What an unusual place this is. First off, I should let you know that the kids loved it. Mostly because based on the pricing structure of their hard ice cream, I felt like there was a strong incentive to order a shockingly large portion. Especially since those bigger sizes could contain several different flavors. The ice cream itself is fine. It's better than some of the major national brands, but it's not quite up to the level of the super premium stuff. Milkshakes were a particular disappointment since they wouldn't make them with hard ice cream, and insisted only on using soft serve and flavored syrups. No thanks. Sandwiches were also strange, since despite having a deli case, you had to order them based on the options available on pre-printed slips of paper. Yes, there is room for some customization, but it is limited. That was a bummer. It was also a bummer that they were out of bacon for the all day breakfast burritos. Some of the baked goods were wonderful, others not so much. But it was great to be able to pick up some scrapple from the cold case, and I loved that they featured PA made products, including maple syrup in the store. All told, Moo Echo Dairy has its strengths. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop. But I wouldn't make a special trip to visit. Oh yeah, and I also tried the horseradish cheese, and found it to be entirely unremarkable. I'm going to file this away hopefully avoid taking any more cheese recommendations from vegans. read more

I stop by here everytime I'm in town. It's a fun store with a lot of treat options. The sandwiches are pretty good and very reasonable. Think build your own as you select your options on a piece of paper and hand it to the staff. The bread is made in house and quite tasty. The baked goods are fun and come in a variety of sizes from smaller pies and single whoopie pies to traditional sizes and a pack of six. One disappointing thing is there are more preservatives and artificial ingredients than expected for a dairy. Overall, a solid stop while in the area. Give it a shot. read more

First off: none of the workers and about half of the patrons were a mask. This is a Mennonite market that specializes in homemade and local products. These items include breads, desserts, honey, syrup, and ice cream to name a few. There's a quality deli counter and they make hoagies, breakfast burritos, and soup. If you want a homemade ice cream cone while you shop for 8 types of honey and pick-up fresh hamburger buns and maybe an apple pie for dinner, then this is your store. This place probably has the best horseradish cheese on the planet. I am vegan most of the time but sometimes I switch back to vegetarian due to my love of cheese. Lol! So when I stopped in several times last month during my trips to resorts in area I went on a little cheese binge. This place has everything you could ever want. A great selection of food and drinks. My family and I stopped here on the way back to our vacation house from Somerset. We expected great ice cream (which they had), but we also got fantastic hoagies/subs! I got a 6" sub with ham and turkey and cheddar with mayo and everything, and it was really delicious! Also, it was only $4.50. Everything was super fresh, especially the moo echo cheddar! Moo Echo Dairy is one of my favorite places to shop for food items when in Somerset. It is a family owned and run business. The items are fresh and delicious. My children enjoy ordering milk shakes that are made to order right in front of them. In addition to the various food items, there are soaps, and lotions available for purchase. There are also cookbooks. My children ask to come here each time were are in town and I never hesitate to bring them along. read more

This place is an absolute gem in Somerset! I love little markets and I finally got the chance to check this one out. They offer a wide array of candies, spices, snacks, and deli items. Their deli case is full of delicious meats and cheeses at phenomenally low prices -- $4.99/lb for cheeses like garlic, havarti, horseradish, and American? That is positively unheard of in most grocery stores! I walked out of there with a basket full of goodies for the small sum of $22 and have yet to find something from my bounty that isn't delicious! They also offer fresh milk and prepared items like ham salad... the staff is pleasant and helpful, and I can't wait to stop here again! read more

Used to love this place. Stopped by early in the pandemic and saw no precautions whatsoever. Left and hoped it would change over time. One year later still nothing. Staff does not wear masks, which was the main thing I was hoping for. Walked in and right back out. Very sad to have to ditch this business for good even after COVID. read more

