The swing set below one of the large trees
    Marcus L.

I'm always on the look out for shaded playgrounds and this little neighborhood park definitely makes my list. The main attraction for me are the large trees that provide a great amount of shade over the swing set and both large sand play areas! A lot of people bring their own sand toys and shovels and caregivers can be seen sitting along the edge. I sometimes see a variety of kids wanting to share toys so make sure to label yours or it'll be tough to find them later. There's a play structure recommended for 2-5 year olds and a separate one for 5-12 year olds but my toddler likes to hang out on both but gets bored with them quickly. There's also a see saw and one of those rides that looks like a spinning bowl. Why are those things always the temperature of the sun!? I've been here on weekdays when it's pretty empty and others when it's extremely busy. Everyone seems very friendly, though!

This place is our second home. Ample shade. Clean bathrooms. Huge lawn for dogs and sports. My daughter loves the sandbox and chasing other children around on the rubber tar ground. It's very safe - gated and has a very aesthetically pleasing jungle gym. Cute track for those who love exercise. Highly recommend!

Busy but fun with nice tree house themed equipment. Big sand pit and clean bathrooms. In a neighborhood with street parking.

Nice place to let the kids craze. Big playground, outdoor mini gym, grassy fields, swings, tennis courts. Bathrooms leave a lot to be desired...better pee at home.

I love this park! It's a great place for running or pick up sports. The lights stay on until 10 p.m., and there are generally a number of families at the park and couples walking their dogs. This park has playground equipment for the kids, two basketball courts, four tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a dirt track, and newly installed plastic weight-lifting machines....that actually work! Their aren't a TON of varieties of these machines, but the few there are really do work (somehow using your body weight to lift, I think). There is also a kick back wall on the perimeter of one of the basketball courts. The park's not that big, but it's a good location with super easy parking, and somehow it manages to cram a bunch of things into one well-lit area. Anyways, there is a group that gathers on Monday nights for pickup soccer - last week there were about 30 people playing and the organizers just ask that you bring $5 a month to contribute to the cost of the nets.

What is the distance of the track?

3 times around is roughly a mile.

Can we practice with our baseball team at this park? Is there a certain protocol that we need to follow?

Unfortunately, not. We do not issue permits to reserve the basketball court.

Six courts and they are all lighted!! -Courts aren't totally trashed. May find abandoned tennis metal lids, leftover snacks, and a trail of ants near the benches but get cleaned at some point. -Useable filtered water fountain that has come in handy during hot days -I've been safe. There are homeless in daytime but they do gather around and prowl at night. On a random night, I played here close to midnight- 2am and I wasn't bothered. Cons: -Super long wait times to get a court -a lot of homeless. I've never been harmed or too bothered. I've had a few flashes of unclothed people. -The ambiance can be a bit whack depending on the type of people around. You've got normal people just wanting to play tennis, old folks that play here all the time and want to coach you, coaches expecting you to leave the court mid-game so they can do their private lessons (which is not allowed because I called the city and coaches need a permit to hold lessons here! Only 1 coach has a permit and he's at the last court, always). Players who yell, cuss, and play explicit loud music on their speaker... -Real world vibe. I've had a few arguments at these courts too which has caused me to not come as much/ call the city. I normally keep to myself and only come here to practice by myself since it's most convenient.

It's a huge park and even has a new baseball field being built. It had a skatepark and a nice playground for them to enjoy. The bad: it is full of homeless people, and the issue has yet to be addressed. They just sleep anywhere in the park, which I get is common at parks, but this park is just crawling with them. The worst part is they openly do drugs in front of people, and not a single thing is done about it. There's a lot of trash everywhere, and I have seen very sketchy people just hanging out around the area. I have my concerns with safety and usually keep my kiddos incredibly close when I take them here. I think the city needs to do a huge cleanup, and if successful, it can be a huge asset to the community. Nonetheless, the recreation center offers a lot for my kids to do, and we do take advantage of it, like today's Easter egg hunt was a blast!

Playground for all, a pool, baseball field and once a month, they have Food Trucks that stop on Magnolia street. They have a beautiful library that has been there for decades. They also hold community events such as fundraising, feeding the homeless, and helping others. It's always a great feeling to give back and do a good deed. Yesterday, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the church that I go to pretty frequently had a community event right after the service. There were probably over 60 people in the park helping out with giving out free food from their hot/ cold containers.Cold & hot beverages such as sodas, water, hot coffee, clothes, chips, cookies, candies, packaged Mac N Cheese, Ramen and a lot more.. I voluntarily contributed my services to help out at the park and do some fundraising for the church. If you have a brain, heart, soul, hands and feet, let's all get together and help out the community. But as for the park itself, it's one of the best you are going to do in North Hollywood this said of Burbank Blvd. Outside, they have a nice playground area for children, so it's good for families, and their is a nice big, open soccer field. There is also an outdoor basketball court that is fairly well taken care of. The tennis courts are pretty healthy as well, and there are two of them. On the inside, there is a basketball gym. The upkeep of the gym is definitely nice, and there is a stage as well. As for activities, they've got a pretty good list of them. They have soccer tournaments, they have basketball leagues for most age brackets, they have open bboy dancing on the stage on sundays, and they have a community workout that happens I believe on thursday nights around 7ish pm. So at those times, the tennis courts are jam packed with neighborhood moms and whatnot doing their workout routine thing. Of note, this neighborhood is primarily mexican, and as such, there are very few english speakers hanging out. The employees all are bilingual, and a lot of the neighborhood kids from my apartment go here, and most of them are bilingual. I am as well, but I only speak English and Japanese, so when Im playing basketball, tennis, or soccer with the other locals here, it's a bust as far as me knowing what the heck anyone is talking about lol. I know that my team usually just tries to give me the ball lolol. Anyway, overall, I am very happy that I have a nice place to come and shoot hoops and play tennis and soccer, and it's right next to a Starbucks, Target, and a few chicken and burger joints, so it's easy to eat or drink something right before or after as well. I give the Victory and Vineland Recreation Center, a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars
