Beautiful space. Very accessible (except the bathroom). Bright open spaces. Great for events. Meter and garage parking.

Gala presenting a fanfare to the African culture with the backdrop of the building's ecofriendly & urban architectural design. In both areas I crossed paths with some of the Hospitality, A/V & Catering teams who were interactively busy & pleasant. GapBuster is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit & minority-founded educational organization dedicated to empowering the community through education benefiting their students/mentees in aiming to close the educational performance gap. The gala featured Keynote Speaker Kojo Yankah, former Member of the Ghana Parliament & founder of the African University College of Communications. Other special guets included Pat Lawson-Muse of NBC News 4, Congressman Jamie Raskin & Montgomery County Council At-Large Candidate Hoan Dang. The notable guest of the evening in which I had the esteemed honor in meeting, was King Peggy (Nana Amuah-Afenyi VI - born Peggielene Bartels), the first woman King & Reigning Chief of Tantum in Ghana. I didn't venture around the entire space, however on my way out I quickly spanned the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery (former First Lady of MoCo) that supports the arts & humanities. The portico to the plaza is a popular space for concerts, famer's market, festivals, live entertainment...I saw light advertisement for the upcoming seasonal ice skating rink & annual Silver Spring Jazz Festival which is held in front of the building. There's a parking garage across the street on Ellsworth Drive if you can't find street parking. I saw many people parking in the Whole Foods parking lot...not suggesting, just to note. From the Silver Spring Metro Rail Station - Red Line, it's a very casual 15 minute walk.

I'm not sure if the staff is accustomed to handling large crowds because things seemed a bit unorganized. An older lady working at the desk seemed to move in a very slow pace and the line was very backed up. The area where the performance took place was pretty spacious and clean. I believe this community center is a great venue to host an event (birthday party, wedding reception, etc.,) I don't think it's accustom to handling large events but may evolve.

Initially, the female manager was very welcoming and flexible with our group. We never had issues with scheduling the facility or with customer service. Since she was transferred, we have run into a lot of headaches. The staff since then and especially now are extremely rude. They don't greet people as they walk and when they do engage with us they are usually rude and unfriendly. We have had mulriple scheduling conflicts after signing a contract and confirming our league and have been forced to make last minute postponements in our schedule. The faciliry itself is not the best for two side by aide volleyball courts either. The courts run right up to the wall on one side and the bleachers on the other which make it difficult to have enough space to serve. The basketball hoops also do not rise all the way up on both courts and often times interfere with game play. I hope the league finds another more suitable facility with much better customer service for future play.

Stay away from these people. Second time we attempted to hire a woman for cleaning services. First time CLAUDIA came she did a nice job, paying her a nice price that was agreed upon for a home that is always clean and incredibly organized. Second time she came, 2/3's of the house was cleaned, and she brought her shady boyfriend to give some estimate on something we never asked for. He kept harassing us. Third time she came, 50% of the house was cleaned, as she rushed through! We asked her not to come back. Third experience, another cleaning person, OLGA, did the same thing. A nice job on her first visit, then cleaned part of the home the next time; and on her third visit, and prior to my checking, I asked if she completed the basement, etc, she lied about everything. We paid this woman for 50% of the work performed. This could have been a good concept, but these people are ungrateful and feel entitled to all the benefits of this society. They are greedy and use and abuse the kindness of Americans! Stay away!

They want the money, so they will say anything to get paid. You have to pay them no less than $60 for four hours, which I thought was a little high, and anything after that is $15.00 an hour. I went to the CASA office in Rockville, and hire a women by the name of Veronica from the Congo. This women stolen one of my aprons that is part of the uniforms for cleaning that I have the women wear. When approach about the apron, she denied stealing it, but one of the other girls that work for me stop her house, and she was wearing it. My advice to anyone that hire anyone from this organization, hire them at your own risk!!!!
