We came to key west on our honeymoon with a budget. Silver Palms Inn fit our budget. It is centrally located to duval street as well as to the scooter rental, CVS, subway, laundromat and beach. Room was nice and clean. Staff was friendly. The only downside was the breakfast. Cereal bowl were very small. If your expecting a holiday inn type breakfast, this is not the place that has breakfast like that. Other than the breakfast , the hotel was perfect. read more

Love silver palms inn. It's very clean and rooms are cute with key west feel to them. We almost always rent bikes here which is convenient and only $13 per day. You get complimentary drinks for each night of your stay. Friendly staff that always accommodates. Breakfast is standard which in my opinion most hotels which have complimentary breakfast is usually standard. I would recommend this place to anyone! Great place to stay!!! read more

New, modern decor, with balcony and heated pool. Room was very clean, staff was helpful and friendly, and hotel was walk able to everything. I wish they had some more indigenous landscaping on the property, but that would probably have left no room for parking. Also, no hot tub, which was a bummer. Put this hotel anywhere else and I would give it four stars, but if we had booked earlier, I would've opted for something more Islandy. We stayed here a month ago and were very impressed with all of the renovations done; Its a gorgeous boutique-like hotel. The rooms are beautiful and modern and its pretty convenient to all everything (a nice walk). We really liked the free continental breakfast too. There is plentiful parking and the staff was superfriendly. My only recommendation to other guests is that if you are sensitive to traffic noise, to be sure to ask for a room not near the side facing route 1. They provide earplugs if you are in those rooms or suites, but because Key West is always bumping, you probably aren't coming here to sleep much anyways! read more

We stayed at the Silver Palms Inn for this past 4th of July weekend. We had seen the sleek website with very modern rooms that were sporting an Art Deco Theme. We had heard the hotel had undergone a recent renovation. From the moment we checked into our junior suite until check out. Our stay was great. The staff at the front desk, pool and housekeepers were all pleasant. By the time we got to our room a crib was waiting for our 1 year old without even asking. They noticed the baby during check in and we didn't ask for a crib since we have our Baby Bjorn Travel Crib. That is a level of service unexpected. The breakfast is a standard continental breakfast with some delicious local pastries. It mainly consists of cereals, bagels, toast, OJ, and fresh coffee and fruit. The pool area was clean and comfy with some nice satellite radio in the background. There is currently no bar service. The fitness room is small but what you need for the quick workout. The junior suite we stayed in had a comfy king size bed with a separate room with couch and bathroom. We had a mini balcony overlooking the action on Truman Ave. The hotel is a walk to Duval St but close to some very nice shops and restaurants. Overall the hospitality, staff, and management were all great and we would highly recommend this to any family and friends. We'll be back at the Silver Palms during our next visit to the Keys! read more

I stayed at Silver Palms Inn with 3 friends for 2 nights the week before Thanksgiving 2013 and it was an awesome experience. It was reasonably priced compared to many others in the area (we paid ~$200/night for a room 2 queen size beds and a private balcony facing the pool), pretty spacious, clean, great location, good variety at breakfast, free parking, onsite bike rentals, the staff was superb. The staff in this hotel are fantastic. One of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The little balconies facing the pool are an added bonus. We stayed here with our kids for a couple of days just before Christmas. Overall the hotel was very clean, beds were comfy and shower was huge! It was great to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The pool was nice, small but kept kids entertained. Our only "complaints" that are pretty trivial are: the continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, would have been nice to have at least a waffle maker or something. Also, the parking lot is tiny, but parking was free, so shouldn't complain. Would stay here again. read more

This is a great little property. The best part was the staff everyone of them were kind and polite and very willing to help with anything. The hotel is walking distance from anything you might need. The cleanliness of the property is is spot on and very clean. There was plenty of parking for those that have a rental car. Which in key west many places parking is a problem. Free continental breakfast is nice so you can then for lunch and dinner enjoy one of the many amazing restaurants. Like a block away is wing masters, better than sex (desert restaurant). I highly recommend this place and if we return to key west we would most likely stay here. read more

