I have always been super wary when finding a hairdresser as I've had previous bad experiences with hairdressers not knowing how to cut asian hair or charging me extra when I got to the salon because my hair is extra long. Christina was able to make a last minute appointment for me (night before) which I really appreciated! She told me honestly about the amount she felt that I needed to cut off to get rid of the unhealthy bits and gave me a beautiful blow dry! I attached a before and after! Another thing I was worried about was the amount of time my wavy, bouncy curls blow dry would hold as I have only ever had one successful one that was able to last me the whole day. I attached a picture of how my hair looked by the end of the day. As you can see the curls unfortunately didn't hold but when I sent the picture to Christina she was very very helpful in telling me other things to try so that it would hold in the future. Definitely recommend her and will be going back! I have had the worst luck with stylists lately. After losing one stylist during Spring of 2016, I struggled to find another. After several botched cuts and colors, I landed at a high-end salon with a new stylist I loved. But last week that salon called me to say my beloved new stylist was no longer working for them. G R E A T. :-/ Not sure what to do next, I called my best friend to vent. And that's when she reminded me about her amazing stylist: Christina Jones at Simply Glamour. I had nothing to lose, so I set up an appointment using the Vagaro app (so convenient!) for the following Saturday. I arrived right on time and found Christina waiting for me at the downstairs check-in desk. The receptionist offered me tea or coffee and then we headed upstairs. Christina reviewed my hair and asked lots of great questions about what I wanted and needed. She had a couple of ideas right off the bat to help me improve on my current style. Then it was off to shampoo. The scalp massage was super relaxing. We went back to her chair for the cut. Christina worked quickly and gave me pointers throughout on how to style at home. All-in my appointment took less than an hour. I wasn't sure what my bill would be, especially since I decided to buy products, but I was so pleased with the appointment that I had decided it was worth whatever she charged. So I had to ask Christina to repeat the amount twice because the number I heard was under $100. Yep, under $100 for a wash, cut, style, AND product. In the end, my bestie was right (yet again). I started seeing Christina when she worked at another salon before going independent. I think it was in April of 2016. I had been dyeing my hair with dark box dyes trying to cover up previous dye jobs I had also done myself at home with crazy colors by Pravana. My hair was a disaster. It was so awful. But I had a mission. I wanted my dark brown/black/red hair to go blue. So I did research online to find stylists who were good at non-traditional colors and came across Christina. I went in for a color consult before my actual appointment date so that she could test strand my hair and also prepare for the battle ahead. People told me that even going blonde would be a multi-appointment process and that there was no way I could go from the color I had to blue in a day. That my hair would fall off my head, etc. But Christina did it. She made my hair turn from the most disgusting brown-red to a beautiful blue. (I will edit and update this later with photos.) Her work was so incredible, she immediately became my stylist after years of wandering around without one. I continued to see her at the salon she was working at but she made a move to go independent and relocate to Farwell Ave. where she is now. When I first came to Christina, I had abused bleached hair from a previous stylist who I sadly allowed to fry my hair in an attempt to go to some fun shade of blonde with other colors in it after multiple visits. I was looking for an edgy stylist who not only had a great reputation (or high yelp rating), but also one who could deal with dyeing Asian hair as I would eventually want to dye my hair again. A rating from another Asian sister (when Christina used to work at Get Dolled Up) swayed me to see her as she'd gotten this client from dark Asian hair to platinum-ish blonde with a very satisfied review. At the time I saw Christina I wanted to give my hair a rest and was going back to black with a cut to chop off that dead hair so I haven't gone there yet, but I remember I wanted a stark black because I was feeling emo-ish. Christina made a recommendation to go more natural which turned out much kinder to my skin complexion. Lol. And I also loved my cut. Since then Christina became my stylist and she's kept my hair looking fashionably cut since my first go (though I can't replicate her styling, I try). I not only like her for her skills, her professional feedback when I bring in ideas for cut and color, and talent, but because she is personable. I've been to a lot of hair stylists in Milwaukee and I have come to realize people who really care are people who will give beyond the expected service I went in for. Half the time I didn't return to a stylist was not only because I got a bad haircut or color, but because I left their chair feeling like I had just been another cut/another dollar for the day - even if the cut was done well and all. I'm not saying a stylist needs to cater to me and kiss butt to keep me as a client, but as I am also in a customer servicing industry, I believe it's important to have some kind of rapport with/from/to the people who serve you/you serve. I guess I could have stayed with the stylist who didn't care to speak to me, but still gave me a great haircut, but I want to like the person who takes care of my hair because getting your hair done is quite personal after all! :) Anyways, I could say a lot more, but if you are still reading this then you should definitely give her a try and if for some reason she's not a good fit for you, you'll at least have met a cool person. :) read more

