I found this office through word-of-mouth on social media--tons of great reviews and personal recommendations. Scheduled my initial appointment on their website, which I thought was incredibly convenient. I was also able to complete ALL of my initial paperwork online so I didn't have to do any when I came in for my first visit. So, initial impressions on appointment day (today). This location is fantastic--super central being in The Trails. I parked at 8:45am and there was still plenty of parking, although the parking spaces in The Trails can be a little challenging if you drive a large vehicle like I do. Once in the clinic, the guy at the front desk was super friendly and got me checked in quickly. Sat down and waited maybe 10 or 15 minutes before being called back. The waiting room was very clean, as was every hallway/room I saw and went into for the duration of my visit. I will say--the atmosphere is a bit sterile. It's kind of cold in there with natural daylight cool lighting. I do wish they would warm it up a bit. Everyone I came across was very nice, including Dr. Chen, who I scheduled my appointment with. She was so nice answering all of my questions, checking in frequently to be sure I was comfortable, and that I understood everything she was doing in my mouth during the appointment. I felt like I came out knowing more about my teeth and how to better care for them than I have when visiting other dentists, which I love. After my appointment was over, a care coordinator, Jen, came in to book some future appointments and go over expected charges for the dental care I needed. She did a very thorough job explaining all charges, what insurance would cover and what they wouldn't, and ensured I clearly understood all of the financial details. I was thoroughly impressed that Dr. Chen was actually able to knock out half of the work I needed as soon as Jen was done explaining everything. She was very quick and thorough, and I found the charges to be very fair and clear. I was charged exactly what they said they'd charge, and they did not charge until I fully understood what I was paying for. Emphasizing that again because other reviews have complained about a lack of bill transparency. I didn't experience that at all. By the time I left, about two hours after I arrived, the parking lot was packed and I was so thankful I didn't have a later appointment. Overall, I am VERY happy with this clinic. Everyone was kind, charges were fair and clear, and Dr. Chen was awesome. I have to go back for a second session of work in one week and I'm actually excited. I've always had positive experiences with Silverdale Dentistry in the past, which makes today's visit especially disappointing. I was asked to arrive at 1:45 PM for a 2:00 PM appointment, but I wasn't called in until after 2:20 PM. When I approached the receptionist to ask about the delay, I was told, "It is not in my control"--a response that felt dismissive rather than empathetic. What made the situation worse was the doctor's reaction when it was clear I was frustrated. Instead of acknowledging the issue, I was told, "If you would like to go someplace else..." I found that to be both unprofessional and off-putting. Everyone has off days, but a little courtesy and communication would have gone a long way read more

none of their phones are local, only long distance. Their e-mail contact link doesn't work. I am trying to cancel a cleaning appointment in October. So far no contact, my house phone says I need a long distance calling code, and their e-mail won't work. The exam room is less than clean, actually a bit dirty They charged me about $80 to tell me how to brush my teeth, and use a waterpick... The assistant asked if I would like a fluoride treatment. When I asked how much it was, she said it was free. It wasn't free. It cost a bunch. They pad their bill, and fib about what their charges are. It looks like they are barely hanging on. They have zero dental assistants for cleaning. The so-called dentist did my cleaning. read more

