While he will execute your vision, he would also provide his own insight to help us think through any considerations as to why or why we shouldn't do something. Whether it was just not worth the cost, add value to our home/lifestyle or a find potential alternative/balance. The statement of work he provides is fully laid out and he explains line by line to ensure we're on the same page. Payments were scheduled for specific milestones. This was our first major remodel endeavor, so quite an exciting and scary process considering the potential investment and living adjustment during the process. We initially reached out to Solomon regarding adding square footage to our home. A 4' bump forward, adding an additional bedroom, and bumping the back of our house for a new kitchen. He was very clear up front of the overall process, timeline and expectations to ensure we knew the order of sequence of how the project would roll out. He spent a good 6 months with us during the planning and design phase, from engineering, blueprinting and permitting. We also visited some of his previous customers and talked to his customers and they all shared the same sentiment of his approach and quality of work. While we did not end up moving forward with the remodel, as we decided to purchase a new home, we did however need to get our home rent ready. This included a new roof, new gutters, stucco, paint exterior, retaining planter wall, new porch and backyard deck. Without question we stuck with Solomon and he was more than happy to work with us, while a smaller scope of work it was still quite a lot of moving parts. What made this project especially important to us was that we managed the entire job remotely from our home in Northern California. Danny made that process remarkably easy. He communicated consistently, answered every question thoroughly, sent frequent photos and videos, and kept us informed throughout the preparation and installation. We never felt out of the loop. The quality of the work was outstanding. Their team removed the existing decomposed granite, properly prepared and graded the area, installed and compacted a base, added the weed barrier, carefully laid and trimmed the turf around curved borders and existing stepping stones, secured the edges and seams, applied the upgraded zeolite infill, and power-broomed the finished surface. They clearly cared about the details--not just whether it looks good on installation day. Danny also stood out during the bidding process. We received several quotes, and he was transparent about the exact turf product, specifications, backing, base preparation, and infill options. He did not simply recommend the most expensive upgrade. Instead, he explained what he believed was the best balance of durability, appearance, and long-term value for a family rental property. That honesty gave us a great deal of confidence. After being treated badly by two previous contractors and wasting a significant amount of money on…read morework that added little value to our properties, we knew we couldn't afford another mistake. Ironically, both of those contractors had been recommended by people we knew. That experience taught us an important lesson: we needed to do our own research and find someone we could truly trust. Danny was actually my favorite candidate from the beginning when I started collecting bids in late 2023. His quote wasn't the cheapest, and at first I questioned the price. Later, Danny explained something he called the "salami tactic." Some contractors intentionally submit low bids by leaving out critical work that inexperienced homeowners don't know to ask for. Those missing items eventually become expensive change orders, and the surprises never seem to end. We experienced exactly that. One previous contractor knew our electrical system couldn't support the appliances we planned to install, yet he simply said, "Anything you want." The project looked good on the surface, but it wasn't done properly. We eventually had to open finished walls again just to upgrade the electrical system. What I appreciate most about Danny is his honesty. He never told us what we wanted to hear just to win the job. He explained what actually needed to be done, why it mattered, and what could happen if shortcuts were taken. Sometimes those conversations weren't easy, but looking back, he was protecting our investment, not trying to increase the bill. Throughout the project, Danny communicated clearly, answered every question patiently, and treated our renovation as if it were his own. When unexpected issues came up--as they often do in a 100-year-old building--he didn't disappear or make excuses. He solved them. Even after the project was substantially completed, he came back to address the remaining punch-list items. That level of responsibility is rare.
