There is a deli in the back and fridges to the right with pre-made meals and hoagies (Wavies). We had seen positive reviews of the pepperoni logs and stopped by. We were promptly greeted and asked if we needed assistance. We indicated not yet, but that we might get a sandwich. We incorrectly believed you could get a variety of sandwiches. More inquiries followed and instead of looking around we were shown what food they had available in the fridge area. We got three pepperoni logs and an italian wavie, which is a whole loaf of Cellone's bread The pepperoni logs were under proofed, under filled, and lacking flavor. We even tried removing some of the bread to see if that improved the roll. Despite our efforts, it unfortunately did not. The accompanying sauce also lacked flavor. Perhaps we had a difference experience than others, because the logs were far from the best pepperoni roll we ever had, even just within town!

The signs in the parking lot adorably said things like, "Donut Lovers Parking Only. Violators will be covered in sprinkles." Inside the store, an employee immediately greeted us, and she patiently waited while we decided what we wanted to buy. The store was small but had enough of a selection to entice us. I saw donuts, turnovers, puffs, brownies, scones, pepperoni rolls, bread loaves, cake pops, gobs, biscotti, several flavors of cookies, cupcakes, and more. The prices were by the half dozen, but we were allowed to choose only one of each item. We bought one ladylock (4 stars), one snickerdoodle cookie (4 stars), one chocolate-chip cookie (4 stars), one apricot cookie (4 stars), one buckeye (5 stars), and one cherry cream horn (4 stars). The total price was about $7.

Whenever I arrived there were people waiting in their cars for the place to open. I took that as a good sign. The bakery itself is small but cozy. It gives you that small town business feel. The ladies that were working were friendly and efficient. They were able to write a message on the cake for me which was great. The cake was very tasty and everyone enjoyed it. They had so many other delicious looking baked goods as well. I'll definitely be back!

Honestly nothing too special, and quite a bit more expensive than at other places in the city and in the area. The frosting was pretty good, pretty rich, but the brownie itself was fairly dry. I asked a couple questions about the menu and was immediately directed to the BLT by a woman in the kitchen. Wow I wasn't disappointed. It was sooooo good. The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! And finally, check out the story about Bittersweet's roots, its commitment to addiction recovery/support, and the owner's son's story/passing. The name "Bittersweet Cafe" will take on a deeper meaning (the news articles can be found in the walls before the counter by the bathrooms). Cheers Bittersweet, thanks for having me, and God bless!

Nice landscaping provides a near perfect setting to enjoy a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a simple red eye. It was delicious. I understand they brew Iron Star coffee out of West Mifflin. The same Iron Star that owns Coffee Tree shops. If this coffee is any indication, I think I need to visit Coffee Tree again. It's been a while. Anyway, I had a really good cup of coffee and a peanut butter and jelly cookie. No complaints on the cookie, but I wish they had some breakfast sweets like scones or cinnamon rolls. Next time I'll try some real food. Just be aware that things are a little pricey here.