I went in first for a check up to get my wisdom teeth out on left side and they charged me for wisdom teeth I got taken out almost three years ago on my right side. There's a lady there who will ALWAYS tell you the wrong information. How are you going to work in financials and your numbers on your computer not match up with the bills your company sends out, or on the mychart. Everytime I go in there she gives me a different number. She will swear she fixes it but she never does. I've received almost 7 different numbers from her and the amounts I owe NEVER MATCH. I chose this office to go to for a root canal strictly due to them being in contract with my insurance. From the moment I went in, there was a lack of professionalism by the office staff the entire process. Every time I went in, I would receive different information from the cost to how many days it would take. I was originally told it would be a consultation and then a one day procedure, only to find out later it would be 3 separate days that I would need to go in and they would have to numb me each time. After the fact, I found out that the endodontist, Dr. Chinchilla, only comes to that office a few times per month and thus they, for whatever reason, couldn't schedule me on the same day with their dentist to put the cap on the root canal. Dr. Chinchilla did my root canal and although I thought he did a fine job, the professionalism could have been a lot better. He was frequently interrupted during my visits and would step out in the middle of our conversation or my procedure. In addition, the dental assistant didn't write down my health history even though I had written it up for them via their online portal. Thus Dr. Chinchilla prescribed me something I was allergic too. After the operation (on the second day of the operation that is), I left their office with no post opt paperwork in hand. They gave me nothing and the secretary at the front demanded payment in full. I told her that the office manager, Carrie had spoken with me the day before and said to wait until the entire process was over since I would be in the next day and would gladly pay in full. I also told her the number she was quoting me was wrong and that was not the right number that I was told by the manager. I paid the pushy office lady and the next day spoke with the manager, Carrie Kimball. I explained my frustration for the lack of communication between the staff and lack of professionalism all around. Although she initially apologized, giving me a very small discount on the dental office part, she said she would have to contact Dr. Chinchilla to refund me a small discount on their end since he is contracted and I had already paid it even though her office staff was the one who demanded payment early. She told me that she was sorry for all the mistakes their office made and would make it right. However, it's been 4 weeks and Carrie Kimball has never followed up with a phone call to me! I have since called their office four different times and Carrie always says the right words but no action has been followed. She says she will track the doctor down and make this all right, but nothing has been done! I paid more then I was quoted and they allowed it and never made it right. Their office was also supposed to send my records over to my regular dentist after the root canal was completed, but that has also not been done. I don't normally have anxiety going to a dentist, but from the start I could see and feel the lack of professionalism and genuine care. I should have followed my gut and gone somewhere that my insurance didn't cover. I have never had a bad experience at a dentist in my life and this, unfortunately, was the first. I would never recommend them to anyone and strongly warn you that there are so many better offices out there and don't do Silverdale Smiles as they won't be true to their word! read more

They don't take the time to listen or review your history. A very unprofessional and inept support staff - don't return calls when they say, give misinformation. 2 visits to this dentistry - zero satisfaction - no resolution of my problem. They survive off of payment plans, not good dentistry or business ethic. I am so glad I walked away from this practice - if their dentists are as inept as their front line staff I'm surprised they're still licensed. I have always had a great relationship with my dentists wherever I lived. I had hoped to find a long term dentist in my new home. What I encountered was screw up after screw up. I wouldn't even consider them for a simple teeth cleaning. In fairness, the receptionists were very pleasant, I got beyond them I was in the Twilight Zone of gross incompetence. read more

Very unprofessional support staff!!!! Got there at Silverdale Smiles Dentistry half hour before the appointment just to find out that it was canceled. I was so disappointed, frustrated and very upset that they said they called (which they did), but LEFT NO MESSAGES and lied in front of my face. I have my e-mail address, text messages were also available, in which, someone even texted that they look forward seeing me on 5/11 at 2:45 pm but did not bother TO TEXT THAT MY APPOINTMENT WAS CANCELED!!! Last year I had a serious cavity in one of my molars that was causing me great levels of discomfort. It needed a root canal and I had no way of paying for it. I didn't have insurance nor did I qualify for any form of care credit. They worked very hard with me and we settled on in-house financing with a down payment towards the procedure. It all went very smoothly. I believe they told me they actually had the areas best root canal expert on staff that day who oversaw the procedure. Was done in about two hours with minimal pain. In house financing saved my butt and allowed me the full use of my teeth again and I'm very grateful for it. The problems only arised once they outsourced their labor to a third party call center somewhere in the world. If a payment was unable to go through due to insufficient funds, I had to call the center and ask for them to re-attempt payment. Only they couldn't. The call center had to put me on hold, after being on hold, after worming my way through awful machine phone calls where you press numbers to be directed to the correct department. Only to be told that their "billing department" was unavailable at the time and they would call me back later. They never did. This has happened multiple times since they switched to outsourcing their call centers. It used to be you would talk to the receptionist at the actual clinic, and make your payment. Done inside of two minutes. Those days are gone. It's a shame that such a great dentistry has allowed themselves to be marred by the ineptitude of a terrible call center who is incapable of simple emails. Would've been a five star review had it not been for the constant runaround with their call center. read more

