Thank you to manager Troy, who hails from the lovely state of Queensland, Australia, baristas know how to make a coffee (at least that's what I think!). At the bottom of signal hill, it's on the way from a hike, and not too far out of the way if you want to pick a coffee up on the way to work. We sat outside at the deck. It was really nice to sit and watch the people, cars and motorcycles pass by. The sandwiches ar interesting and not oversized or over priced. There is secure WiFi although it seemed to have difficulty reaching the deck. If you walked to Signal Hill you should stop at the Battery Cafe because you'll walk right past it and you deserve it. The Newfoundland sundae with jam and ice cream is worth ordering on a warm day.

I swapped half my roasted vegetable sandwich with my wife who had a turkey with avocado sandwich. They were both very good. One thing was that the bottom of mine was soggy but that happens. The turkey sandwich bun was not at all soggy. We enjoyed our drinks and sitting and watching the people go by. The staff were friendly and helpful. You wait for drinks at the counter but they bring food orders to your table. That's a great way to to it as it doesn't take nearly as long to make drinks as it does food. After arriving, I ventured off the ship on my own and made my way to Water Street for a little shopping. While exploring the area, I came across this charming coffee shop. Esther and Jomana were working behind the counter today, and both were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and warm. I ordered a hot mocha latte, a Portuguese tart, and a Nutella strawberry brioche, all of which were homemade. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The mocha latte was rich and comforting, while the pastries were the perfect sweet treats to enjoy during an afternoon of exploring the city. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ordered and was very happy with my choices. Combined with the excellent service from Esther and Jomana, it made for a wonderful stop during my afternoon in St. John's. The restaurant is on a higher floor and once we were done with our Lunch we explored The Rooms from Top to Bottom. Since Newfoundland (and Labrador) is a maritime province we wisely chose seafood dishes, Seafood Stew for Gayle and Cod Cakes for me. Of course we shared. Washing all that down (besides water) was a wee pint of local ale from me and an Oyster Bay (New Zealand) Chardonnay for Gayle. It was all delicious and with stellar service to match. This dining experience was certainly a great start to our St. John's visit.
