and a guest- book were placed, along with a TV screen with a photo of the deceased. Guests and family lingered here until we were allowed to proceed to the service room at exactly the time of the service. The lobby isn't very large. I would have preferred to have been able to go and take a seat in the service room earlier. (There were approx 28 attending in our case). Through double doors off the lobby, the service room is pleasantly decorated with dark collapsible chairs, a large carpeted rug, muted dark blue/grey paint, a curtain and 2 TV screens for displaying photo slideshows. The people who spoke in the service were provided a microphone. Quiet music played. There was a slight technical difficulty with the slideshow, but it was solved in a few minutes by a staff member. At the end of the ceremony, two staff members escorted the coffin through the curtain at the front. We then filed into another small room where we had refreshments, provided by the family. Street parking was available on Aldergrove Ave or S Andreasen Dr. There is a small gated lot behind the building, but I believe this is for staff and close family. I did not see any information on their web site about parking, but this would have been useful. A virtual video link was provided for family and friends who couldn't attend, but the camera wasn't very close and the audio wasn't the greatest, which was disappointing. I have witnessed 3 other funerals (in other locations) virtually and they have been better. The owner was not particularly present and maybe she does this to give the family space, but I personally would have liked her to have been more present and sort of act as a coordinator/conductor for the time we were there. Just my personal take. I hope this information is useful for anyone planning a cremation or attending one at Silver Linings. It is a convenient and intimate location for those in San Diego's North County. read more

During an incredibly difficult time, they consistently went above and beyond, especially with important details while I was out of the country shortly after my father's passing, just 25 days after my mother's. I don't live near Valley Center where my father passed. Silver Lining made the process of getting my father cremated and shipped to me so very easy. They are very kind and patient. Pricing was very fair and less than I expected. I highly recommend them and thank them for making a difficult time easier by handling this for me. I did not select an Urn yet so my father's remains weee sent in a sturdy plastic box, bagged remains inside secured with a metal tag, enclosed in a velvet bag... and shipped very promptly via UPS with appropriate protection and box labeling for safe and secure delivery. The day he passed was obviously traumatic and when my son was being taken from our home we spoke the the driver asking he he could remove my son's necklace and bracelet that each had sentimental value to our family. Woah! Let me just say David is the best. I contacted Silver Lining regarding preneed. He explained it, and I said to myself, "This is the right place. I can trust them" The issue is that I'm deaf, in a wheelchair and transportation is also an issue for me. David said we could do everything through text via phone. Which worked perfectly for me. He made everything easy and simple and also answered every question I had. He also offered to help find a cremation place for my little senior dog, which I appreciate a lot. I understand most people are scared and dread the thought of ever having to contact a funeral home, but... the truth is we're all headed down the same road through different pathways of life. I'd rather get everything taken care of now. That way, if I pass away before my family, then I'll be able to die/rest in peace knowing I didn't leave them with the financial burden, and they'll be able to grieve in peace. You never want to be in a place where you are writing a review for a place like this.. but here we are. My father passed suddenly, and at the recommendation of EPD, was taken to Silver Linings. I reviewed the website before calling to arrange services, and was pleasantly surprised at how clearly pricing and services were laid out. When I called - I was greeted by the amazing owner, Tatiana, who was kind and comforting. I was a whole entire mess, and she immediately made me feel comfortable and informed about what needed to be done, steps to take, etc. it will always stick out in my mind that she said "first, let's just breathe, we will handle this" We were able to handle the arrangements entirely by text and email, a couple of short calls. She made the process feel less like some wonky business transaction, and so very much like a gift to honor my dad. My absolute favorite part was "special requests" - I received a text full of recommendations of items to include, notes, poems, letters. PLAYLISTS. They have huge speakers set up, and will treat your loved one to the concert of your choosing during their cremation. As the daughter of two music aficionados, this was chefs kiss perfection for me. Nothing gave me more joy than making something special and meaningful of our times together, all the fun rocking times we had. Maybe you're preference is an outfit, a picture or a gift. It will be accommodated with so much love and kindness. I was not personally capable of an ID view, but a member of our family was, and commented on the grace and care of the staff during their visit. Including debunking long held myths surrounding the process. This is a beautiful and lovingly curated family business. Created with the intent, as I was personally told, of giving families options that were not available to the owners themselves when they lost a loved one. No one ever wants to be making these decisions, or to deal with this time, but I can't imagine going thru this without Tatiana. I don't even know how to end this. I'll start off by saying that 2023 was filled with more hardship than I ever imagined, when my beloved mother had started to physically and mentally decline. It seemed to set upon us so quickly and without warning. Needless to say, I was not prepared. Through all the visits to her place, to the hospital runs, to the rehabilitation care facility stays. Not to mention trying to handle all her affairs. I was