We had just moved back to Fort Drum, NY from living in Korea for the last 3 years. Prior to Korea, we've gone to many Korean bbq in America and have had amazing experiences. This one was one of the most depressing experience I've had in my life. The kids were even sad First the grill. It's not the built into the table ones, so no air vents above to suck up the air. They bring the table side one to your table. Second, we had to complain twice about the weak flames/grill and that it was taking over 5 minutes to cook the paper thin beef slices. Kids were starving. Second, banchan. The side dishes. If you've been to any decent Korean restaurants, you know that the free side dishes are full of color and flavor. They only have us these sad dishes. The kimchi was fine, I just wanted some green onions, spinach, bean sprouts, something. Third... no steamed eggs! I don't think I've ever seen a Korean restaurant without Gyeran-jjim. That's one of our favorite side dishes, so that was disappointing. Fourth, garlic. We love getting thin slices of garlic to cook on the grill and eating it in our lettuce wrap. They claimed they didn't have any garlic. Odd. Location, off of the main road with plenty of parking. So that was good. The servers were kind, but had a tough time with the grill to work properly. We finally had one of the male servers to swap out the grill and the meat finally started sizzling. I think this place has great potential, but if it's a portable burner and barely any side dishes, I can easily do it at home. We love going out for kbbq for the full experience of endless banchan. It's alright. Being the only kbbq place in Kingston you really aren't left with any choice. Also not being downtown on Princess means people don't really know about this place but it doesn't get busy since the place is pretty large inside. We got a variety of marinated beef, kalbi, and pork belly. No complaints it gets the job done. Also got an order of tteokbokki and korean pancake which were also just ok. Would've liked the tteokbokki to have some extras in there other than just the rice cake. Textbook 3 star it's just ok but a bit pricy. read more

My in laws told us about a new Korean bbq place and we were excited to try it. It was a resounding meh. It was disappointing because they don't have the ventilation system set up so we couldn't cook at the table. They also have a very limited meat selection. The kimchi pancake was good but very greasy. The banchan were sparse but decent. I think this place will be better when they get everything sorted. For now, wait until then. read more

We visited there yesterday and were so impressed! Best seafood tofu soup I ever had in Kingston. Not over spicy or salty, and with many layers of flavor. Yummy side dishes with the soup. Will definitely visit again. read more

The decore is dreadful, but read this review to the end please...sorry but the decor looks like a country canadian diner from the 80's- totally tacky . They had paintings or prints of paintings on the walls that looked overkill of something you would see in an old Japanese restaurant from years ago. The colors looked drab and dull. The place needed to be gutted out and redone to suit the name of the place. If you are expecting to see a flaming or burning grill ... sorry about your luck , you won't get to see that like you see on tv, lol. The decor doesn't match the idea of the modern Korean "burning Grill" image you expect. Thank God, the server, was a beautiful friendly lady, looked to be very mature in her professionalism, she was extremely helpful and absolutely amazing . Our family appreciated her explaining the menu to us. Sorry but they had no no alcohol to serve- no big deal- the signs said liquor license coming soon. They had a Pepsi machine filled with CANS of softdrinks - in sight of customers to see. The kitchen counter was filled with clutter of kitchen stuff ( should be kept behind the counter), it seriously felt like we were in a fast food take out place- if that's the look they were going for than my apologies . The prices were NOT take out fast food prices. It was average I guess . Kingston needs to step it up a little to new modern looks. Kingston isn't a place to retire anymore. Surprised that we were served cans of drinks , tall skinny straws in a short glass ( shouldn't be serving straws in the first place- not environmentally friendly). Paper Napkins, straws , old looking menus ( one of the dishes were misprinted and it should have said hot spicy food)... these are things that lower the value and image of a place. Looking past all the negative first impression, the lack of ambiance when you first step inside... like I said our waitress was very professional (we give her a 6 star if we could). To our surprise, the food was absolutely delicious! My daughter who is extremely picky ate almost everything !!! You know the food must be good when she likes it! Seriously though, go for the food ( close your eyes to the decor of you have to lol, the food is by far the BEST! It was definitely presented very fancy and looked like the chefs art work on your plate. The moment the food hit your mouth it was like WOW, mouth watering delicious! If ever there was a place I could vote for for one of those overhaul restaurant decor make over places you see on tv ... my gosh this place would get ten starts ! The food and servers were absolutely wonderful ! I highly recommend this place if you aren't picky ( like me ) about the interior or exterior of a place - don't let it fool you! Go for the kind friendly staff and amazing food! Give this place a chance, it's new- looks like staff were still learning and hopefully they are not finished with their place of redoing it over ... In our opinion, the service was amazing and they were training some girls there when we were there - everyone has to start somewhere and we think this staff was wonderful . I was excited to try this place since the sign had been up for so long. I also like the idea of not having to go downtown for Korean food. It was nice to see that despite it not being open for very long the place seemed to be relatively busy. Unfortunately, my experience was unsatisfactory. The pancake appetizer was bland and greasy. Also I have never tasted so much egg in the dish in my life. The side dishes such as kimchee was a joke given how little the portion which they do not replace- perhaps if we requested for more. The stew I ordered was spicy and yet still kind of lacking in flavour somehow. The portion size outside of the side dishes seemed adequate. The servers were nice so no issues on that front. All in all, I think for the price, this is not where I would choose to spend my money. 1 appetizer, 2 main dishes you are looking at minimum cost of $50 before tips. I think I may be spoiled by the Korean eateries in Toronto. read more
