In the little town of Kingston, a little gem is found, which is a sushi restaurant. The place is just ordinary looking. It is not a fancy place at all. We arrived for lunch, therefore we chose food from the lunch specials. I got the Sima Lunch set. I received a delicious green salad, then wonderful warm miso soup, and finally my sushi set, which includes sorted sashimi, California rolls, sorted fish pieces and sweet potatoes tempura. Every single item were super delicious and delightful. The service was super efficient. Excellent place to sit down and good decent sushi. read more

Really tasty sushi location, very authentic. The seating is quite limited so the wait time can be quite substantial but it is a lovely atmosphere for an intimidate dinner. This is a popular take out spot for students and for dine in as well, so if you want somewhere that is a bit student-free this would not be a great option for you. The rolls are incredibly high quality and large. It is on the pricier end. I find that better value for your money would be Sushiya-zen but that restaurant does not have the same dine in experience. read more

My BF had a serious craving for sushi at 11:45am while we were strolling along Princess Street so we ended up trying Sima Sushi. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, the chefs greeted us with a quick hello. I like that ;) The waitress was super sweet about us taking our time to order (I was having an issue that morning for a minute wrapping my head around eating raw fish that early in the day lol). We ended up ordering one of the lunch specials and a special roll. We were brought two miso soups and one garden salad. I liked their dressing, which had a stronger red pepper taste than other Japanese salad dressings I have had. Enjoyed the few bites I had of the items we ordered, which was spicy salmon, california roll, and the Rock Star special roll. We ordered all without fish eggs, as the BF no likey. I liked how clean the restaurant seemed and also that our waters were very cold (this sounds like a small thing but it was actually awesome). Great stop for lunch. The outside looks old, but inside its a totally different feel. Well lit and really pleasant, this resto has great service and really great sushi. We had the chicken teriyaki, a rainbow roll, black dragon unagi roll and a crispy crunch roll. All of it was delicious. Rolls are large and generous in sushi portions. We'll be coming back read more

Better sushi than some of the places in my 'burb, Sima is located right in downtown Kingston. Easy to find, but street parking, in a relatively busy area. Seating itself is a bit tight in this restaurant which was busy on a Saturday lunch. I'm assuming that due to the location itself that it's usually busy. Service was prompt, no fuss, and food arrived promptly. Fish was pretty fresh. Prices were pretty decent for lunch. Nothing really standout to comment about, but I enjoyed my meal. read more

Small, neat and unpretentious, this is widely thought of as the premier sushi joint in Kingston. Dined here four times in a week in September '16 and was entirely impressed on all occasions. Food and service are exceptional. Portions very generous and reasonably priced. The Sima Lunch Set is particularly fine and great value. I have no idea why this place is always packed, especially with Sushibar Da and Sushiya Zen on the same block. The sushi rice here is dry and poorly seasoned, creating a base texture that nobody could build off of, even if this place had better than just middling fish. Maybe people like the variety of rolls or the discounted lunch specials or something? But I don't get it. It's one of the busiest sushi places in town and yet it's hands down one of the worst. It's bizarre to see such a high rating on Yelp when there's better sushi both around the corner (Sushibar Da) and across the street (Zen), beating this place into the ground on both prep and quality of fish. I assume people eat here based off sheer inertia and an unwillingness to walk 30 feet for better food. read more

I would honestly say that SIMA is probably the best sushi place in town. The food is served fresh, the staff are friendly and smile (a bit of a rarity in many of the sushi places I've been to) and the sushi is divine! The place is a little small, but they've worked well with the space they've been given and it's still a relaxing atmosphere. The dinner menu is a little overpriced ( Amount of sushi VS. cost), but the lunch menu is quite reasonable. And since it only takes about 5 minutes for the sushi to be made for take out, dropping in and getting yourself a little lunch is worth it at this place. read more

My sweety & I always make Sima Sushi a must for a dinner date when visiting Kingston. The rolls are creative, scrumptious, and will leave you extremely satisfied. Be sure to check out the chalk board at the sushi bar for their specials. We had the jalapeño, which was a highlight. Only came in here for takeout, but the overall restaurant was nice and all the staff were super friendly to myself and other guests. We ordered one of the sashimi, maki and sushi - while it was certainly delicious, the amount of sashimi overpowered the rest of the platter. They were large chunks so if you're a fan of fish then that should be right up your alley. Still a tasty meal nonetheless! I just think next time I'll op for the platter without the sashimi and cross my fingers there's enough variety to keep it interesting. read more

Cozy and elegant sushi restaurant with excellent food. We have eaten lunch and dinner here, and even ordered take-out when we are quickly passing through Kingston. It is fantastic. My husband and I used to come here a lot when we were still in university and even through the restaurant is quite small and very popular, there always seems to be an extra table. I highly recommend the "love love salmon" and "double salmon" rolls (we are salmon lovers) - the mixture of flavours in these rolls is lovely. The staff and service is great, they are efficient, attentive and yet not in-you-face. It's located on Princess Street so parking might be a bit tricky, but the downtown core of Kingston is beautiful in all weather - the walk is certainly worth it! read more

