When I came back, I was lying on the couch, and one of the residents started slapping my leg, telling me, "Get up, get up! You have to move. Get up!" Because I was so out of it after just coming back from the ER, I jumped up without really knowing what I was doing and told her, "Don't ever touch me again." They gave me my belongings and made me walk home in 60-degree weather while I had pneumonia! I ended up getting so sick that I had to go back to the ER, and I almost died. I did nothing wrong. Another client touched me, and then they tried to go back to my insurance company and claim that I was aggressive, when I had literally just returned from the ER and could barely move. They don't care about their clients. They care about the money. Admissions treated me horribly, and I ended up costing my insurance company thousands of dollars in treatment because they sent me home when I was seriously ill. They could have killed me. Don't ever go to this place. They're horrible. They don't care about anybody, and they don't care about people getting sober. They only care about the money.

I'm not surprised that he still works there. Women, and men, don't go here!!! It's a hell hole. it's not even in Malibu! There Malibu house burned down. It's in Agoura Hills! It's a nice place but I'm sorry, it's NOT MALIBU!!! False advertising! A friend picked up my belongings but I'm still waiting for them to ship me my purse, credit cards and other items. DONT GO HERE FOR YOUR RECOVERY!!! A lot of the staff and counselors are good but it's not worth it in my opinion unless you want to be drugged out , 1 counseling session in 3 long drawn out week while the pneumonia took over and the dehydration started. After carrying out a lifestyle in addiction for years surrounding by fake friends & nights with nowhere to sleep, these clients want to wince at the tiniest uncomfort all of a sudden while detoxing?! The Giving Tree provided everything that was on the website and was promised, theres no reason to give a 1 star because some didnt get meds for 24 hours, because they always provided something immediate to help sleep and anxiety, but if one is referring to waiting 24hours to take Subutex or Suboxone, YES, that is true! & That is so you don't go into immediate withdrawal & possibly DIE, if you take before 24 hours!? I was never comforted better than when I was at the Giving Tree. Paulina and Daisy were both SO inspiring, and helped give me strength when I was feeling down!! I will forever be grateful to them for my sobriety!! Addiction is difficult, and no matter how amazing a program is, you need to dig down deep and be willing to change. So the next client who's upset they cant fulfill their Family's wishes of a life in sobriety, please don't use this awesome program as a scapegoat !
