Even though my son was going to use their venue for a wedding 15 months from the date he canceled and had put a significant amount down on the down payment, they did not offer to refund not one dime. It wasn't like they had done any prep at all for the wedding, but felt comfortable keeping $5000 for just doing a walk through. I had my baby shower there this past weekend and it was beautiful! The staff were very friendly and the space & food were amazing. The booking was very easy as I randomly walked in one day just to get pricing and booked that day ! Gina and all the other staff were easy to communicate with and very accommodating. The only thing I can say was I was anticipating a clear view of the water which we spoke about in my booking (and the main reason I chose the venue ) but they were set up for a Christmas event in the covered outdoor space which completely blocked the view Of the water . I went here for a tour today for my upcoming wedding in 2023. The women who was showing us the venue was extremely unfriendly. There was a lot of awkward quiet moments. She never even sat down with us and asked us things we wanted for our wedding. We were there for about 10 minutes, she handed us a packet and sent us on our way. Basically told us to read it and to email her once we decide what we wanted to do. She didn't even open the packet and show us anything, as if we were inconveniencing her for being there. I thought this was a dream wedding venue but the special events representative ruined that for us. We went to tour the venue and she just stood there. We drove over an hour to come see the venue and she did not offer any additional information other than what I already knew from the packet. When we left, we felt as if we never even went there.... I asked a few questions and she responded with a tone as if I was inconveniencing her and should have known the answers already. We are looking to book a venue in April of 2022 which they had very open availability and you would think she would try to fill up their calendar and sell us on the place considering April isn't very popular for weddings especially for a semi outdoor venue. I attended a wedding here recently. I'm not very familiar with the area as I don't go downriver often. It was kind of hard to find. Of course, I used GPS, but the street is marked differently than what GPS said. It also turned down a street that neighbors the hospital drive. From the road, it doesn't really look like it goes anywhere. After getting a little lost, I finally found it tucked in the back. The Silver Shores is small with an outdoor tent area. The view was nice. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding. Everything seemed to run smoothly. The food was buffet style. It was decent. I'm never WOW'd by wedding food, so it was just as good as what I've had at other weddings. They had Bud Light and Labatt's Blue Light on draft. I am pretty sure that they blew out the Labatt's keg and started serving Bud Light as Labatt's Blue LIght. I had to stop drinking because I noticed the difference and it was a waste of calories! Bad form, Silver Shores! At least tell me that you're out of Labatt's. Not that either beer is good, but I'd like the opportunity to change my mind. read more

We had our wedding at Silver Shores Waterfront and it was PERFECT! Alice and her staff were attentive and took great care of all of our guests. Everyone said that it was one of the best weddings they'd ever been to! The food was excellent! They offered great recommendations of vendors to use for chair covers and tent rental and everyone was so nice and helpful! My wife and I had our wedding in the winter- 1-10-15 Alice and Chef were Excellent - We could not have asked for anything more. The set up for our wedding ceremony, food and tables were great. We tried to create a strolling dinner- It worked out great for us. We had a Beef carving , potato, and Asian station. Everyone raved about it. The Asian station was complete with Chinese take out boxes that was easy to eat while moving around. All the food was exceptional. Because we did not want people driving we had rooms at the Hampton Inn and Suites off I -75 - We rented the vans to pick us up and take us back to hotel. I highly recommend it! Props to Alice - She recommend RedSTar Entertainment for DJ services- They were also great and accommodating. For any one thinking of a winter wedding on the Detroit River- DO IT. But- I believe Summer. Spring, and Fall is great with the outdoor patio. I would 100% recommend using this venue for any event in the future! read more

Our wedding at SS was just last week, the Friday before Christmas. This was the first for both of us so we're not the typical bride and groom. We're both older, in the middle of life, having never been married. The Mass was at St. Patrick's and the reception immediately followed. Many of the guests were from out of town and the convenience of proximity was a major plus. When Alice and I first sat down to talk, she was incredibly honest and very genuine about making sure it would be an absolutely lovely event. Her vast experience in event planning and customer service are superior! When I said I wanted a champagne toast, she said 'no, you don't' . . . lol. She told us that everyone will get their own drink of choice at the bar when they arrive, and raise their glasses during the toasts, so it would be a big waste of money. I asked about a wedding cake. Alice said the majority of the wedding cake ends up in the trash. Guests just don't eat it, and they won't take a piece home with them. She suggested cupcakes or a dessert table. We went with both. Our colors were purple and silver, black and white. A colleague made the cupcakes and arranged them in graduated shades of purple icing. Another colleague made a variety of miniatures. Baklava from Shatila in Dearborn (the absolute best, by far!!) completed the desserts. It looked beautiful! I had gourmet lemon heart cookies at the place settings as a wedding favor. Even though we had a budget, we were able to offer a full bar the entire evening and a 3 entrée buffet with several sides, salad, rolls. The food was beautifully presented, stayed hot, and our guests loved everything! Her staff was very attentive, friendly, and professional. They also went above and beyond throughout the entire evening! So many of our loved ones told us it was the best wedding they had ever attended, from the Mass right on through to the very last dance. The day was everything I could have wanted and more! Everything about Silver Shores exceeds expectations! The ballroom was stunning!! The food was superb!! The service was outstanding!! read more

I would give no stars if possible but ended up giving 1 star only because the view was phenomenal. Let me warn anyone planning to hold an event here, beware. Recently we held an outdoor bridal shower here, unfortunately the day turned out to be much hotter and more humid than anticipated. It was so hot our guests had gotten their rain umbrellas out to shield them from the sun (did I mention no breeze either?) Not one staff member nor a member of management approached us about adding some sort of shade. IN plain site was a fully erected large tent, one would think to offer the opportunity to relocate our seating prior to the event that morning. I would have paid an additional cost to provide our guests some relief from the sun & comfort. So as the shower progressed, so did the temperature, our guests were miserable and there was nothing we could do. That reason alone would prevent me from recommending this venue. When you have a 50 person minimum @ $20 + pp, I would expect better customer service. Bad move on managements part. The most unbelievable occurred at the end of the event. Myself & the brides mother approached the kitchen about taking a food plate home to the dad's. The parents were paying for the event. We were told we could not, by health code. The chef went on to explain because the food had been sitting out (inside an air conditioned bldg.) for 2 hrs. he could not allow it. We are talking fresh fruit & wraps here folks. He still refused to allow it and when asked what will they do with the leftovers, he said they will feed their staff. WHAT? FEED THEIR STAFF?! What about the fact it has been sitting out for 2 hrs and is unsafe, according to you chef. We were appalled at the response. We did not pay to feed your staff ! So, I did what any consumer would do, I made them through it out. If it is unsafe enough for us to eat then it is unsafe enough for your staff as well. Chef -Shame on you and the way you run your kitchen. Management - You may want to take a closer look at your customer service. read more