I recommend doing the dinner or lunch deals they have where you get to pick your roll and you get a soup and salad with it. The salad has a house dressing on it that is really unique and delicious. Got my delivery in 20 minutes! I ordered dinner special sushi B (8 sushi and 6 California roll with miso soup and salad) and I enjoyed it although their California roll isn't really legit - just cucumbers avocados and imitation crab meat with red fish roe outside. Surprisingly the miso soup was hot when I got it, not warm. The salad came with its own spicy mayo sauce but I didn't eat it. Yes this meal was pricey though! read more

I wish I lived in Kingston just so I could frequent this sushi joint. I'm usually not a fan of spicy rolls because most restaurants add that line of spicy mayo on top of the rolls and I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. I like how they mix everything together and add it into the roll. Let me tell you, hands down one of the best spicy salmon rolls I've ever had. The rice was cooked perfectly and the salmon had great flavour. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Would love to come back. read more

Sima is my favourite place to get sushi in Kingston. They make the best Yam Tempura Roll and the atmosphere is really cute, despite being a little cramped. The only thing I don't like is how big the sushi rolls are. It's kind of embarrassing to try to eat them in one bite. read more

I have given up on sushi in Montreal, just absolutely given up!! I have tried a ton of different places and what I come up with is inconsistent, underwhelming, unskilled, like very "fast foodie" or so over the top expensive it is just not ever practical to eat. I have decided that the best sushi in Montreal is in Kingston Ontario and it is this guy right here. He could be charging double and I would pay it without even complaining. The only downside to this place is that it's so good, it can be hard to get a table sometimes. So when I am forced to order to go, I'm never disappointed. The only thing about to go stuff is it does not come in the super fun wooden boats. Price, quality and quantity are better than anything Montreal has to offer. It's my favorite stop on the 401 and is totally worth the detour off of the highway. read more

Presentation seemed pretty lacklustre for the nigiri and reminded me of something you would get at a Edos chain for a side dish as looked very mechanically cut and not very "Japanese" like. Lunch specials come with miso and a relatively small serving of salad. Nothing special here and the salad seemed to be wanting. I came here on Sunday for take-out (as my usual sushi restaurant is closed Sundays) and I had heard this was a great spot for sushi. I ordered the yam tempura roll, and the dynamite roll. Price was stellar, what a good deal! I'm used to paying much more for sushi. They accommodated my request for extra ginger and hold the wasabi. The rolls were pretty good. The yam roll could have been a little less greasy though. The dynamite roll was good but very dry for some reason...and I didn't think it needed lettuce as an ingredient (never had a dynamite roll with lettuce on it). Overall I liked Sima, and it's a good "second choice" sushi spot for an awesome price. read more

What we found was a place with the largest variety of delicious vegetarian rolls that I have seen. It is a monday night and at 8pm the place is very busy but we got a table for two quickly. When I walked in they had Wild Salmon Sashimi marked on the chalkboard tells you what is super fresh and available as a Chef special. This is not an AYCE place but what they are is a team of people that strive for excellent service, high quality ingredients and a great beverage list. Lets start with that Wild Salmon Sashimi and it was awesome! My wife had the Sushi-Sasihimi Dinner with the usual Miso soup and Salad. The chilled salad had a very nice gingery dressing. Great assortment of the lower end sushi ingredients like Butter Fish, Salmon, Tilapia and a single Maguro. The interesting thing the chef did was the sushi was actually strips of fish that was 3 times as long as the rice itself. I had the Chef Sashimi special that is $4 more than the regular Sashimi which offers a higher level of fish. Well i got 3 large Maguro, Yellowtail, Salmon (haha he gave me the wild salmon), Tilapia, Butter Fish, and a delicious fish that seemed to have been pressed with another ingredient like a yellow radish. I meant to ask what it was but forgot. My wife just had to have a Dragon Roll as this is her yardstick (mine is the Tuna) and claimed with a mouth full of food " hnxhion mmm fphmmmph good...hjskmmmmmph mmmph" Sorry this is the best ever! We tried the Ozeki Sake. It is dry, served warm and has a fruity smoothness to it. $10 for a 8oz portion which can serve two. highly recommended read more

When you first walk in you'll see that the door is on the left side of the restaurant, you'll notice it's a little small, seating just under 35. It was very busy when I went, around 7:00PM. Seats and tables are set fairly close to each other. The restaurant is clean and humble, which has a comforting feel. Their service is good and they're very friendly. The food came out quickly as well, took under 15 minutes. Also the prices are very good compared to sushi places in Toronto. The sushi itself was fresh and they had different varieties of fish which all had a really good taste. I have had fresher but this is too stuff. They had the usual Salmon, tuna, white tuna, octopus etc. but also had some very different fish and rolls as well. The menu is simple, easy and straightforward. The only improvement I would suggest is having a larger, more shareable item on the menu. read more