Absolutely phenomenal first visit! I had my teeth whitened for the very first time. The entire staff was super polite, the office was immaculate and modern, and the Dr. Simpson came and talked to me about another issue, advising me 'on the cuff' after a brief exam prior to my whitening procedure. I have a consult scheduled with their dental surgeon, Dr. Doyle, and if his skills match the rest of the people, and the place, I will be jubilant !!! Phenomenal experience from start to finish! High quality care and understanding. Clear and concise explanations, great overviews and communicated in depth when requested. Being asked again and again if I had any questions or needed clarification was so stress relieving. When I did finally have questions, I felt comfortable in voicing my concerns. I had never had dental anxiety in my life until I came here. What was supposed to be a routine cleaning with a complaint of some very minor sensitivity turned into 8 hours of hell, spread out over 3 appointments. I'm not even convinced the procedure that they initially did was necessary. It seems to be at least $800 out of pocket every time I walk in there, and I don't have bad insurance. After all of that, the pain in the tooth in question is worse than ever and I can't really chew on the side of my mouth anymore. After the initial appointment where Dr. Kamran drilled a hole in my gum which wouldn't stop bleeding and then panicked after I'd been there for several hours and did a sloppy filling that made it feel like I had a rock lodged where my tooth should've been, I called to let the office know I was in pain and upset and really anxious to return to get it fixed. I asked for a new doctor and also to speak to the office manager. The office manager blew me off and never called me. The woman in the office who assured me she would call me back before 2 pm with an appointment time to get it fixed by another dentist never called me back and I had to call and get the info from someone else. Dr. Ahn worked on me the second time and she was very kind and patient and I really appreciate that. She was just fixing Dr. Kamrans mess. Unfortunately, the damage has been done and I will never be stepping foot in this place again. After the second appointment when I was in so much pain I felt I was going to pass out, I worried they messed up worse than I thought and I went to a different dentist to check on it. She told me that they had drilled so close to the bone that it could cause chronic pain in that area. She said it may have been necessary, unknown because she didn't have my x rays from before, but she said they should have at least warned me about it prior to starting the work. There was temp cement stuck between my teeth which was further irritating my gums which looked like ground beef at that point and she had to scrape it off for me. She gave me some antiseptic mouthwash and a hug and her office called a few days later to check on me. The care and concern I got from that dentist who squeezed me in at the end of a busy day because of how upset and anxious i was, proved how little Silverdale Smiles cares about their patients. They haven't called to check on how I am. They didn't offer me any kind of anxiety relief despite me actively panicking and shaking in the chair before the second appointment. It was truly the worst experience I've ever had at a dentist and unfortunately it's going to make dental appointments difficult in the future, but I guess it's fine since the doctor gave me a $25 gift card to home goods as an apology? Bizarre. I'd prefer to be able to eat without pain. In short, go find another dentist because this one is not it. read more