overwhelmed to say the least. On 1/1/2024, New Years morning day, my mom decided to leave this earth to be at peace in heaven. I did not plan the next step, nor did I contact a crematorium to prepare for the very day I faced. Cremation was my mother's wish. In a pinch, I googled mortuaries and crematoriums near me and chose the very first, fitting titled service, Silver Linings Cremations, in Escondido. I was worried I would not get an answer as it was New Years Day. However, much to my surprise, the line on the other side picked up and that is when I met Tatiana. I explained my situation to her and she was immediately compassionate and sensitive to my sudden needs and concerns. After a short conversation, she had arranged for the pick-up of my mother and scheduled a time for us to meet at her facility. Already, a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. It was from then on that Tatiana guided me through the process and understanding of cremation. My stress lifted with every step of the way. I can not say enough wonderful things about my experience with this company. I was watching my mom transition into the end of her life and I was very sad and not sure what to do to make arrangements for her. From the moment Tatiana answered the phone, I felt that I was talking to a friend. She was so sweet and nurturing and just listened to what I was going through. She explained what to expect when my moms time came and how my moms body would be handled from time of pick up to cremation. I was able to include a couple things to be cremated with her; picture of my brothers and I and a favorite nightgown of hers. Many of us go about our days not thinking about what our families will need to deal with after we die. Never in a million years did I ever think I would need to plan a funeral, celebration of life, or any other type of service for my children. On April 23, 2023, tragedy struck our family. I found myself needing to plan something for my daughter Courteney and granddaughter Amaya. Through unbearable grief I had no idea what to do or who to call. My daughter Megan started the search and found several she recommended. My husband and I called Silver Lining Cremations in Escondido and met with Tatiana. From the moment we met, I knew we would be working with her. She was gentle, kind, loving, caring, patient, and understanding. She stepped us through the process slowly and empathized with the enormous grief we were experiencing. She gave us space when we needed and gentle nudges when we struggled to make decisions. She kept us informed of everything she was doing and everyone she had contacted to make the service happen. She partners with several funeral homes including a non-denominational one in Vista. At the celebration of life, after everyone had spoken, we struggled to say our final good-byes. Tatiana invited anyone who wanted to take flowers from the arrangements and put them in their caskets to do so. With gentle care, she stood by my side and hugged me tightly as we both cried. I don't have a good track record of writing Yelp reviews, but felt it was my duty to lift this business up so here goes. I tried to start this several times and don't feel like I have the sufficient words to do this review justice. Our family cannot thank or recommend Silver Lining Cremations enough. 5/5 stars is not enough. They took such Tender care of us while we navigated a difficult and unknown process. SLC was my first call researching facilities. Ryan was my first point of contact and couldn't have been more patient with me as I didn't know what questions to ask, and he had to repeat everything he said. I was fortunate to be calling ahead of the passing. His perky voice put me in a good mood immediately. Shortly after, I got a call a follow up call from Tatiana making sure I didn't have additional questions. We called on their services a month later. They handled everything for us with the hospital. They went well Above and Beyond for us. They were responsive with our dozens of specific questions at any hour via text. They could have been frustrated with us, but never once batted an eye. They helped us pivot from what we thought would be a small gathering in their main room that fits 36 chairs, to opening up their warehouse facility when our guests grew to 100+. With the chair and handmade curtain, it was a nice set up when the guest filed in. It didn't feel like a cold warehouse. (We set up a TV with slide show and that connected the two rooms). We were able to expand to the outdoor parking for the bubble release. They moved some cars in the immediate area. The white brick wall and trees were nice. They let us come in early to personalize the room, and got creative with rearranging and adding furniture (and our decorations) for the set up. They surprised us by adding more beautiful decoration that fit our theme the morning of. They went out of their way to give our niece the most beautiful sea send off. It never felt like they were doing a job. They did all this out of the kindness of their hearts. It felt like they were treating us like family, and we felt our young niece was in the best care with them as soon as they got the middle of the night call. She went into their personal care within hours with their own vehicle (not a third party). And honestly it was nice to see their nice mercedes sprinter and not something that looked dreary or medical. She was escorted in style. Their facility is intimate, homey, peaceful, and welcoming. It's small but Mighty, including their mighty staff of 3 - Tatiana, Stanley, and Ryan whom were all hands on, personable and charming. They get to know you along the process. While we were doing a difficult task, it was almost as sad to say goodbye to them because they were all amazing. We feel bonded in this tragic situation and walking away with a glow from this experience with them. They are a young business but you wouldn't know it. The rest of our family is buried elsewhere in North County, and I cannot speak to the other mortuaries in the area. But I know that this is the one we full heartily recommend over and over. It feels like they wrap you in love to help you with this difficult time and your loved one will be in the best care. Best of luck to you if you are reading this and need their services.
