Growing up, I've always had a gummy smile and lots of gum tissue. I always wanted to have this corrected, as it didn't look good. Over 10+ years ago I tried to have it corrected with a dentist who did a truly terrible job. He hacked into my gums and left even more of a mess to deal with. And he wasn't the first horrible dentist I had. Before him I had somehow managed to always go to truly awful dentists. I honestly hated going to the dentist, and had so much anxiety about it. But I didn't give up. I finally found Silverdale Dentistry and have loved it ever since. From the moment I went there, it had everything from a beautiful office that makes you feel relaxed when you walk in the door, to wonderful staff that are always kind. And the way that Dr. Kratchman helped my botched gums is truly amazing...he should win an award! After the first time he helped me, he did a total correction using a laser, and also added bonding to fill in my teeth. I looked like a whole new person... and he's been helping me ever since. A lot of reviews are saying that Silverdale Dentistry tries to upsell, and yes they do try to sell things, but I've never felt pressured. Dr. Kratchman has always worked with me, and tried to do whatever he could to help me within my budget. Of course he's going to recommend what would be ideal, but when it's not doable he thinks of other options, if they're available. And yes, I will agree with some that the wait times, and trying to get an appointment, is a lot at times. But all in all, I would rather deal with that, than botched work. My first visit was due to a referral from a colleague a few years ago and it was a no brainer to stick with them moving forward for me and my adult daughters. State of the art equipment, super clean offices, really friendly staff, very little waiting when you arrive for a scheduled appointment. The hygienist was incredible, she explained everything so well, she was very patient, and I was never uncomfortable. Probably the best hygienist experience I have ever had. I was there for well over 2 hours, had to wait for over an hour just to see the dentist (Dr.Kratchman?) who was hurried and told me my teeth needed Invisalign even though I already went through braces, told him I have my own orthodontist. He said, "Oh...you're happy with how they look?" I was insulted. He insinuated my medical history was not accurate and I was making up my genetic disease to get out of Novocain injections. I've never had any cavities before and he said I had fillings that needed to be touched up. What fillings? I've never had anything done except wisdom teeth removed. He's all about money - cares nothing for the patient. The only reason I will be returning is because I loved my hygienist but will be going with the other dentist. read more

Overall a very good dentistry. I'm going there over 10 years. The reason why I'm giving them a bad review right now is because we have received a letter in the mail due to the coronavirus they are charging a $10 PPE equipment fee for every person that walks in. I think is this is absolutely horrible and shameful and out right "BS" to expect people to come up with extra money for something they already have Been using in the Dentist office already. This is just another way to make up their money that they lost during the pandemic. People in the community already lost a lot of money During the pandemic. Businesses have closed and people may never go back to their jobs. What a crappy way to do business. Do the right thing and waive that fee. read more

Going to the dentist can sometimes feel like going to an auto repair shop because you can feel like you are getting ripped off. Luckily going to Silverdale does not leave you with this feeling. The two previous dentists I've seen in the area were complete opposites. One provided great service at a high price and the other provided disgusting service for basically free. At Silverdale the front staff is cordial and professional. The initial evaluation is top notch and extremely comprehensive. The technology they use makes you feel as though you are on the USS Enterprise. In addition there are flat screen televisions to watch while you get worked on. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Anthony Bourdain on TLC while getting my gums scraped. Dr. Kratchman explained the evaluation well and was able to answer my questions with patience. My wife had a similar experience with Silverdale. We will definitely be going back. This type of service, completely covered by our dental insurance, seems too good to be true. On another note. My wife is convinced Dr. Kratchman looks just like Patrick Dempsy (aka: Dr. McDreamy") from Grey's Anatomy. I have no comment on this subject. read more