Consistently poor service from Silverdale Smiles! Excessively long wait times for appointments, limited time with dentists, and office being closed when you have a scheduled appointment. I entered four complaints about being closed and they could not make an effort to contact me regarding this. After coordinating my schedule around this appointment, I arrived on a Thursday at 6PM and the office is closed. I am terribly disappointed but not surprised. I called their after hours line to find an explanation and the CSR told me that the notes said they called me on a certain date. After looking through the history on my phone and online there were never any phone calls from them. Boldface lie. Their service has been going down hill since before covid, after Dr. Jason Ma left, and continues to get worse with every appointment. They continually promise that it is going to get better with the addition of new doctors. When is that going to happen? When are wait times for appointments going to be more reasonable? When are they going to respond to one of the complaints I addressed to them? Can I recommend SSD? Yes, I recommend you stay away if you want satisfying service in a timely manner. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINES WITH THIS DENTISTRY! When my wife and I first tried this office we were very impressed. They were all smiles. We were all smiles since we were getting a cleaning, exam and x-rays for a very low price. I soon received a account notice after paying the initial $59.00 for another $98.00 and figured it was to good to be true! I did continue to go back for cleanings and during several visits noted that they found several different things wrong, never the same thing. I was told I would need a new crown, soon, the next visit was something else and no mention of the crown, the next visit the dentist remarked that the crown was in great shape and I had no problems and they did a cleaning. I then got an Account Notice for $98.00. and called to see why since I had dental insurance. I was advised that the insurance did not cover all of the costs so I should be receiving a check for $98.00 and to sign it over to Smiles and that would take care of it. They then changed to it would actually be a check for $150.00 and to sign it over to them. Whoops, WHY? if the bill is $98.00 should I send them a check for $150.00? I called my dental insurance co and learned that Silverdale Smiles Dentistry had billed them for $519.00, and that included the cleaning, the photographs, and $78.00 for advice on dental hygiene. What advice? They indicated they would send the check to me and I could give it to the dentists office. The $59.00 first time visit was if you DID NOT have insurance. When I called the Dental Office back again. The lady I spoke with would not stop talking, she was going to tell me the way it was and I did not get to ask questions she would not even be interrupted. Needless to say I will never go back to this business. They are rude, insolent and far from being professional. Granted there are problems with medical billing and insurance but this is ridiculous. Do not try their phone number to answer billing questions, it has been disconnected. I only gave one star as a rating since there is nothing lower. read more

The staff here was so helpful and friendly, I bought my daughter with me and they were very sweet to her and tried to hell call her down. They were very upfront about what the pricing would be for my current visit and for my next one and helped me set up a payment plan so I wouldn't have to pay it all at once. I came to this dentist office because of an emergency earlier this month. (One of my back molars had split in half due to an old filling) I called them early in the morning the next day and they squeezed me in the same day and also extracted the tooth, all in a matter of hours! I have high anxiety with the dentist, I haven't been to a dental office in about 3 years. Dr. Melburg and his team have been amazing through out this whole process so far. They also have an option for payment plans, which is something I never had the option of before even with having insurance! Joel handles the finances up and scheduling up front, and always helps me out to make sure I can pay my balance off each month. I've never felt so welcome. You can tell everyone loves their job right when you walk in. After all of my past terrible experiences from other offices, I'm extremely pleased to have switched over to Silverdale smiles. read more

I waited for 2 hours before having my dental work done, I heard the doctor arguing with the patient in the room over from me, no numbing medicine for a filling, and I left wet from the water spraying on me the whole time, the office manager came to do the checkout process with me and told me I needed to schedule a routine exam to which I responded I will once I know my school schedule, and he responded snarky telling me, " We don't want to see you again when it's an emergency so you need to get an exam" Let me add, I don't have insurance and no patient deserves to be talked to that way. I will not be back. Severely disappointed considering the first dentist I saw here was amazing. Save your money and go somewhere where you won't leave feeling terrible about your lack of insurance and be talked down to like you're 5 years old. Dr. Hsu lost a "cord" that she'd put in while applying a filling to my front tooth. She couldn't get it out. She wound up digging at my gum line for a half hour. Finally, she drilled away part of the filling she'd just put in! I was in the chair for almost an hour. Now, I have a dent in my front tooth and have to go to another dentist to get it fixed. Also, she explained NOTHING about the procedure or the problem until I said, "What the hell is goign on?" I would steer clear. read more

