Gather 'round friends, because I'd like to tell you a bit of a tale about a moment of foolishness. A few years ago I was with a few my of my oldest and closest friends for our annual reunion trip. On this particular year we decided, perhaps against our better judgment, to embark on an adventure of downhill mountain biking. Now mind you, I have absolutely zero experience with downhill mountain biking. But what could go wrong? Well, we had a really great day, and there were almost no accidents or injuries. As we reached the end of the day, we decided to spend a few minutes in the mountain bike terrain park, which featured jumps and ramps of various sizes. I went off the small and medium size ramps with no issue, and I should've just declared victory and called it a day at that point. But, instead I decided to go for the largest ramp, which featured an 8 foot drop off. Do you remember the earlier part of this review where I said I had absolutely zero experience with downhill mountain biking? Well that would quickly come back to cause a few issues. As I approached the ramp leading into this big drop off, I neglected to get enough speed, which caused me to get the lip of the ramp and then go over the handlebars of my mountain bike. What in the world does this have to do with a chiropractic clinic located in Newcastle, Washington, you might be asking. Well, after suffering a fairly serious neck injury, Dr. Riordan at The Back Doctor was able to do a series of adjustments and get my neck into a far better place. He is a very friendly guy, and he certainly knows his stuff. I appreciated his flexible scheduling policy, and he has also done chiropractic work on my wife's neck, which has worked wonders. I definitely recommend that you avoid going off large mountain bike jumps if you don't have the requisite experience, but I do recommend that you see Dr. Riordan if you have issues with your neck or back. I came in on a friend's recommendation. I'm so glad I did. Not only did Dr. Reardon straighten me, my hunch is gone! I grew an inch too! How, you say? Went to my family Dr right after an adjustment and low and behold, I went from 6.0` to 6.1`( I see Fam.Dr. about every 3 month's. After multiple ajustments). How cool! Dr. R. Doctors were great. Front desk staff unfortunately don't know basic administrative functions required for any medical office. Was told at my initial appointment that the total out-of-pocket cost for a new patient visit was broken down $70 for x-rays, $50 for adjustment and $60 for consult = $180. At my next appointment, the front desk staff said my initial X-ray was $140 because the doctor took two images, versus one. Nothing was communicated to me that each x-ray was $70 per image at my initial appointment, thus informed consent for adequate decision making was not made. Upfront prices are not accurately communicated and if you are on a high deductible heath insurance plan, I do not recommend based on the frequency of visits and incompetent office manager/front desk personnel. Side note: as a person with a heath informatics undergrad degree and an MHA, I do NOT trust healthcare clinics still utilizing paper medical records. My piece of advice for the father/son providers is to hire recent health information management graduates to implement a health IT system and ultimately redefine patient satisfaction via improved care coordination. read more

DR Reardon is the best chiropractor I have been to. He always fits me in when I need an adjustment and the relief I feel is amazing. There have been times I had a pinched disc or my hip is out and he spent a lot of time on the areas, making me feel so much better. I highly recommend him. read more

