Nelssy is a truly caring angel who spent so much time with us. My sister and I felt so much more informed after speaking with her. Noah and team members did a great job coordinating my mother-in-law's funeral. They had the MOST REASONABLE prices and they let me negotiate a few items. Plus, Noah did not force me to purchase any extras. We went with the most cost effective casket and it looked fine. IMO, there is no reason to spend more than $1,000 for casket. Noah let me come in a few days before the funeral to test the video slideshow to make sure it played back without any issues. Noah/team did a great job driving to the burial site and getting the casket carried to the grave. Noah regularly checked in with me before, during and after the funeral and burial to check on us, coordinate, etc. (sometimes a quick question came up, like "who is going to carry the casket?" since my husband and family/friends wanted to do that) The only bummer was day of - both downstairs restrooms were broken so if our family/friends wanted to use the restroom, they needed to go upstairs. I believe the restrooms were fixed by the time the funeral was over. read more

We received exceptional service from East County Mortuary. We were told by hospice on a Saturday that we should start making arrangements. I looked up the top mortuaries that handle cremation in the El Cajon area on Yelp and found EC Mortuary. I left a voicemail with the answering service on a Saturday and heard back within an hour from Robert, the owner. After speaking with Robert, I realized how important it was to our family to have a family-owned business that also owns the crematorium. There are very few around that do both. Most places send your loved one off to a crematorium owned by someone else. By using EC Mortuary, their employees are the ones to handle your loved one the entire time. There are no hand-offs to other people or companies. Their prices are extremely reasonable and they didn't try to up-sell anything we weren't interested in. After my father's passing, hospice called them and they sent two very polite and respectful employees to pick up my father's body. Our family was gathered around my father as they handled him and they couldn't have been kinder or more professional about this very delicate job. We were contacted the next day by Dacia. She was wonderful in helping to guide us through the process. She handled getting the death certificates for us, discussed urns for the ashes, and also contacted Arlington National Cemetery where my father will be interred. All of this was handled for us with no extra charge. Even though my mother purchased an urn from elsewhere, they still offered to hold his cremains until the urn was delivered and transfer the ashes for us. I don't leave much people reviews but wanted to leave one for this business because they deserve it, my dad was dying from cancer for several months and as his disease progressed we were told we should prepare for His passing, we contacted ECM and they helped guide us though the whole transition, he went though hospice and all the above and everything was prepared ahead of time thanks to ECM which really reduced the stress of everything. During and even after the funeral everything was so professional. We got a phone call when the death certificate arrived and we picked it up.
