It's basically a local breakfast and lunch place but they have bigger tables in the back for small groups. The burgers and fries were huge and delicious. Wow...very unassuming place, but don't let the looks fool you! Go for breakfast. I promise they won't disappoint. I ordered the breakfast burrito. Ten minutes later, I got the closest thing to Heaven a Tex- Mex lover could ever find on God's green earth. First of all, the thing could have easily fed a small family for several days. Seriously, the knife they give you is woefully inadequate to make a cut in this beast. It's like trying to cut down a Sequoia tree with a paperclip. But in the absence of food-grade chainsaws, I suppose it was the best they could do. So after marveling at this eighth wonder of the world, I had already decided that there was no way it was going to taste more than average. WRONG! Cook was incredibly rude to my husband, she literally told him "I'm not your server so I can be rude to you, sit down and wait for your server." I can't imagine why she thought it was okay to talk to him the way she did. The food was so mediocre. The biscuits and gravy tasted like grands flaky biscuits and McCormick white gravy packets. On our epic motorcycle ride we stopped in this cafe on Father Day! Omg!! Small, quaint place just like the movies. I got 2 eggs, hash browns, 2 bacon, toast for $8.95. They were very busy but they were friendly and so were the locals at the counter. Talked to a man who was like 93 that is a regular. Such a great time to eat and relax. Just needed a simple coffee on an early road trip. The server "can I help you"! I just need a coffee to go. She looked disgruntled and started to say she didn't have the cups/lids but they were in plain site. She gave me my coffee which was $1.25 and I apologized for just having a card. Solid Food, Grear Color A friend told me that this is the best place for breakfast in Sheridan. He may have meant Wyoming -- in terms of local color. The Silver Spur Cafe is small, dominated by an L-shaped counter with stools for 13. There was one women dining and four behind the counter, including a Michelle at the grill and an Alison who served me. The place was full so I surveyed the décor as I waited. You don't see many religious displays in public in Wyoming but I could see three crosses for my seat. You do see a good number of US flags and patriotic plaques. The Spur does not disappoint. Across from me was a baking sheet filled with the biggest cinnamon buns I've ever seen. Mine was light and fluffy. The two guys next to me warned me not to try to finish. They were right. I ordered the old miner favorite Pork Side, strips of uncured bacon coated with flour. Most of my order slide off the plate as I was being served. (A dog waiting in a pick up got my original order.) I, like the blond woman from Norway next to me, probably would have preferred regular bacon as a replacement. I stupidly asked if they were cash only just as the party next to me signed for their meal on an iPad. I do love Wyoming. read more

Talk about a hole in the wall. Just getting to the parking is an adventure down a back alley but parking in the shade for the dogs in the morning. Get there before 7:15 am because you don't want to miss the cinnamon rolls! Breakfast burrito looked amazing too! This place is a Sheridan staple and everyone has a story of a night out that ends with breakfast at "the spur". There are locals that show up nearly every day and shoot the breeze over their coffee and toast. There's a bar that surrounds the griddle so you can watch your food get cooked. As with most of these kinds of places, don't look too close. That's not an insult. You know what you're getting at a place like this and if that's what you want, there nothing that'll satisfy you quite like it, right down to the occasionally surly waitstaff. The service was accommodating to special requests, and there was just enough time for a good cup of coffee while I waited for takeout.
