Stopped by for lunch. Sadly, they stop serving HOT food at 2p. We choose some chicken salad and crackers which was GREAT. Some cake rounded out lunch and we were happy. Baked goods great. From California and we are driving thru Alabama. This fresh home made dishes and dessert are absolutely delicious. The seating area is simple. The restaurant is clean, friendly and again yummy. Driving through and with the hours being 8 AM, thought they would have had breakfast. I memory serves me, I thought that is what the sign says (and one might assume) which faces Huddle House and the highway. No breakfast served at the date we went there. Maybe after Covid they will return to normal business, but for now their website leads you to believe "online ordering, curbside pickup, and contactless pay" only - no in-house dining. So to support a local business anyway, we decided to buy some good. But it seemed like people walking in only bothered the staff as they were preparing food for other orders. Did not receive Southern hospitality. Not sure if going that early in the morning if cake slices that were out were fresh baked or from the night before. I'd have to go with the latter. This place was recommended for lunch on our geocaching expedition to the area. It didn't disappoint. We were there for fish and shrimp day and both of us chose shrimp. They were the best I've had away from the coast. The baked goods we selected were amazing. Key lime cookies and apple cake. The container of spicy pimento cheese made for a great lunch today. We're still not eating indoors so we asked about a nearby park. The cashier immediately gave me landmarks and helped me find Lower Pool picnic area on my map. Stopped as traveling trough demopolis in high hopes to sink my teeth into a yummy fresh apple fritter! Needless to say- I was not disappointed! They had several at the register along with cookies and other baked yummy desserts. I grabbed a fritter and red velvet crinkle cookie to go. Their fritters are so good! Second time to get one and both were filled with fresh apple chucks and cinnamon ~ the best part is they cook them so they have this wonderful "crispy sweet" edge. The soft sweet fruit filled inside and sweet crispy edges make them absolutely fantastic! You gotta stop in and try one!! We stopped for lunch and was pleasantly surprise! They had a wide variety of baked goods. The hot bar didn't have a large variety but everything was seasoned well, hot, fresh and tasted like home cooking! For a sweet we got a fresh baked apple fritter that is one of the beat I've had. Sweet, Crispy on edges with fresh spiced, moist apples inside!! I could have ate my weight in them! Want wait to go back and sample more of their tasty treats! Staff is nice, dining area pleasant with cute county decorations scattered through out. read more

I was skeptical when I saw the hot bar. I wanted something from a traditional menu. I got sausage links, grits and hash browns from the hot bar. The grits were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sausage was great, really good flavors.. and the hash browns had onions in them. Very simple plate, but everything was cooked well. And the treats! We got cinnamon rolls, cake and donuts to go.
