I had a horrible, white hot burning pain in my leg from sciatic nerve problems, and after one visit to Dr. Yu, it went away, never to return again. Granted, I needed a lot of work done to get me back in line completely, but seriously, I never had the horrible pain I had been experiencing after that first visit. Dr. Yu explained everything to me quite thoroughly, as I didn't really know anything about chiropractic treatments, and made me comfortable about the whole process. I was HAPPY to drive to Millbrae from Sunnyvale twice a week to get adjustments done, because I felt great getting them done. I only did the twice a week thing for a little while, however, as my back started getting better and better, and so we were able to stretch the time in between appointments until I was going once a month. Sadly, I changed jobs and now have longer hours, and am no longer able to make it to his office for adjustments. I have not yet found ANYONE who compares to Dr. Yu. He is fantastic! read more

Before seeing Dr. Yu, I had never been to a chiropractor so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Dr. Simon Yu is awesome!!! I had a pinched nerve radiating down my right arm from back to R shoulder. I literally couldn't do much and was very limited in motion, it didn't help having a four month old baby either who loves to be held. Couldn't jog, do my daily chores, state of mind was a little bit off (because I didn't even want to go shopping!), etc. After a 2-3 appointments with Dr. Yu, I was well adjusted and back to normal...imagine eight weeks of suffering. Tried physical therapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, etc - none worked, though the massage may have helped a bit. I've known Dr Simon since we were in high school- just about 20 years. He's not only my friend but my doctor as well. I started seeing him after a major car crash where I rolled down the hill of 280. I have to admit that i've been very skeptical of Chiropractors mostly because I just never knew what to expect and what they could or could not do. After looking through Yelp (thank you!) I decided to see Dr Simon to address a long standing neck pain since my surgery two years ago. Dr. Simon addressed the pain with simple adjustments over a series of months and slowly but surely, my body started to heal itself as he said it would. Dr Simon is a fine doctor, but I stopped going to him because he did all of the talking and none of the listening. After seeing him 2x a week for over a month, he couldn't remember how I had gotten hurt or that I had just had a baby. However, I knew EVERYTHING about his father's club, his business, his parents, his parents' food business, his exotic meat club BBQ, and his kids. I started going to see Dr. Yu early on in the 3rd trimester after my OB recommended going to see a chiropractor specialized in Webster's Technique, to help get baby into a good position and help with preparation for labor. I found Dr. Yu in the Bay Area Birth Information Directory. My main reasons for choosing him was because they would take my insurance. Dr. Yu promised to help me get prepared for labor by practicing Webster techniques and ensuring that broad ligaments were not too tight and such. I soon discovered that Dr. Yu is a chiropractor "who also" does prenatal. a) He doesn't take enough time for his patients, appointments last about 5 to 10 minutes. I spent more time driving to appointments than attending them. b) For prenatal, he is not gentle. Each appointment consisted of cracking my bones into place. This is too harsh of an approach to prenatal care, because pregnant women have a hormone called relaxin in their joints which makes them overly pliable. c) He doesn't take time to ask you how you're doing, so he basically doesn't have time to assess you for any problems at each appointment. d) Even though he promised to proactively help with baby's positioning, he did not practice Webster's at each appointment. He was also quite rough on the muscles, so it usually hurt when he applied pressure. e) This is subjective but I think the cracking bones made my baby feel unsafe and she never got head down and now I'm due for C-section. I can't speak to other kinds of care, but if you are looking for prenatal care, you want a doctor that will take the time to see you, for at least 30 to 45 minutes. Most treatment should be done on soft tissue (muscles and ligaments). My baby was never acknowledged during any treatment. He didn't seem to know anything about "palpation" (checking baby's position) which suggests prenatal isn't a true specialty of his. Last, I was never offered help up from the table--pregnant women are carrying a large load and do need a bit of help up, you know. After seeing a specialized prenatal chiropractic practitioner only twice just recently, I got quicker relief because work was done directly on the muscles and joints that needed work, and the Webster's technique was applied every time. I do not recommend Worldwide Chiropractic for prenatal, Dr. Yu needs to get to know midwives, doulas, and others in the birth community more seriously and understand the needs of pregnant women beyond general chiropractic are before he can truly say he is Webster's certified. read more

Simon Yu is brilliant! He's helped my husband a lot with his sciatic nerve pain and he's also helped me with my ongoing neck/shoulder pain. I appreciate his input and advice about how to maintain good posture and health. The appointments are very effective..just a tad bit short in my opinion. Sometimes I feel a tiny bit rushed. Dr. Yu is a miracle worker! I have double scoliosis and neuropathy which can cause incredible pain. I was in intense pain, the worst ever, and was using a cane, which I have never done before. After four treatments by Dr. Yu, I felt about 30% relief. Dr. Yu suggested I try lidocaine and motrin injections given by the office nurse practitioner. Now my pain is about 70% gone. Dr. Yu noticed I was walking around the office and had forgotten to use my cane! I am so grateful for the treatment I received. read more

My family and I have been using Simon Yu as our chiropractor for over 3 years. Our relationship began when he and his wife were my patients and delivered their baby at my birth center. Then my son in law needed treatment for a severe neck issue and Simon proved to be the first and only person that could help him. After that, my daughter consulted and worked with him due to a shoulder injury she sustained as a dancer and acrobat 12 years earlier (as a teen). She had tried other chiropractic care without sucess but Simon was able to help her. I began seeing him after injuring my neck. I have been a patient of Dr. Simon for the last 6 years. He has helped me in many ways. The one problem that stood out the most that he has helped me with, is my herniated disc's. Once I had a huge huge sharp pain in my back, in which I couldn't walk or stand. I could not move or anything. Tears were popping out of my eyes. I had a charlie horse lasting for 24 hours and it just didn't stop...my sister had to massage it all night long. I could not lay down to sleep, I had to sleep in a sitting position. My sister drove me to see Dr. Simon for two days straight after that and it eased the pain tremendously. The relief that I got was so great...I felt SO much better. It is really indescribable.
