If I was any better at skating, I'd come here all the time - free admission, rentals only $5 (CASH…read moreONLY), a pretty view of the harbor, and an absolutely banging playlist, what's not to love? Plus, indoors, a massive boon for when being outside for any amount of time is miserable, which beats Frog Pond. As it were, I spent the first half hour practically clinging to the thin ledge, just trying to stay upright, but still had so much fun. Some tips: 1. Get here early on weekends, right when it opens for public skating - 4pm. You get to be one of the first to get your skates; you can stake out a convenient spot to get on/off the ice; you can have more of an empty rink to play; AND you get dibs on the stacks of crates. 2. Speaking of, the crates are such a genius, low-cost way of helping people get the hang of balancing without having to edge around slowly. As with many things, the stability that comes with skating comes with some amount of speed, which you can't really achieve by pulling yourself along the ledge. 3. Watch out for when it gets crowded, as you have not-so-good skaters like moi, the people practicing spins and jumps in the center, and the speed demons swooshing around. Then you have some random citizen police (who are not the actual rink security keeping an eye on things) trying to convince you to let go of your stack of crates and to practice being out on the open, in the form of an older lady barking orders at me. It was super bizarre. Let me do my thing! 4. The surface got very chipped in a short amount of time, and it was murder on my ankles after a while. 5. Parking is very tricky in this part of the North End. SpotHero or the T are your friend. 6. Whoever was in charge of the playlist, I doff my hat to you. So many bangers, one after the other, to skate to.

We came here on a weekday afternoon during a winter holiday week and had a blast!…read more This place features a large wooden rink in the middle, a smaller practice rink on one side, a window for rental skates in both kid and adult sizes, and an arcade section and snack bar with eating area on the other side. Admission with rental skates included was $10 per person with no time limit. The decor was reminiscent of the early 2000s (think: neon glow-in-the-dark murals on concrete walls) and they played pop hits ranging from the 2000s to modern day. It felt a bit like a 2000s-era after school program activity in the best possible way! Overall, we had a great time skating here for about an hour. The staff were good about keeping people moving in the same direction, and the rink had plenty of people, but not too many as to cause a constant danger of collisions. This would be a great experience for children and adults alike. Especially for the price, the hours of fun here can't be beat!

They also have a few arcade games where you can win tickets and a snack bar with plenty of seating. I used to skate a ton when I was younger, and was looking for something fun and active for both of us to do together (instead of me watching her run around at the playground or spending over $20 per hour for her to jump at a trampoline park- this is the perfect fit and really affordable, and we both get exercise and have fun. We're looking forward to going again soon!

I check in here every time they play and have seen the rink finally upgrade into providing a nice concession stand like others have done. They serve hot and cold foods now, and overall the *stinky* factor is not bad "Marlborough being the worse." The only thing I see lacking in this rink is the weather control "NATICK being the best so far for temperature and choice seating...you can sit behind the penalty boxes AWESOME!" Unlike the other rinks, their heating is not on par with the rest so a jacket/blanket is def required. I like that they have separate entrances for the teams and they do not have to have the teams walk through the actual lobby to get there (which I have also seen some rinks do "MARLBOROUGH" There is ample parking that is close and a Dunkin's/stores nearby. While the rink itself is very clean, modern and actually fairly nice compared to other rinks I've been to, my only complaint being the fact that the parking spots are at the street and not adjacent to the rink, which makes for a short but annoying walk, especially when it's raining or carrying heavy hockey gear. That aside, the interior of the place isn't too cold which is nice for spectators who don't want to freeze their butts off and the ice is of pretty good quality, although it does tend to take a while to freeze over once the zamboni runs. That aside, the locker rooms are numerous, I counted four, are kept clean and warm as well. Sometimes too warm but that's not a bad thing, especially in winter. I have yet to go there for a public ice skating session but would go there in a heartbeat as I find it quite nice.

What a perfect time for ice skating!…read more I was driving home from the Fresh Pond Mall yesterday and decided to take the long route home via my old town, Belmont. As I drove past Belmont High and wondered what the mobile home looking things were in the school's parking lot I remembered a very important thing. I can go ice skating for free at the school's rink! So, here's yet another free and fun activity. Pick up a calendar with the times of public and family skating, it is advised that Belmont residents are the only ones who can use the rink. Don't feel like being indoors? NO problem. Right across the street, next to the pool is a little self made rink where some kids were playing ice hockey. I hope you are enjoying the winter sports!!!