I am sad to see so many negative reviews for Silverdale Dentistry. Dr. Kratchman is a man on the move and he does jump from room to room. However he is the only dentist I have had in 30 years who fixed all my fillings, recently did a bridge and put on several crowns to perfection. When the one crown came in from the lab flawed he sent it back. This was for a front tooth and he demanded perfection. I think he is an artist when it come to fixing previous dental mistakes by un skilled dentists. I had a problem with my crown, he came in on his day off in his t-shirt and shorts to fix my tooth. I agree he is fast, so am I, I like a very intelligent dentist to be direct and explain things to me quick and to the point. He has always answered all my questions and has humor when you tell him he's like roadrunner. I have been going there since it opened and know he has had to work very hard to help as many patients as possible. Some may say it's for the money, money to pay his staff and keep the business running. He tries his best with people with insurance issues and tries to save you money when he could just tell you the hard fact of cost of most procedures. Many of my friends go there, one who is very picky wouldn't see anyone but Adam. He has fixed his whole mouth to perfection. My hygienist, Tammy is the best I every had!!! She saved my teeth from falling out from poor hygiene. I went from awful to healthy in several months under her care and holding me accountable for using a water pick and electric toothbrush. She is tender hearted and loves her job and her patients. Tammy is no softy, she tells you straight up , get to it!! All my friends only see her. So if you have no insurance and need expensive work go somewhere else. Dental care is very expensive. Adam tries hard to be professional and direct. The staff here seem to be used cars salesmen at heart. Every time I go for a cleaning, they are trying to sell me things. The most recent visit tallied up to 4 things they were attempting to sell me. What's weird is I can't imagine they're getting commission for the things they were trying to sell me. What's also weird is my teeth are in good shape and they compliment me every time on my cleaning practices, so I'm not sure why they feel I need all these high end cleaning gadgets. Overall, the physical ambiance of the office is very nice, the dental hygienists seem to do their jobs, but I can't get over all of the sales pitches. I really just want to come in, get my teeth cleaned, and leave! read more

Avoid this dentist if at all possible. I made the mistake of going to Mr. Kratchman before my dental insurance ran out and he informed me that I needed two crowns. He "prepared" the teeth for the crowns and also talked to me about Vivera retainers. I called 3 times after I had the temporary crowns put on because I had tooth sensitivity in my upper left molar. Rather than perform a root canal on the tooth that I complained about, he gave me Sensodyne toothpaste. When it was time to get the permanent crown on, I left work to go to the dentist only to wait an hour and a half only to be told that he forgot about our appointment. It's funny because this office charges if you forget your appointment... He never even apologized for this at my next appointment. Finally, when I got the permanent crowns put on, one of the crowns (upper left molar) was CLEARLY too big for the tooth in terms of length. Instead of sending the crown back to the lab and getting the size corrected, the dentist insisted on forcing the crown onto the tooth so much so that it chipped some of the prepared tooth. I did not know this at the time but found out recently when I had to have this tooth redone! I complained about the crown being too long and too large for that area of my mouth and that it didn't feel right and his remedy was to grind down A LARGE portion of a perfectly good molar on the lower left portion of my mouth. My bite was still off which resulted in him grinding down some of the crown (CLEAR SIGN THAT THE CROWN IS TOO BIG). After this was all said and done I mentioned that I didn't want to proceed with the Vivera retainers because I feel like the crown doesn't fit properly and this guy convinced me that i would just need to get used to the way the crown feels in my mouth and that I should get these retainers since I had braces before. I went back and forth on this several times with this dentist (salesman) before just giving in to getting the retainers. Fast forward about 8 months.. I had pain so bad in this upper molar that I had to take off work, contact another dentist in the area that referred me to an Endodontist, and get a root canal. Before the root canal, the new dentist did an x-ray and showed me where the crown did not properly fit over the prepared tooth. I had the tooth re-prepared and the crown redone after the root canal and my bite is back to normal as well as no pain. Cost me $2300 total to fix what Mr. Kratchman did. The best part about all of this? My Vivera retainers no longer fit because my bite is back to normal! $1000 down the drain, thanks Doc! All this "dentist" cares about is money, money, money. Two. Friendly, polite front desk staff; friendly, capable, knowledgeable hygienists and dentists! They run on-time (have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes), have TVs to watch in the dental chair, and have the latest dental technology too. First dentist we've actually liked and don't have nightmares about upcoming appointments! And as a response to KurtS's one-star post . . . 1) he DID allow me in the room with my son, first AND subsequent visits! 2) I NEVER feel like I'm in a production line -- they always take plenty of time with me, especially showing me the xrays/pictures of my teeth and explaining everything! 3) I always set up my appointments when I leave, so I don't have to worry about trying to find a last minute appointment. If I could give less than one star I would... My wife visited the office to have some filling work completed. They didn't review the pricing ahead of the visit and gave her some costs while she was already in the chair. She agreed as she felt rushed (already in the chair and ready to go). So after the work she was SHOCKED when she was hit with a bill of near $800. What is the reason for feeling ripped off is that Silverdale is a recommended provider from our insurer. Unfortunately they don't offer silver / amlagan fillings for molars so my wife didn't know any better and agreed to the service.... and again didn't know what the full cost would be till afterwards. This is a bait and switch because there are arguments over one filling type versus the other (though the ADA doesn't have a preference) and it would seem that not offering the less expensive silver fillings is advantageous to the practice so they can collect much more on the composite type!!! My insurer suggested to negotiate pricing to match what the co-pay would have been had we had the composite filings in our plan. I thought that could be a fair reconciliation. It took two weeks and the administrator was not happy to even have the discussion. She was very much annoyed that I actually asked if there was a means of relief. The doctor veto'd any consideration on our part. I suppose the field of dentistry is much like buying a car now that you can apply for a loan at the time of service. I never realized I would need to interview a dentist now to understand how they operate and what services they may or may not offer and what the costs would be. Its really like automotive service where you see rates posted behind the service counter. Boooo on you doctor Kratchman for taking advantage of unknowing customer!!! read more

