People can also park along the street and I noticed there's allot of people coming and going so allot of opportunities for distraction to practice with your dog. It's close to home and offers a lot of activities to do. It has children's playground equipment, 2 basketball courts, 4 BIG, tennis courts, a dirt track, clean bathrooms, picnic area, nice spacious landscape and the most important, it's kept nice and clean. This park is one of my favorite parks in Studio City. They have recreation areas and can let you sign up for sports/classes that interests you. Recently, I had taken few classes with couple of their teachers/coaches and they are WONDERFUL! Earlier this morning I went to play tennis with one of my friends. Tennis is one of my favorite sports to watch and to play. We don't keep score. We just like to play and have fun. You can walk, jug, people walk their dogs, kids, they have picnic areas and do a lot of kids birthday parties.. or you can just simply sit in silence and enjoy nature, the sunlight and have a good, peaceful time. Private lot parking, or street nearby parking. They are closed on Sundays. Kind of weird, but it's their rules, not mine. That's when people usually spend time with their families. I finally had a chance to visit for a Tarzana Music Night last week. What a fun event! Because the weather was being forecasted to be cool with the potential of rain, the event was held indoors. Things were comfortable, but we were in close quarters with the other attendees. The sound was great and the performances were a lot of fun. I was primarily there to see a good friend perform, but I also had the chance to see some other talented musicians. I think each one was a singer songwriter, and I enjoyed each performance. Each one of the people that was working at the venue, which I imagine may have been on a volunteer basis, was friendly and a lot of fun. Normally the music nights are held outdoors, and I can imagine that most of the year, it is a lot of fun being in the open air.

They do have a very small amount of drinks, chips, and cookies for sale at a stand but thats it so if you don't want junk food def bring what you do want. They do have an indoor bathroom. PARKING - Def uber/LYFT to them. There are only a few spots in the back you can get to from the side street (not from Ventura blvd) and thats it! So do yourself a favor and get a ride. Lyft must know about this place because the driver knew exactly where to meet us in the back when we booked our return. For us it was a calm but fun summer evening hang outside! What are you supposed to do with three dogs on a Sunday morning in LA when the weather is nice?…read moreWell, even though I just summed up almost every morning live here, the correct answer is take said dogs somewhere for some exercise and a nice walk. I've never heard of TreePeople and rarely want to venture into Beverly Hills but my wife was pretty stoked on checking this place out so that's exactly what we did. We showed up around 8:00AM and were lucky enough to snag a parking spot in the lot. The lot itself was pretty packed and clearly many other people had the same exact idea that we did. Once all three dogs were ready to go we enjoyed about 45 minutes of walking before the senior dogs needed to return and pass out in the back seat., fun I know. This area is super nice and has a bunch of different places to sit down on benches and get some amazing views of the city I call home. I'm not sure what the group was, but there was a big group of people being followed by a truck so at one point we had to jump on some stairs and get out of the way, not sure what was going on. The part we did was pretty much the entrance up a few small hills and over to a second bench area, but I'm definitely trying to come back here to hike the mountain at some point. Overall, this place was beautiful and definitely somewhere worth checking out if in the city. The trails I saw were clean and the place is clearly taken care of. I'll absolutely be back soon to hike the trails a bit more without my old dogs and I very much look forward to it.

I usually just go for walks around the park here or nearby en route for coffee or an adventure to get out of the house. They have some outdoor standing equipment for exercise like the Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys location between Hazeltine and Van Nuys Blvd off Huston Street. This is a good location for some outdoor sports and activities though some scheduled games might take up this public space. While there are some great shady trees there isn't an abundance of natural grass. A good place to walk your dog, although the fields are mostly astroturf/artifical grass nowadays. Some limited parking in the lot, but usually tons on the street. The recreation aspect is currently not fully functioning to my knowledge at the time, however the YMCA is just within walking distance as well and I think they've done some joint programs together in the past.

Six courts and they are all lighted!! -Courts aren't totally trashed. May find abandoned tennis metal lids, leftover snacks, and a trail of ants near the benches but get cleaned at some point. -Useable filtered water fountain that has come in handy during hot days -I've been safe. There are homeless in daytime but they do gather around and prowl at night. On a random night, I played here close to midnight- 2am and I wasn't bothered. Cons: -Super long wait times to get a court -a lot of homeless. I've never been harmed or too bothered. I've had a few flashes of unclothed people. -The ambiance can be a bit whack depending on the type of people around. You've got normal people just wanting to play tennis, old folks that play here all the time and want to coach you, coaches expecting you to leave the court mid-game so they can do their private lessons (which is not allowed because I called the city and coaches need a permit to hold lessons here! Only 1 coach has a permit and he's at the last court, always). Players who yell, cuss, and play explicit loud music on their speaker... -Real world vibe. I've had a few arguments at these courts too which has caused me to not come as much/ call the city. I normally keep to myself and only come here to practice by myself since it's most convenient.

The bad: it is full of homeless people, and the issue has yet to be addressed. They just sleep anywhere in the park, which I get is common at parks, but this park is just crawling with them. The worst part is they openly do drugs in front of people, and not a single thing is done about it. There's a lot of trash everywhere, and I have seen very sketchy people just hanging out around the area. I have my concerns with safety and usually keep my kiddos incredibly close when I take them here. I think the city needs to do a huge cleanup, and if successful, it can be a huge asset to the community. Nonetheless, the recreation center offers a lot for my kids to do, and we do take advantage of it, like today's Easter egg hunt was a blast!

But due to work, I have only been able to take a few classes throughout the years. But I do love the variety of classes that they offer and how constant their schedule is. If you are looking for a Japanese school for your child to attend, they offer that. If you would like to just learn more about the community through the different cultural classes, just sign up for the emails and you can be alerted for upcoming classes that they offer. I've taken amigurumi (crochet), ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), and a cooking class. All of the instructors are great and mostly volunteers. So it just shows you what a great community there is. They have festivals through the year and also help put on the West Covina Cherry Blossom Festival. They also host the West Covina obon at the center but it is organized by the Buddhist church which is based out of the community center. So there is just a lot of activities that you can get involved with.