Very clean rooms. Updated. Pool area is very nice and I utilized it. The pool has a small bar with beer, wine, and even frozen drinks. Reasonably prices as well. Beer $5-$7. Wine $6-$8. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. My boyfriend and I arrived a couple days before NYE for our anniversary and from the minute we arrived, everything was smooth and pleasant. The front desk employees are very polite and helpful. Anything we needed, they brought it right over, and if we were having trouble with something, they were on it right away, with no attitude. The pool area is pretty nice and there's a bartender out there, which is awesome. There's a simple continental breakfast in the morning in the lobby. The rooms are clean and cute, comfortable and quiet. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience here and would stay again. I wish I could give this place 10+ stars. It's cute, CLEAN, eco friendly, the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. I could go on and on. We haven't even left yet and are already planning our next stay. Even the morning breakfast is superb. A generous spread of fruit, homemade bagels, coffee, muffins (try the lemon poppyseed) and a lovely man making omelets by the pool. I had such high hopes after reading the reviews from Google but after the 4 nights here I'll never make this mistake again. First off the pics on here are certainly misleading. Nothing is as big or as nice as they make them look here. The pool is very small. We checked in and were greeted nicely by one guy and the other acted as though I were an alien when I asked a question. We found our room to be a nice looking room overall but a little too small. Good TV but could use HBO. On our first night we found our white socks turning black from their tile floors. We didn't think much of it and would let them clean them the next day. Well we erred and left the Privacy Please sign in the door. We got back to the room at 5 PM and took of our shoes to relax a bit. Within 30 minutes both of our socks were black as can be. Neither of us wore our socks outside at any time. I went to the desk and they apologized and said they would tell housecleaning. The next day we went out again and came back later in the day. The room had been cleaned while we were out. Within 10 minutes of wearing socks in our room (clean socks) we again noticed our socks turning black. I told the front desk and they had the housekeeping supervisor meet us in our room. She saw our socks and immediately started justifying how she cleaned and scrubbed the floors. We never doubted her but she pretty much made us feel like we were lying. We both went to bed that night with filthy feet and this time we did not care if we got the sheets or bedspread dirty. The next day we went out again and came back at 3PM to a dirty room. We wrongly assumed they would make certain the room was really cleaned this time. This time I knew I needed to speak with the manager. (Big mistake) He gave some excuse that they were waiting for us to return so they could clean in front of us. WTF. Really? What makes them think guests are going to want to sit and watch them clean? We were on vacation for Christ;s sake. The manager asked if he could bring in a white towel and wipe the floor to see for himself. I said sure and he came in with a clean towel. Well guess what. He pulled up a dirty towel and the look on his face was precious. The cleaning supervisor showed up and he reluctantly showed her. Her face too was one of shock. We asked them to leave as we wanted to pack up to go home the next day. He said he would speak to the owner and even though they have my cell number I have not heard a word from him. Another thing is this place has no guest wash. Prepare to go to a dump down the street to do laundry or pay someone else to do it. My wife and I are in our 50's and this was to be a dream vacation for us as this is not something we can afford to do on any kind of regular basis. I won't say Silver Palms ruined it but it certainly was not as enjoyable as it should have been. Management could have done better here and they failed. read more

Silver Palms is located away from the noise of Duval St but close enough to walk to most restaurants. Mallory Square is less than 20 minutes away on foot. Our room was spacious and clean. One of the features we really appreciated was that the room doors close very slowly so as not to slam loudly. Decent breakfast though not huge, the pool area is nice, staff friendly & helpful, and there is covered parking. This is a nice place for families. read more