This is the best dentist office I've gone to so far. My dentist is Dr. Brad Guenthner and I still have quite a bit of work to be done and it's strange how I feel so relaxed when they do their work. They tell you what to expect ahead of time during their work and they have a TV at each room so you're not preoccupied with what they're doing. It is not the work of Dr. Kratchman that gets the 1 star, here you have a talented dentist that does not get it. People do not want to be treated like they are on a production line being assembled. He tries to run his practice so efficiently that it shows. You call to get an appointment and you are told 1 month for a cleaning. The week of your cleaning you get 3 to 5 calls from his staff trying to get you in earlier because someone canceled, to the point where you feel harassed by the calls. Parents are not allowed to be in the room with their children during their first visit or first filling. Be sure that you get your co-payment for any significant treatment up front, we left this dentist due to them not providing an estimate for a white filling before the treatment was done. I see that he finally added another dentist maybe he can slow down long enough to remember his patients faces instead of only focusing on the all mighty dollar. He is not a bad guy, just not aware of how the way he runs his business effects people. Side note - for those of you that like private treatment rooms, you will not like the set up here. read more

My experience at Silverdale has been very good. Since moving out here I've been 3 different dentists and I'm going to stick with Silverdale Dentistry. The office is clean, modern and equipped with up-to-date dentistry technology. The bedside manner of Dr. Kratchman is good. There were no surprise fees or bills. I've had my dentist appointments either delayed, or they will try to fit you (after making your appointment already) into a new open spot to fill their schedule. The women in the front are so obvious about getting their money, and they are not very human. The quality of the large amount of work was disappointing....cap color WAY off and stick out like a sore thumb. One issue that I thought was a priority and had limited time to attend to before having to have it pulled was virtually ignored for 1/2 a year, (and I was there 5 times). blah....One more reason to hate the dentist and put off going!!! read more

I had my first visit here and everyone was amazing. From the front desk to the hygienists and dentist, everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. I hadn't been to a dentist in years, I was having an issue and I was so nervous! Danielle was very sweet and calming. She constantly made sure I was comfortable and was very quick with taking my x-rays. She validated my nervousness and made me feel so much better. Justine was also very sweet and knowledge. I barely felt anything when she was cleaning my teeth and doing my periodontal exam. She also gave me some advice on how to up my oral hygiene game. I briefly met with the dentist and he went over my x-rays and the pictures of my teeth. He answered all my questions and made sure I knew what the game plan was. The woman at the front desk (Gina?) was very friendly and explained payment options for future orthodontic work. I have lupus and a medically fragile child which unfortunately causes me to frequently need to reschedule apps. Recently I scheduled an appointment for my teenage son ( as my entire family of five goes, or went here) and unfortunately my sister in law passed away. I canceled the appt. I received a letter stating they were dropping me as a patient. I was upset, but as I said having lupus and my medically fragile child it's not the first I've encountered this. My husband called them to schedule an apt today to find out that he was dropped as well. He has never ever missed an apt! Blows my mind that discrimination is still alive and well in the healthcare community and why my entire family? I always called, I'm a nurse, I know better....ok may not have once because of a medical emergency. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. They are also way overpriced! And their work doesn't stand the test of time! read more
