Not gonna lie, was kinda surprised by this place. Out of my 4 years here I've consistently been a bit disappointed by the sushi places here (sushi quality wise, not necessarily the rice plates and stuff). Was walking by after class and decided that we haven't had sushi in a long time so we just went in. We got the sashimi, maki, sushi party tray (60pcs) as well as the chicken teriyaki to share. For the sushi tray/boat first. These rolls are absolutely massive. They were also pretty great overall. The spicy salmon roll was a bit on the spicier side for me but maybe my spice tolerance is just weak :). Sashimi was ok, I wouldn't say was particularly good or bad, same goes for the sushi pieces. Maki was the winner in this boat (which is rare). The chicken teriyaki came with a bowl of rice and was shredded almost. Don't really know how to explain this one but typically chicken teriyaki is one big piece thats cut into slices but this one was shredded which was different. Would've liked more veggies on the side but it was pretty decent overall. Good sauce. Kinda sad I tried this place so late into my schooling but I'm glad I did! Solid stuff. read more

I thought this place was really good. 3 rolls, and edamame more than filled my girlfriend and myself, and the rolls were HUGE. Super good. Had the green dragon roll, red hot roll and I can't remember the last one but it was essentially a dragon roll topped with crab salad. I will say one thing, the rolls are HUGE. 1.5x the size of normal sushi, and not just rice. Stuffed with fish and filling. Be wary of how much you order. read more

Jina is one of the best sushi spots in Kingston! Their sushi is always yummy and the size of the rolls are massive! As someone who is a big fan of AYCE sushi and can eat an endless amount, this place is just as filling with one roll. I recommend any of their special rolls and bulgogi bento box. Prices are a bit high but if you make the lunch special it's worth it! Service is fast and efficient. Would definitely recommend :) read more

Huge portions, great customer service. Very friendly and honest people. The only downside is the parking situation. There is dedicated parking but could only fit two cars. I ordered a bento box special and the lady originally ordered three rolls. The chef was like,"Are you sure? It's a lot of food!" instead of just making it and charge us for them. My friend and I came here last night and ordered two rolls each. I ordered the spicy red hot and golden dragon rolls. My friend ordered the spicy red hot and spicy tuna rolls. Pros: 1. The rolls were massive! I'd say about 150% the size of rolls you'd get at most restaurants. 2. The price was very competitive. About the same or slightly cheaper than other places (e.g. Sima Sushi). Cons: 1. I'm guessing the fish wasn't very fresh. I wasn't feeling very good and woke up at 6am the next morning with an upset stomach. My friend definitely got food poisoning. This is enough of a turnoff for us to never come back again. The friend who suggested this place has never experienced this before, so perhaps it was a one time thing, but the restaurant's been tainted for me. If you do decide to try Jina, I wish you all the best and hope this never happens to you. read more

I love this place! The rolls are huge! A good bang for your buck if you prefer to eat good quality sushi and now AYCE. It is still really filling! I ate half the roll and had to bring the rest home. I tried their french kiss and it was really good. It was almost unrecognizable as a french kiss! The amount of ingredients ontop of the roll and even under the roll made it so amazingly decorated and tasty. I can't say its exactly like eating art.. As it is kind of piled up .. But it comes close! They were closing soon when we called in to ask if they'd take more customers, at first they were hesitant but we ordered right away on the phone so that the food was ready when we got there! They were super accommodating. Wait staff were also really attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone whose around the Queen's area and wants a filling meal! Sometimes you can just be too lazy to walk all the way downtown :)! Super convenient location for students! Its a student favourite. read more

Disgusting. I ordered a spicy salmon roll after reading the reviews... The thing had barely any meat in it, there were literally 3 pieces with no meat at all just that crunchy crap that most places only put on if you order the crunchy spicy version. The other pieces with meat had one or two of the tiniest pieces ever. This place is a total ripoff, not to mention it was covered with a gross combination sauce. I'd avoid this at all costs unless you enjoy paying for rice and seaweed covered in a gross sauce. This place has gone downhill very bad judging by the reviews from a few years ago. read more

