Back story...I'm Vietnamese but I have come to LOVE this Czech dish due to my husband's family making it one a year on Thanksgiving instead of the normal line up. I could probably eat this every day...ehh, maybe once a week. And because it's such a niche dish and not commonly available, I will seek it out if it turns up. Such was the case here. I've never heard of Donohue's prior to this nor am I entirely familiar with all the great places in South Omaha. The building was unassuming and a bit darker lit, but you could tell it was a place where "regulars" hang- as evidenced by the waitress asking us if we needed menus (we did). The plate came within 5 minutes of ordering and it took about the same amount of time for me to devour it. The dumplings were delicious and the pork was some of the most tender, flavorful I have ever had. I think the gravy could have use a tad more salt (and I never add extra salt to anything) and I would've like the sauerkraut to be a bit more tart, but I understand that's a personal preference. The price was fair- I think maybe $11.99?, but I wouldn't have minded paying a little more to get a little more. Excited to come back next month when they have this special again!

So you usual items you would find in can form. The food is pretty dang good. Big ole pork tenderloin, fries were great. Lots of condiments to dress up your meal the way you want. The staff is pretty much the owners and they are very genuine and nice people. This reminds me of finding a lil bar out in the middle of nowhere and just being able to sit back, relax, and have some good food. Also, they have books for kids and outdoor area to sit or play, heck even an atari on a TV in the corner for fun.

Maybe don't allow the cat to roam in & out at will? And spruce up the outdoor surroundings a bit.read more

The place has a small town vibe but could easily compete with anything in the Omaha metro. Talked for a bit with the gal that owns it. She was great! So glad to support a women owned business. I had a basic BLT and we shared corn nuggets. Pretty good. Husband had the lunch special, Tater tot casserole. My first thought was "I have the stuff for that in the fridge/freezer at home." Then I remembered that I have indeed not made it. They made it first so we went with that. He loved it! Not your grandma's casserole. We wondered if we'd need a reservation, but it's much more casual than that, so none is necessary. The menu has a few entrees, handhelds, appetizers, and salads. The night we were there, one dessert was available as well. I should have taken a picture of the menu, but it is one page and a bit abbreviated from the one I saw at ZMenu and on Facebook. The bartender was the server for the bar and all the tables, but was able to keep up pretty well. We each ordered a glass of wine and they didn't have that one, so he upgraded us at no additional charge. For dinner, I got the Chicken BLT - it was very tasty, with fresh avocado, tasty bacon, fresh tomatoes (in March in Nebraska!), and tender grilled chicken. My wife got the Rice Bowl and added Salmon, Also, very fresh, tasty, and flavorful. Prices are on the high side, but not unexpected for a nice hotel. The rice bowl with salmon was $24 and my sandwich was $22. The wine selection was good, and they had a decent hard alcohol array as well. Wines were about the retail price of a bottle for each glass, and martinis and drinks were around $16. Service was good. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying here or to stop in for a casual bite to eat.

Maybe would have felt more worth it if a basic protein came with the original price. Our server was quick, polite and took great care of us.
