    Sima Lunch Set
    Shahanaz B.

In the little town of Kingston, a little gem is found, which is a sushi restaurant. The place is just ordinary looking. It is not a fancy place at all. We arrived for lunch, therefore we chose food from the lunch specials. I got the Sima Lunch set. I received a delicious green salad, then wonderful warm miso soup, and finally my sushi set, which includes sorted sashimi, California rolls, sorted fish pieces and sweet potatoes tempura. Every single item were super delicious and delightful. The service was super efficient. Excellent place to sit down and good decent sushi.

My BF had a serious craving for sushi at 11:45am while we were strolling along Princess Street so we ended up trying Sima Sushi. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, the chefs greeted us with a quick hello. I like that ;) The waitress was super sweet about us taking our time to order (I was having an issue that morning for a minute wrapping my head around eating raw fish that early in the day lol). We ended up ordering one of the lunch specials and a special roll. We were brought two miso soups and one garden salad. I liked their dressing, which had a stronger red pepper taste than other Japanese salad dressings I have had. Enjoyed the few bites I had of the items we ordered, which was spicy salmon, california roll, and the Rock Star special roll. We ordered all without fish eggs, as the BF no likey. I liked how clean the restaurant seemed and also that our waters were very cold (this sounds like a small thing but it was actually awesome). Little milk candies accompanied our bill - thank you Sima!

Excellent sushi restaurant in a prime location by the waterfront in Kingston. Lots of seating and great service. The sushi was quite fresh and the prices very reasonable. I had one one the lunch specials that come with miso soup and salad.

Great stop for lunch. The outside looks old, but inside its a totally different feel. Well lit and really pleasant, this resto has great service and really great sushi. We had the chicken teriyaki, a rainbow roll, black dragon unagi roll and a crispy crunch roll. All of it was delicious. Rolls are large and generous in sushi portions. We'll be coming back

Better sushi than some of the places in my 'burb, Sima is located right in downtown Kingston. Easy to find, but street parking, in a relatively busy area. Seating itself is a bit tight in this restaurant which was busy on a Saturday lunch. I'm assuming that due to the location itself that it's usually busy. Service was prompt, no fuss, and food arrived promptly. Fish was pretty fresh. Prices were pretty decent for lunch. Nothing really standout to comment about, but I enjoyed my meal.

The Sima Lunch Set. Great food, outstanding value.

Small, neat and unpretentious, this is widely thought of as the premier sushi joint in Kingston. Dined here four times in a week in September '16 and was entirely impressed on all occasions. Food and service are exceptional. Portions very generous and reasonably priced. The Sima Lunch Set is particularly fine and great value. Some evenings you'll find yourself pushed to get a table, so be prepared to wait. It will be well worth it!

Small place with great quality sushi. Some of my favorite ones were dragon green, rock roll, avocado cucumber fresh high quality food. Highly recommend it

I would honestly say that SIMA is probably the best sushi place in town. The food is served fresh, the staff are friendly and smile (a bit of a rarity in many of the sushi places I've been to) and the sushi is divine! The place is a little small, but they've worked well with the space they've been given and it's still a relaxing atmosphere. The dinner menu is a little overpriced ( Amount of sushi VS. cost), but the lunch menu is quite reasonable. And since it only takes about 5 minutes for the sushi to be made for take out, dropping in and getting yourself a little lunch is worth it at this place.

Came here for lunch: Place is small but cozy Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is reasonable and delicious. Take out is quick.

Consistently good sushi, friendly staff, good selection. One of the best places for a casual night out in Kingston!

Decent sushi, okay service; more vegetarian options than usual, which bumped it one star--seemed very average outside that

This one was one of the most depressing experience I've had in my life. The kids were even sad First the grill. It's not the built into the table ones, so no air vents above to suck up the air. They bring the table side one to your table. Second, we had to complain twice about the weak flames/grill and that it was taking over 5 minutes to cook the paper thin beef slices. Kids were starving. Second, banchan. The side dishes. If you've been to any decent Korean restaurants, you know that the free side dishes are full of color and flavor. They only have us these sad dishes. The kimchi was fine, I just wanted some green onions, spinach, bean sprouts, something. Third... no steamed eggs! I don't think I've ever seen a Korean restaurant without Gyeran-jjim. That's one of our favorite side dishes, so that was disappointing. Fourth, garlic. We love getting thin slices of garlic to cook on the grill and eating it in our lettuce wrap. They claimed they didn't have any garlic. Odd. Location, off of the main road with plenty of parking. So that was good. The servers were kind, but had a tough time with the grill to work properly. We finally had one of the male servers to swap out the grill and the meat finally started sizzling. I think this place has great potential, but if it's a portable burner and barely any side dishes, I can easily do it at home. We love going out for kbbq for the full experience of endless banchan. Our search continues...

We got a variety of marinated beef, kalbi, and pork belly. No complaints it gets the job done. Also got an order of tteokbokki and korean pancake which were also just ok. Would've liked the tteokbokki to have some extras in there other than just the rice cake. Textbook 3 star it's just ok but a bit pricy.

First off, the…read moreinterior is nicely decorated with Chinese and Japanese elements, including a bridge over a koi pond (missing fish, but plastic lobsters and crabs were present), artistic pottery, many red lantern lights, and soft Asian music. Even the bathrooms were nicely appointed. The staff were also very friendly. For food, I ordered off the Chinese menu and my wife ordered off the Japanese menu. My parents also ordered off the Chinese menu. I picked the "Sweet Crispy Chicken" which was supposed to be crispy chicken with fried noodles on top. I assumed it would come with some fruit (pineapple or cherries) or vegetable (peppers, carrots, peas, etc.) on the side. Nope, it was literally A LOT of pre-frozen deep fried chicken pieces (like what is part of sweet and sour chicken) with what I think was straight honey poured on top. That's it. It was sweet and greasy but nothing else. When I asked about the noodles, I was told that the kitchen doesn't do that anymore. It was a one-dimensional dish and extremely disappointing. A bowl of white rice came with it, and the rice wasn't cooked properly. That is a shame for an Asian restaurant. We were not offered any hot tea or fried noodles in a bowl either when we entered. Just about every Chinese restaurant I have ever been to has noodles, and most Asian restaurants offer tea. Again disappointing. My wife seemed to enjoy her sushi, and my parents both enjoyed their dishes, so I guess I just pulled the short straw. A picture menu, or an accurate menu description, would have gone a long way to helping me avoid this in the future.

This one has like 15 vegetarian dishes; I actually can't eat all of them in one sitting and I eat a lot. The all-you-can-eat is a great deal if you're a big eater; I have never ordered off the menu. They also have a good deal on their very tasty Shirley Temples (drinks). That said, the mixed reviews on here also make sense to me: the food sometimes varies between cooks/depending on the day, and definitely varies between dishes. Their maki (sushi) is generally not the highest quality, but their vegetable/ pineapple fried rice is probably the best I've had, and I always get their fried banana, avocado salad, and edamame, as well as their tempura (though occasionally it's too greasy). It's a bit like the Mandarin, where you just learn to avoid a few things when you go. Occasionally you get something not great (in which case, they do seem pretty lenient with you leaving only a couple bites of something on your plate...which you can also slowly divide between your other empty plates so they don't care about the leftovers if you get something bad :P ) They have a great tablet ordering system so you can order several times while eating (esp great for those with social anxiety), and staff are generally polite when you do interact with them. Cute koi pond at the entrance too. Lunch is cheaper so I always go for that. This is the restaurant I eat at the most often in Kingston since I'm a vegetarian who eats a lot - definitely recommended :)