Dr. Reardon needs 10 stars, not 5. No one walks away from his office without relief. This is one of the best doctors I have found. I went to see him for severe neck and back pain. He works very hard to build relationships with his patients and has many regular clients. Dr. Reardon loves what he does and truly helps people. He's the master of chiro so please don't waste your time going anywhere. If he was in Bellevue, he would close half of the clinics. From the many appointments I've had, I don't even have one to complain about. I'm leaving this review to support his practice The Back Doctor and as a gratitude for the care he has provided for me. I have suffered from back and sciatica nerve pain for four years. Years of physical therapy, acupuncture, exercise, massage and orthopedists I found Dr. Reardon. He has identified the source of the pain and is working change the structure and health of my back. I have total trust in his knowledge and his patience in dealing with my spine issues. Before making the appointment for my husband, I called our insurance to verify this office was on our preferred list and what they would cover. Our insurance company is great and covers everything with a small $30 co-pay. I then decided to call this office to make an appointment, being sure to let the admin know of our insurance company and asked them to do an authorization with them. I also, asked if they took Care Credit and if she could look into it for me (a credit account we use to pay for co-pays). The woman, who I thought was being helpful, was more just rushing around the subjects and seemed eager to have us just come in and we'll see when we get there. A day later, we come in for the appointment and ask again about both the authorization of our insurance and the care credit. Again, the admins were to rushed to give us a straight answer. Long story short - we finish with the adjustment and come out thinking we only owe the co-pay and find that the bill comes to $178!! And no, they did not take Care Credit. A couple days later, thinking how crazy this is that this could not possibly be a 20% of the entire visit (20%, being the amount we would owe and our insurance covering the other 80%). We call our insurance to find this office never did an authorization with them and they reassured us that our insurance would have covered everything with us only paying a $30 co-pay. The women at Dr. Reardon's office were to lazy to look in to our insurance company and take care of those bases first. Also, not to mention, the Dr. was rushing between 3 different areas attending to 3 patients at once and did not seem to be asking detailed questions to first time patient, my husband. Who knows what every little thing he did, was probably being charged. This seems super shady of the entire office, to think they were probably just pocketing the money. Super unorganized and unprofessional. We will not be returning here and this complaint will definitely be told to others when we hear of friends/family looking for a chiropractor. read more

Money, money, money. It's all about the money. He will have you go 5 times a week forever if you let him. He will sell you every crazy gadget and even orthotics. After months of paying for out-of-pocket visits, I got smart and quit going. I ended up being in worse condition than when I first started going there. Been coming here for a few years (avg ~20 adjustments/year) and Dr. Reardon is fantastic. Staff is friendly and on a first name basis. This is my go to Chiropractor for back pain from my bad posture and any other back issues that come up. I had a couple injuries which required delicate adjustments over a month's time, and though painful (from the injury), fixed the issue. Appointments are not required, so walk-ins are welcome. Unfortunately due to this, sometimes the wait can be 30-40 minutes before Dr. Reardon can see you and he is the only chiropractor in the office. Many times he has stayed late to accommodate patients. When the office is not busy, there is little waiting. I think the busiest times tend to be late afternoon. I've never had any problems with them billing my insurance. read more

They get the job done. It may not be fancy inside but I think that's because his focus is helping as many people as possible. Their approach is holistic-- avoiding medication and surgeries. I think the office is so busy because after a few visits, patients realize he is there he genuinely wants to help. He's not just a back doctor, he addresses the problems that cause the back problem (foot, hip, posture, lifestyle). Unfortunately, insurance doesn't always cover the number of visits necessary to heal but they sell quantity packages at reasonable prices. I am so thankful that I found the chiropractor I have been looking for nearly sixty years that is correcting my spinal injuries. I was a four foot tall pre-teen that dove into three feet of water and unfortunately jammed my neck and spine. Back then chiropractic was largely nonexistent. I got fairly used to tolerating my injuries and between my twenties and sixties I visited many chiropractors that gave my maintenance and no correction. I fortunately found Dr. Reardon's office near my home. I have never experienced the vast adjustment techniques and the wisdom of Dr. Reardon. You may think your spine is OK but allow Dr. Reardon verify it. I have never been so comfortable in my life. read more