I had been having a problem with a back tooth and to my surprise Dr Pock stated she didn't See anything wrong that the filling was good and I was so pleased . Unfortunately I have to disregard my last review on here... I have had appointments canceled twice now. My last appointment was to do one more filling and then re do a filling the Dr previously did before I move out of state and then I get a call the day of canceling. Now I'm having to pay for the dental work again at a new office because it is causing a lot of discomfort and I can't floss in between the filling that was supposed to be re done. I have called the office 3 times now regarding a refund for the work not being done and it's been almost two weeks and nothing.. every time I call they just keep saying they'll leave a note for the billing department. I went to this office because they took a reduced procedure prices. Almost every procedure they told me that I should have - for some reason or another there was a reason they wouldn't take it. I had called to make sure they took the discounted procedure and took a list of procedures. When I decided not to have anything Don there because it cost more than a regular dentist- I told them that I wouldn't return to their office I would get emails telling me it had been a long time and needed to come in. I got a few of them even though I told them not to send anymore. Then I got mail. I have told them three times now not to ever send me anymore! Requested a first appointment for a cleaning and the office was clean and efficient, the staff friendly. I had the usual x rays as well as some of the new technological screenings and then onto the chair for the cleaning... after 45 minutes of waiting I was finally seen by the dentist and told I would need extensive deep cleaning that would require three appointments and that my insurance would not fully cover the cost of the deep cleaning. I was then told that I could wait for another 45 minutes to an hour for a cleaning on part of my mouth (had already been there for 2 hours). I left with appointments in the future with a great amount of distrust. I sought a second opinion with a previous dentist and was assured that my teeth and gums were in great shape and I did not need extensive dental work. I then received and explanation of benefits and found that 5 screening procedures they conducted were not covered by my insurance and I am going to have to pay $800+. I find it ironic that they could check my insurance for what they wanted to do but not what they did do. This practice is a dental factory and I will not go back and several friend who recommended the practice have also cancelled appointments as a result of my experience. And fyi, as a career I was a COO of a dental and medical group. This is not how dentistry is done. read more

Very short wait time and very thorough explanation of costs! Everyone made me feel very comfortable with the entire process.

I came here thinking I needed a filling for a cavity, since that's what my prior dentist told me in October 2017. I only sought out another dentist because the filling was more expensive than what I was expecting and I wanted to price compare. When I came to Silverdale Smiles I had several x-rays completed and a thorough exam by Dr. Pock. Fortunately, I was told that I actually do not need a filling. The tooth can just be watched to see if it progresses, but a filling isn't needed right away. I was able to view my own x-rays to see exactly what the dentist was referring to. Additionally, my x-rays at my last dentist and at Silverdale Smiles were both digital x-rays so I know they are the same level of quality. This made me realize that some dentists are definitely more aggressive than others and I really like that the dentist here is not too aggressive and will do what's best and what's right for me. read more

At first I loved this dentist, the office is new and everyone was very nice.....until I had to get something done here and was very traumatized. I had to have a retreat of a root canal done, so they had their endodontist, Dr. Tran come in. First of all, I have high anxiety at the dentist so of course I purchased the laughing gas. Dr. Tran kept questioning why I needed the gas and half way through took the gas off and said I didn't need it. They then proceeded to try and charge me full price for it. Anyways during the procedure at a certain point I felt that I was becoming not numb and I could feel sharp shooting pains that almost made me feel like I was going to pass out. Dr. Tran was not nice or sympathetic that I was in pain and I basically had to beg him to numb me more. He was condescending and rude. After we got that done I was told that they would call to check up on me, no one called...They also tried to over charge me every time I went in. I get that you are a new business, but get it together before you traumatized more people who are already afraid of the dentist. I have since changed dentists. read more

A wonderful place! I am terrified of the dentist and have been from a terrible experience a few years ago. Not here!!!! The staff is so friendly and make you feel at ease. I was able to get squeezed in the same day my filling fell out. Within an hour Jessica, who is AMAZING, did a root canal, build and crown. She stopped frequently to check on me and see how I was doing. Made sure I was totally pain free and made me feel comfortable. I woke up this morning with no pain and am amazed.
