Rory is a bit rude in his later years. I was disappointed in his interpersonal tact in just regular conversation. I believe if he treats me this way, it's likely he treats others this way as well. We won't be doing business here moving forward, as there are smaller bike shops with better service and people who aren't conveying passive aggressive energy towards their customers. We've known Rory a long time too, of which have purchased our first bikes when we were kids. When we mentioned that, his rude attitude didn't change. I went in there to do a simple pedal install. I just didn't have a pedal wrench while visiting my son. I purchased cycling shoes and pedals at my work. I was charged $20 to do the pedal install. Probably because I'm a female but maybe that's really what you charge. I run a bike shop myself and we charge $6 for a pedal install. I needed it done so I paid it, but it seemed dishonest to charge that. I would have bought the pedal wrench but they did not have one at the time. read more

Every time I go into Simple Sport Rory/Staff affords the upmost respect, pricing, and service. Rarely have I ever met a business owner who is as kind and generous to their clientele. In response, I respect them as a local entrepreneur in that they need to make money to eat and live. Rory always helped me in terms of replacing parts myself. When I couldn't, they were able to make repairs reasonably quick and it was very affordable. Simple Sport is a fun safe local disk golf skate shop with incredible pricing, selection, and character. I'm local, and they've always taken great care with my needs/problems. If I'm going to spend my money anywhere, I'm more than happy to spend it at Simple Sport !!! read more

Literally every time I go there I have problems with the owner. When I was a kid working a newspaper route I had saved up a little over a hundred dollars to purchase a skateboard. He asked me where I got the money like I stole it when I was like 14. Then another time he sold me a crappy longboard for 150 which I had tried to return before I rode it because I had a bad feeling and he wouldn't let me with a pissed off attitude. Is that how you treat all your customers? Longboard broke after about 12 rides not bombing hills or going crazy or nothing. He was unwilling to fix it, again with this attitude like he wanted me dead or something. Then he followed us around the store with his arms crossed like he thought we were stealing or something. Don't give this asshole your money. What a horrible person. Literally every time I see him he is so judgemental and I have done nothing to deserve it. I honestly think he's racist or something because there is no excuse for this behavior. Extremely unprofessional and hurtful. read more

Really careless and sloppy work My wife and I bought 2 new Schwinn's on Amazon.com Called to get an assembly quote. $30-50 per bike. They were nice on the phone, so we hired them. When we picked them up, they charged us $65 per bike, with no explanation. When we got them home, a pedal fell off within 5 minutes. It had never been tightened. Then another piece fell off. Brakes were adjusted okay. Nothing else was aligned properly. Chains on both bikes clank in all gears except one. Their work was disappointing. We live an hour away from Menomonie...or we would have brought them back to be redone. They might be okay it you live close, and can conveniently take things back to have them redone, but for us, hiring them was a mistake. read more

If you are in Menomonie, then this is the place to go. We were visiting family and wanted to rent bikes to ride the Red Cedar Trail. We stopped by Friday and the owner Rory helped us with radar related to the rain. Saturday we went back early and were helped with renting GREAT bikes. Our physical needs were matched, trails were reviewed, we tested bikes before leaving the area, he sent along a wrench incase we needed to adjust the seat, and let us rent GREAT GIANT brand bikes and helmets.
