Ahhh Simones. My end all be all go to liquor store. They have pretty much everything you can think of. Mixes. Glasses. Kegs. Mini kegs. Soda/pop. Wine. Claws. Natty seltzer. Anything that gets you intoxicated....they have it. Location has been here as long as I remember. Parking lot is a little cramped but other than that I can't complain. Great service and great selection of all kinds of liquor and beer. I was looking for Middleton and they had it one of the few places I've I've seen in the whole country that had it. what's happening is some modern New wealth is come in and people are buying expensive whiskeys even though they don't really have an appreciation for them. they also had some of my favorite Great lakes beer called Eliot Ness Brown lager. Over priced alcohol and poor customer service. Walked out with the wrong beverage. I walked immediately back in. They didn't have what we were looking for and wanted a refund. Whoever I was talking to said it was against the law to return it. Offered store credit but they didn't have what we were looking for. Customers can browse a fantastic selection of import and craft beers as well as a diverse sampling of international wines and specialties, everything from "Porto" to "Pimm's Cup." Distilled spirits abound with several varieties of Bourbon, Gin, Rum, Rye, Tequila, Vodka, and Whiskey. Equally well appointed are some above average mixers and fixings, (notably the higher-end bitters). Nobody wants to see a zoomed in closeup of my big head on my Ohio ID. My home bar is well stocked. A shame that nobody comes to visit. I drink alone. Simone's is A-OK in my book. Here's the thing--I don't care about craft beers because I don't drink beer. However, I would recognize a big selection if I actually saw it. But when I go to Simone's, I b-line right to the tequila, grab a bottle, and go to the checkout. I've never actually ventured to any other parts of this liquor store. They have an OK tequila selection, but this is NE Ohio. You're not going to find a super-impressive selection of hard-to-find sipping tequilas without doing your research and really looking around. So, those things in addition to that fact that while I've always received adequate customer service, I've never actually been smiled at by anyone who works there--puts us at a 3-star rating. As someone who has worked in retail and as a bartender, smiling at customers and making them feel welcome is part of the gig. I mean, no one has been rude to me. But I also feel like every person who has checked me out would secretly rather be dead, body being eaten raw by a herd of vicious animals, than taking my money for booze. Also, that parking lot layout as GOT to go. It's the worst. read more

Everything beer you could want and a ton of beer you didn't know about until you walked in. Great place Craft beer selection is second to none in the Cleveland area. Their inventory is almost intimidating. Everything from all the local breweries to the stuff oceans away and everything in between. Prices are good (comparable to the other beer/wine/liquor stores in the area). Selection is massive. This place really knocks it out of the park with their customer service though. They will let you buy a single beer from just about any 4-6 pack you can find. So if you really want to try a specialty beer and you don't want 6, this place will hook you up. Another thing about that is, they will let you buy one solitary beer. I'm not saying I would. But it's damn convenient that you don't have to make up a six pack of assorted beers. You can just get one. Will be back often. read more

I am a beer freak. I homebrew, I've got a cap collection with over one thousand different and unique beers that I've drank since 2003. Of course, a significant portion of my girth can be attributed to the barley wine, and a significant portion of that portion can be attributed to Simone's. I love Simone's beer selection, and I've loved it for years. Not only do they carry craft brews and kegs of beer and rare bottles of Belgian beers, but, they also have a pick-a-six, wherein I can buy six different beers, and still bring a six pack to a party. Simone's would get a fifth star, but, the snack selection is kind of sketchy to be kind. It's as if most of the off-brands got together and decided to force out the good stuff. The selection of soda leaves a lot to be desired, even from a mixing standpoint -- Tough to drink a scotch and soda when the soda looks like no one's touched it since 08. read more

I have a thing about beer. I mean, it's not a problem or anything but it's something I'm terribly fond of and like to explore. Thing is, if I find an interesting beer but it turns out to be a clunker then I'm stuck with five bottles of the stuff. While that sounds like first world problems, and it is, it's still irritating. Fortunately for those of us who really need variety and experimentation, places like Simone's has us covered. I can roll in all casual-like, pick up a flattened six pack holder and proceed to fill it up with whatever single bottles strike my fancy (and there are A LOT). If you missed that late-season Bell's which you shouldn't be able to get three months after it released or if you're still dying for an Anchor Christmas Ale, you are totally covered. The single bottles range anywhere from $1.50 to $6 (or more, if you're into larger formats) and there's something for everyone. Because they're strays, the selection changes on a really good rotation so very rarely are they too heavy on one type or another. There's also plenty of non-booze to choose from, tons of wines, bottles of whatever and your garden variety snacks and some sundries as needed. $5 minimum on credit cards and depending on the upcoming holiday, enjoy the people watching. read more

This place has the BEST beer selection I've seen in a long time! We happened upon it by accident while the in-laws were visiting and we were looking for a fairly cheap bottle of wine. I turned a corner or two, and bam! Beers everywhere. In the fridge and on shelves. By the case, six-pack, and individual bottle. From all around the world! I have usually been going to Lilly's for beer, but now I won't have to travel far. Another plus: they have reviews of their wine posted on little signs with a small description of what they taste like. But in totally normal, layman's terms (which I appreciate). Instead of yapping about the "subtle notes" or the tannins or whatnot, it tells you how sweet it is or what it tastes like (not what's it's "reminiscent of." I will admit that I love sweet wines, and I found a lot of red wines here that I could see myself enjoying. read more

I have been going to Simone's on and off since I moved to Lakewood about a year ago until just this past weekend when they have converted me over to a customer for life. I had ordered two kegs from another local beverage store only to find out last minute that one "never got ordered" and I thought I was screwed. Stopped by Simone's and talked to Mark on Thursday about the situation. He had his distributor on the phone within the minute, got a list of beers/prices, got one ordered and delivered the NEXT DAY. He even texted me when it got delivered so I could come snag it for our party. Their customer service goes above and beyond anywhere I have shopped in the Cleveland area. Couple that with an excellent selection of beer, wine, and liquor with competitive pricing; I won't need to go anywhere else for my alcohol selection. Simone's has it all...at least anything a gluten drinking Lakewoodite would be looking for. The only lacking area (for me) is the selection of gluten free beer. I've never seen any. Other than that, Simone's delivered anything I've ever been looking for, including two liter bottles of Cotton Club's Club Soda. I should start a list just for Club Soda...it is a major pain in my behind that local Giant Eagle's don't carry the full range of club soda. Ever stop at a Kroger's or Bigg's in the greater Cincinnati area? There are lots and lots of distributors of bubbly water down there. Schweppes. Kroger brand. It is too much for my club soda addicted mind to handle. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, Simone's could handle more club soda variety, but I'm probably more of a club soda freak than their average customer. There is a full range of liquor and lots and lots and lots of beer. I've bought cheap corn tortilla chips there too...the kind with the pretty girl in the skirt on the bag. I was looking for a one-stop shop for all of my wedding drink supplies (bottled beer, draft beer, wine, full-proof liquor, mixers/cordials, soft drinks). I was referred to Simone's in Lakewood. Simone's is, indeed, a one-stop shop, and they hold a pretty wide selection of beer, wine, & liquor. I sent Marc, one of the managers, a detailed list. They had almost everything in stock, ordered in what they didn't, & for 2 admittedly scarce spirits, they offered & provided comparable alternatives. Ahead of placing my order, I scouted prices. Their total charge was awfully close to what I expected, so the prices were right on. Marc was helpful, communicated thoroughly with me, & was diligent (triple-checked for accuracy).
