I was very skeptical about chiropractors when I first saw Jason, but he made a believer out of me right away! Any job, structural or stress related issues are no problem for this guy. Jason has a very comprehensive understanding of how the muscles and bones work together and uses many approaches to get at the underlying issue. He has also been helping me with my lifelong TMJ, which has been exacerbated by daily mask use. Jason has also been amazing with scheduling me in between appointments if I have a flare up or migraine going on and can't make it to my next session. While I still don't trust most Chiros, I trust him and his unique approach and talents with whatever I have going on. This place is also family friendly and when it's not during Covid, you can bring your young children to your appointment and there is a play area to keep them entertained. So helpful when you don't have a childcare option! They are also going to start bringing a massage therapist in, so stay tuned for that. Do yourself and your body a favor and give this place a try. I woke up with severe sudden neck and shoulder pain. A day later it was still just as bad and I couldn't move my head without moving my whole body due to pain. I found this office and their website listed a free evaluation so scheduled online and was able to get a same day appt. When I arrived, I was surprised to see that the treatment space / table was completely open and next to the desk / reception area, without any privacy. There was a woman receiving treatment when I walked in which, working in health care, did not seem right or comfortable. I also saw the name was .."family chiropractic" but was surprised to realize that the Chiropractors' child was there running around. I was an early childhood teacher for years so love children, and also am very aware of the challenges and expense of having daycare, and still, it felt incredibly unprofessional to have a toddler running around as I gave info and received treatment, often interrupting her Mom in the middle of it. I might have thought it was less of an issue if I hadn't been in so much pain, but still think a practitioner should be able to focus 100% on the patient when with them. Finally, as I gave info (which was very little - woke up, sudden pain, happened twice before in last 5 years), it seemed to take her a long time to write the info down. I don't feel like she had that much to say or a lot of info to educate me with after hearing what I said. It made me feel less confident in the care I was getting. She did a few adjustments but it was minimal and nothing helped. I realize treatment does not make something go away right away, but in the past initial treatments have provided at least a little relief and this time it didn't. As I went to check out, I was asked about who to bill. I shared that the website and option I selected said "free evaluation" and both looked and me and said, "that's so weird, someone else said they saw that too, but it isn't free." I told them they needed to check their website, which they did and saw what I saw, and blamed it on the website hosting or something. I said I would pay but it looked bad as though they were doing that to get people in but not honoring it. I don't think that was their intention, but again, looks pretty bad. Overall I was really disappointed by the lack of professional environment and care that seemed inadequate. I have since received massage therapy which provided incredible relief and proved to be far more effective and cheaper than chiropractic care.

As a student who is pursuing a medical and science career I only knew about the healing effects of medication. That being said you could understand my skepticism. I was suffering from profound neck and back pain from a horrible auto collision. Despite my primary physician prescribing me pain killers, muscle relaxants and a steroid injection, I was still in horrible pain. I was unable to work and had to take a quarter off from school because of how bad my pain was. Within the first week of daily adjustments, I felt some relief and noticed an increased range of mobility in my neck and back. I no longer felt the need to take strong pain killers and muscle relaxants. I am about 3/4 of the way through my adjustments and I seriously cannot imagine my life without Dr. Clayman helping me. I came to his clinic with the intent to relieve my neck/back pain but I am so greatly amazed by how much the adjustments have helped me overall. I never realized how crucial the spine and nervous system is in regards to your overall health, both physically and mentally. For years I have struggled with insomnia, not even prescription-strength sleeping pills could help me fall/stay asleep for more than an hour. Again, within the first week of adjustments I have been having the best slumbers. I have never fallen asleep so easily and slept for a solid 6 hours, and better yet, I was not in any pain!! Dr. Clayman doesn't just adjust your spine and help you feel better. He also educates you on the importance of taking care of your health holistically and healing. His clinic has a warm ambiance to it as well as friendly staff that always greets you. What I really appreciate about this clinic is how accessible they are. On this particular year we decided, perhaps against our better judgment, to embark on an adventure of downhill mountain biking. Now mind you, I have absolutely zero experience with downhill mountain biking. But what could go wrong? Well, we had a really great day, and there were almost no accidents or injuries. As we reached the end of the day, we decided to spend a few minutes in the mountain bike terrain park, which featured jumps and ramps of various sizes. I went off the small and medium size ramps with no issue, and I should've just declared victory and called it a day at that point. But, instead I decided to go for the largest ramp, which featured an 8 foot drop off. Do you remember the earlier part of this review where I said I had absolutely zero experience with downhill mountain biking? Well that would quickly come back to cause a few issues. As I approached the ramp leading into this big drop off, I neglected to get enough speed, which caused me to get the lip of the ramp and then go over the handlebars of my mountain bike. What in the world does this have to do with a chiropractic clinic located in Newcastle, Washington, you might be asking. Well, after suffering a fairly serious neck injury, Dr. Riordan at The Back Doctor was able to do a series of adjustments and get my neck into a far better place. He is a very friendly guy, and he certainly knows his stuff. I appreciated his flexible scheduling policy, and he has also done chiropractic work on my wife's neck, which has worked wonders. I definitely recommend that you avoid going off large mountain bike jumps if you don't have the requisite experience, but I do recommend that you see Dr. Riordan if you have issues with your neck or back.