Rolls are too big, tough to eat. Flavour is great, service is very good. Only issue is the roll size, too big to eat in one bite. You've got two choices with the rolls- (i) you've got to do some sort of two bite maneuver which loses everything in the roll, OR, (ii) you try to fit it all in one and it's a serious choking hazard. I wish there was ratings for different things, because if i was rating purely based on the food it would be a 5 out of 5 because i always love the food. Honestly its the customer service that gets me. when Jina's was at their old location on King street, the people were always super sweet and the nicest people in the world. But ever since new owners have taken over, the food is still great but its really hit or miss with the servers and staff. Sometimes they are great and other times they are rude and just don't want to be there. I remember one time i had just ordered a 5$ avocado roll and i didn't tip, and the server looked at me and asked me "why didn't i get tipped" which i thought was super inappropriate of them. Honestly disgusting. Got takeout tonight forgetting about all my negative past experiences. Is this even sushi? Why do we subject ourselves to this when there are so many better sushi places on Princess? My spicy salmon and spicy tuna... I would say I found a piece of fish the size of my pinky nail per maki and the rest of it was filled with what I'm assuming is hot sauce mixed with leftover deep-fried shit (tempura bits). Had one of the worst experiences at Jina Sushi today. We started off with finding a strand of hair in our sushi. The server came over, grabbed the plate without apologizing, and walked away. We then proceeded to sit for 5 minutes (I'm guessing they were DNA checking to see who's hair it was) without anyone coming to take care of us. We had to raise our hands for 5 minutes to get the server to notice us. Note that throughout this entire process, the manager of the store (or owner) never thought for one second that he needed to address this situation. Once the server came over, We had to ask her what the solution for that hair was. She then said "Do you want a new roll or not" but NO APOLOGY. She then proceeded to call the manager to our table, and that's when things really went downhill. That guy came over, and started YELLING. "It's not his hair, it's not his responsibility!" Then rudely grabbed our plates, and yelled again. "JUST DON'T PAY, IS THAT OKAY? IS THAT OKKK?" Honestly, no one expected a store owner/manager to throw a tantrum like that at his own restaurants fault. We did not deserve to be treated like this, and are not a target for rage like that. We have been to JINA before, multiple times, with good experiences. But the treatment we received today is just mind-blowing. Everyone please avoid that place if you can, and if not, check for hairs. If anything, bring a club with you, so you can protect yourself from a raging manager. read more

Came here with my parents and sister for lunch and it was a popular place, filled with people/ students. We all liked our meals, though I don't think it was anything extraordinary or something I've never tasted before. I ordered the Veggie Bento Box (I think that's what it was called, or roughly that). I can't remember exactly everything that came with the bento box but I remember it had a few veggie spring rolls, vegetable gyozas that had soy protein bits in it, and white rice. My sister ordered a Korean bulgogi bento box with white rice on the side, and she said her meal was good too! It's a small place, really close to Queen's campus, and it was a nice environment. Would go back again if I was on campus and was craving Japanese food, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here if I'm being really honest and had other options ! read more

I can't truly give 5 stars, since really good sushi is very, very hard to come by in Ontario. That being said, Jina is fantastic and very well-priced. When I go, it's usually for lunch, and the lunch specials have great value. Sashimi, nigiri, maki and teriyaki are all good. The bento boxes have a lot of food for the price. Service is usually quick, but sometimes they aren't prepared for a rush -- not that you'll wait a LONG time, but a little longer than normal. read more

This is my favourite sushi place in Kingston, and I've been to a lot of them! Rolls are delicious and priced fairly- I would highly recommend the Las Vegas Roll. I also enjoy their sashimi, tempura, and gyoza. The only downside I can think of is the longer wait times for takeout during peak hours, since they'll serve the dine-in customers first, even if they arrived after you did. I've waited 20 minutes for my order before. However, the staff are generally friendly and it's super convenient because it's so close to campus. 5 stars. read more

Just ate at this place for the first time. Ordered with a friend (who eats there all the time!) and spent $40 and got our sushi delivered. It was slimy and inedible when we got it, we called to complain and they offered to send us new rolls. After 40 minutes they arrived, looked just as terrible we called again and they said we could come down and they could look at it. They told us to take a cab there which would cost us $20 each way. They said they would pay the cab fee for the way there and if nothing was wrong with it we would need to pay for a cab home. We knew they were going to say there was nothing wrong with it so we wouldn't get our money back. Side note, while on the phone the employees were yelling back and forth to each other the entire time. Very unprofessional. Disappointed. read more

Food is amazing, sushi is to die for! My favorite is the yum yum roll its fab! The only problem is the server who is the same guy all the time... hes skinny with long hair and he is i believe maybe the manager there because he seems to always be training ppl. Anyways the servers are awful rude and only come by the table once. I complained to his guy with the long hair and his response was there were busy and if wasn't happy with the service i should just order take out or not come back... this floored me and i no longer eat there becAuse of the service but again food was amazing and i would definitely still oder delivery read more

I just had take-out lunch and got the spicy salmon/dynamite roll maki lunch combo which I thought was a good deal.... until I ate the first spicy salmon roll and there wasn't any salmon in it. I would say 4 of the 6 pieces of the roll had ZERO salmon - it was stuffed with tempura crumbs, mixed with spicy sauce. A couple of the pieces had a tiny bit of spicy salmon in them - maybe 10% of the total filling. I called to complain and they said the spicy salmon is 70% tempura/30% salmon. Who would ever know/expect that, and it wasn't even that much salmon. Would not order from them again. read more