This was by far the worst hotel experience I or my friends have EVER had, and the establishment deserves nothing more than zero stars--STAY AWAY!! We were hoping for a fun night in Key West, which we fortunately were still able to accomplish, but this hotel's management made certain we left the vacation spot on a sour note. To be fair, our stay started out okay. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were impressed with its new and clean appearance (it just opened a few weeks ago), the nice pool area (although small), and the spacious free parking. The check-in process went smoothly, and the front-desk receptionist was quite welcoming. When we went to our room, we all agreed that the room was nice and spacious, although lacking in certain amenities (i.e. iron). We immediately called for a roll-away bed because we had a fifth guest (which contributed to the disaster that ensued, which I will explain later). To our surprise, they did not have any (nor did they even have matches). Later on in the evening, when we asked if they had a corkscrew, the front-desk receptionist said that they did, but asked that we go down to the lobby to get it ourselves, which we thought was odd. The rest of the stay was mediocre and unremarkable until... The general manager ran to my car screaming as we were leaving after checking out. For about five minutes she berated us like little children, accusing us of "trashing the room," and threatening to charge us the $250 security deposit. Needless to say, I did not agree to this. Her response was to demand us to clean the room ourselves. When one of my friends asked if she could help me, the manager replied "No, this is not a sorority house. You have to wait off the property." Shockingly, we were NOT being "punked." In the interest of full disclosure, we did not leave the room in sparkling condition. We had some trash (which we placed in the garbage can), there was some melted ice on the dresser, and the floor was a little mucky (not filthy, just in need of a quick mop). In our opinion, and I think in any reader's opinion, this does NOT constitute trashing a hotel room -- nothing was damaged and no excessive cleaning was needed to return the room to its original condition. The frantic, outraged, and frankly disheveled general manager (soon accompanied by her toothless side-kick, referred to as the "executive housekeeper," which probably means that he is the ONLY housekeeper) continued to rant and rave until we arrived at the room to investigate the "crime scene." When we were walking to the room, we realized that the manager hadn't even bothered to verify that it was in fact trashed. Instead, she had relied only on one housekeeper's word, which became apparent as she started off in completely the wrong direction and upon entering the room, displayed an obvious sense of disappointment. To her surprise, the room was not trashed -- it was merely a little messy. So, when I offered to mop (I know I shouldn't have even offered, but I just wanted to get out of there), she dismissed the whole cleaning idea and just had me wipe the melted ice off the dresser. Rather than admitting that she had overreacted and apologizing, however, this tyrant decided to attack us from a different angle--she accused us of having 5 guests instead of 4, which was the limit for the reservation. I remember that she kept yelling the same sentence over and over (making me question her psychiatric wellness): "we have you on camera! we have you on camera!" Again, in the interest of full disclosure, we did have 5 guests and knew the reservation was for 4, but didn't think it would be a big deal and didn't know that we could have paid an extra 15 dollars to put a 5th person on the reservation. I told this to her, but she was not interested in any explanation. She started another tantrum, this time even more degrading, calling me "uncivilized" and telling me that I broke the law, among other comments that should NEVER be told to a customer by a hotel manager. Without even asking how many people I had put on the reservation (or having investigated it before making the accusation), she immediately demanded that I pay 15 dollars for each extra person. When I told her that the reservation was for 4 so I would agree to pay $15 for the 5th person, she said, "we'll see about that." The manager's tantrum persisted as we made it out of the room and down to the front-desk to sort out the additional charge, even up to the point when I signed the credit card receipt (at which time she accused me of not really signing). We did make it out of this hotel in one piece, but needless to say, our dignity had been violated. I have never experienced such gross unprofessionalism in my life, and as a result, felt that it is my duty to warn fellow vacationers: BEWARE. read more

This was a completely overpriced hotel and is really a motel. The cost was $300/night so I assumed it would be a nice resort. I was very nervous when we were 0.2 miles away and we saw a strip club and two pawn shops. The room smelled so strongly of disinfectant we couldn't stand to be in the room and checked out shortly after checking in. The ad said an island view. Which I wrongly assumed was an island other than Key West but it was actually Truman St The staff couldn't help us and the manager refused to refund our money. We went to the Reach which was cheaper, on the water, and significantly nicer. Oh and my pool at home is bigger than their pool, the pictures are very deceiving. If you are use to resort amenities this is not the place for you! read more

I stayed here recently and woke up with multiple bed bug bites on my arms and legs. The air conditioner thermostat's digital screen was broken upon arriving, however the air still worked so we didnt think much of it, just pushed the arrow up or down to adjust the temperature. Upon leaving we were told we had to pay for the broken thermometer, even after we explained it was already broken when we arrived. Management was incredibly rude when confronting us about this and would not back down. I do not recommend staying here. read more

Teaser rate caught my eye at Silver Palms Inn but after all the taxes & hotel fees, we ended at $398/night - at this 3-star hotel. For $398/night, you too can wake up everyday to backed up sewage gas in your room. The common areas are gritty. The room attendants did a great job but somehow we still ended up with black on the bottoms of our feet. The breakfast was technically continental but consisted of the least quality possible with boiled eggs so over cooked you can bounce them. Front desk is neutral, not rude but not special. Hallways offer acoustics of neighboring guests comings/goings at all hours. Onsite parking available but first come first serve. The room AC requires your room key to be inserted into the wall slat while in the room or it shuts off. Conveniently, despite our key being used as described, our AC would not work after 8am the day of check-out. Will we return or recommend this place? Absolutely not. read more