Love this place! We went back and got a strawberry-rhubarb pie: YUM! And blueberry-pomegranate ice cream. Who knew such a thing existed? But it was delicious! There were other unusual flavors as well, and tons of pies to choose from. They even have ice cream cakes, which is real chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream on top, and pretty decorations. Moo Echo has the best ice cream in Somerset and the surrounding area! My family in PA gets their ice cream for every family celebration. We tried three flavors for my grandma's 84th birthday over Thanksgiving weekend, and they were all fantastic. We had blueberry, butter pecan, and teaberry - more untraditional flavor. The teaberry tasted just like the wild berries that you can find all through the woods in PA. Check this place out if you ever find yourself in Somerset. It's worth the trip for their ice cream alone, but Moo Echo has so much more than that! Plenty of local goodies to check out. One of my personal favorite are the maple sugar cakes during maple season! read more

Products are good but not a single employee, and half the customers, were wearing masks.

While this place has plenty of quality "looking" products, my visit today was more than disappointing. While businesses in PA are requiring customers and employees to wear face masks because of the Covid-19 pandemic, I was really disappointed to see that one of the food preparers was wearing no mask and two of the customers were not even questioned about not wearing masks. There were 15-20 customers in this business and everyone else in the place had on masks. If this business cares so little about their customer and employee health, I can only imagine that the quality "looks" of the products are about as far as quality goes. read more

I would normally give this place 5 stars as their ice cream is outstanding, but was incredibly disappointed when I stopped by and the sign on the door said face masks now optional, but the staff will be happy to wear one if you want them too. The store was full of people without masks so it would make little difference if you could even get to a staff member to ask them to wear a mask. I will not be returning to this place until they make masks required again. Very sad as I really wanted to buy their ice cream and wearing a mask is so easy to do and has been shown to significantly reduce the spread of COVID-19. read more

This place is amazing! A real dairy with lots of homemade stuff... And Amish made goodies too. We have had their ice cream and milkshakes! The best milkshake I have ever had. We have bought their milk.. So creamy with a rather sweet taste to it. The homemade baked items are delicious! My son loves their donuts. We have bought meat sticks, Amish butter, candy rocks, and granola! Everything has been fantastic and we try and get there at least once every couple weeks when we are in the 7 Springs area. Really cool little dairy on Route 31. This dairy offers all kinds of cool little treats such as Ice Cream, Cheese Curds, Breads, Jellies, and so much more. One thing that's cool about this dairy is that they also make their own Made to Order subs. Overall a great place to stop to grab a snack while on the road. read more

Located on Route 31 they are open 6 days a week and their staff is welcoming and helpful. A great inexpensive stop for ice cream on those warm afternoons......flavors to satisfy the whole family! Very disappointed today. I stopped here as I do at least once a week. I was waiting at the meat counter for five minutes. Just waiting my turn. One girl was making salads one girl was cutting lettuce. So OK someone came up after I had been there waiting to the ice cream counter and the girl making salads told the girl from the back to come out and get ice cream. OK so I was still OK even though I was there first because I didn't know if they saw me but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then from outside came a woman with five kids up to the ice cream counter. In the meantime another girl came from across the shop to the back and the girl that was ringing up at the register holler to her and said hey can you come out and get them ice cream. Now at least three of them saw me. I waited another minute and then I said well I guess nobody wants my business. The girl that was shredding the lettuce she turned around and kind of looked at me but she kept working on the lettuce. So I went to giant eagle and I bought my 6 pounds of meat for my three pasta salad's for the Fourth of July. Most of the girls here are so nice and sweet. There is one girl who is probably the oldest of them maybe around 30, She was the one who is making the salads... she is never friendly you can't get her to smile or even be cordial. My aunt lives about 2 miles from Moo Echo and I always stop in. This place is a little slice of heaven that is operated by a great group of people. The ice cream is the best I have found outside of the Berkey Creamery at Penn State. They have so many great things in the store that it is almost impossible to take it all in and much of it is pretty unique. The prices are great in my opinion and there is such a variety. I absolutely love Moo Echo and highly recommend stopping in! read more