I visit Dr. Reardon for the first time almost a year ago. They took some X-Rays and he sat with me to explain the issues I had in my neck and lower back and what the treatment would be like. The adjustments were made weekly and after two months not only did I feel great and the pain was gone, but I could see in the second sets of X-Rays that things were lining up nicely. The lady at the front desk guided me thru the insurance paperwork and the claim. I highly recommend Dr Reardon - I sit at a desk and have neck, back and arm issues and was in a lot of pain. I was referred to Dr Reardon by a friend and am so grateful for the progress I have made thanks to Dr Reardon. I am no longer in pain and can move more easily. I would give this place negative stars if I could. Their accounting practices are beyond suspect and the doctor is a turn-style where all he does is schedule folks to increase his pocket book and there's no recovery plan. I had an accident and went here, they refused to bill my insurance, so they can continue getting a higher rate by putting a lien on my account; continued to give me equipment with out letting me know that it wasn't going to be covered by my insurance. These people aren't even reasonable to deal with after finding this out, they are more of a headache than the insurance companies are. If you want to get better, stay away and avoid the headaches. I have been to several other places and far better experiences with the office staff and doctors. read more

This location is located in a shopping center with multiple other stores. because it is in a shopping center there is plenty of parking and no assigned stalls for each store front. directly next to this chiropractic shop is an incredible hair salon and if you're a girl you know how long it takes to dye your hair. I arrived at the salon at 2 PM and after a full foil, shadow root, partial balayage, shampoo , co do too we, blow dry and cut and curl I was done and was sitting in my car at 6 PM. it took four hours and I was so hungry that I was sitting in my car eating my chips. Some older man comes out told me to roll down my window and without introducing himself or saying hi asked me if I work in the shopping center. I had a mouthful of chips and I said no I do not and he responded with "well you've been parked here all day" insinuating I was taking up his parking stalls Infront of his store for his customers. .... first of all, none of your business and secondly I felt incredibly uncomfortable with him walking up to my car and telling me to roll down my window. it was so rude of him to make me feel like I had done something wrong. it is not ok to approach a young woman sitting alone in her car and question her on something so ridiculous as being parked for a while. And if 2-6 pm is all day then that's something new to me. read more

When I was in a car accident, one of the people I went to see what Thomas Reardon at the Back Doctor in Renton, referred by another doctor. They refused to charge my insurance and said that it wouldn't be covered even though I don't them that my insurance covered the last chiropractor and I just had co-pays; they dismissed what I said and said that they would just put a lien on my car accident claim. When I received my first statement from them, there were finance charges on there... I called to asked why there were finance charges on the bill if they knew it was car accident and that they would get paid when it was settled, or if they want the money now to go ahead and charge my insurance and I can take it up with them. Their response is that they would remove the charges once its time to pay and that it's automatically added. Well, it's time to pay and now they won't remove the finance charges or even work on the total bill portion. Aside from not helping me at all, with the technique, not having a recovery plan or anything and now this headache. I would advise not going here. I had better luck with Back to Health in Bellevue, even though it was temporary relief, it's better than nothing and there's no billing headaches read more

i wish i could give this place no stars because they dont deserve any. i had never been to a chiropractor before them so i didnt know what to expect. after my 1st visit the "doctor" told me i would need to come 3 times a week for 3 months then 2 times a week for a month then i could just come once a week. that was pretty impossible for me to do & being a single mom i really couldnt afford that. he ended up giving me a belt that was supposed to help with my tilted pelvis, it was a lifting belt. once that happend i figured he didnt know what he was talking about so the next day i went to a different doctor who was laughing when i told him about the belt. he also said it was crazy for them to tell me to come that often & that the doctor there must have just been trying to get my money. a few months later i get a bill in the mail for the belt, they told me my insurance should cover it so i was a little connfused. i had never worn the belt since i am a small female i dont need a lifting belt.. so i called and they told me to just bring the belt in & they would take the charge off my account. later that same day i brought the belt in and the "office manage" who cant even speak good english keep in mind starts giving me major attitude about trying to give the belt back. she claims i wore it because it has fuzzies on it. i removed the 3 fuzzies and explained it had just been sitting in my car but she continued to be rude and told me i was rude for trying to give it back. and said i wasnt told about how much it would cost because she couldnt "look into a crystal ball and know" but seriously 3 months later? i was told i would get a phone call not a bill 3 months later sent to my parents adress! dont go here they are very unprofessional & have no customer service skill what so ever. read more