I started looking for salons online & decided to try Christina's services. I came to her for help because my hair was trashed!!! I had been trying to bleach it myself to save money but just made it unhealthy in the process. We had a consultation than she dyed it to fix allllllllll the different tones I had in my hair, an opalex treatment to keep it healthy, and a cut for some style and to get rid of dead ends. Hello everyone, I would like to share with you all my first experience EVER going to a hair salon. I recieved very POOR service and a hairstyle that was NOT to my liking at all. When I went to my appointment at simply glamour, I showed Christina a photo of the hairstyle that I wanted and she told me since my hair is boxed colored the hair style won't be as light as I desired but a tad bit darker. She insisted that no other hair stylist could do the hair style I wanted so we proceeded. The thing is, I didn't know at the time the style I wanted was called a Balage so Christina decided to charge me $250 when the price is actually $173 online. Christina switched her prices on me, everything on the website has a set price, where do you see $80 per hour!? Christina didn't care to put any effort doing my hair. When you get your hair bleached your supposed to tease your hair. Christina DID NOT do that, she was so lazy she was using a hairdryer to separate the hairs! She even told me "your the first person I'm doing this new technique on". When she finsihed bleaching my hair, she dissapeared for 20 minutes and I'm freaking out because the bleach has been on my hair for an hour and 25 minutes. Bleach is only suppose to be on your hair for 45 minutes!! Finally she came back to wash it and put the toners in. This lady Christina mixed 2 toners together and left it in for only 10 MINUTES!!!! Toner is supposed to be left in for 30- 40 minutes!!! She was being so careless and rushing the process because she had another appointment soon. She had a shade on her mirror that keeps you from seeing the hair style until its finished. When she let the shade up, my heart broke into pieces. My hair is ashed out, grey, yellow, it was horrible!!!! I was not satisfied at all and Christina did not care to give me a discount or anything. She kept insisting the style was similar to the one I wanted. My hair looks NOTHING like what I wanted. She demanded the $250, not even a receipt was given to me. She played me out of my money, charging me a price that was made up. When I left the salon, I went to my friend who is a stylist and she was horrified looking at my hair. She wanted to know every detail Christina did and asked me if her license is expired. My friend is the one who told me what I wanted was a Balage. This lady ruined my hair using high volume developer and UNPROFESSIONAL products. Also didn't even care to give me any information on the products she used on my hair. I want to report her, she is very unprofessional and sloppy. I don't know what to do..My hair is so precious and I put it in the hands of a stranger who claimed they were a professional.. Christina of Simply Glamour is a top level colorist with talent and dedication. I would recommend her to anyone for any type of color job. I had a series of bad color problems. First a stylist made my hair bright orange instead of blonde, I waited til it faded to yellow blonde and I tried an at home color kit in pink, but my hair went back to orange with just blotches of pink. I had one day to fix it before leaving for a trip. I used the number from Simply Glamour's Yelp page, left a message, and within 15 minutes I spoke with Christina. I told her my problem. She almost didn't have time for me, but after moving around her personal errands, she called back and said it was a go. Finding the salon was easy. (Bring quarters if you park on the street.) Christina was by the door ready to meet me. Introduced herself and got to work. There was a lot of different things going on with my hair. And I didn't want to over process it because of how the last hairdresser had fried my hair. Christina recommended a nourishing treatment along with the bleach process. During the process she kept a close eye on the progress and made sure that it bleached out as evenly as possible. I had professional and non professional color in my hair, which fades at different rates. She was able to manage the process so that it all came out to where it needed to be. Before she applied the new color I inquired about adding another bit of color to give depth. To go along with the bright pink we discussed, we choose purple. She did an amazing job helping to choose the right colors. At the end of the appointment she unveiled her work and it truly was better than I could imagine for myself. I am very happy. And can't wait to see her again in the future. The building she is in is cool too. It's a very large old home converted into a labyrinth of hair stylists with unique details and well designed track lighting. I enjoyed her chair because it is semi private and it looks out so you can see a myriad of other people getting their hair worked on. She is really easy going and fun to be around. She really knows about color and processing. And working with her was easy. Considering how stressed I was when I first called her to how I feel now- awarding a perfect score of 5 stars is more than earned!! Color correction is $80/hr. This is a reasonable rate for a master colorist. My process took a long time. I spent a little more than double of my last epically failed color, but it was worth it. I also bought shampoo and conditioner plus heat protection to keep my color from fading as long as possible. read more

I have been going to Christina for 3 years now. She had done multiple techniques on me; bayalage, tortoise shell, babylights and they have all turned out amazing. There was even a time I was being picky about a piece that I thought was too blonde and she fixed it the next day for free. Before she does your hair she talks about what you want done and really LISTENS AND CARES!!! She is the best in the city at bayalage and I would not trust anyone else to lighten or it color it. I booked for Balayage but changed my mind and wanted to try Oil Slick and she was able to accommodate my request (Oil Slick takes more time and requires special colors). She was super patient and took a lot of time on my hair (she also gives the best shampoo massages!). I really felt as though she wanted my hair to look the very best and wasn't rushing to finish. I found Christina Jones through Yelp at another business- Get Dolled Up. They got awesome reviews, close to my house, and could get me in the next day! So why not! I saw her twice at that location and both times, I had THE BEST cut! Never once did I wait for it to grow out to say I liked it (yes ladies, you know what I mean). So when Christina started her NEW business at Simply Glamour- I could NOT have been happier for her. And bonus! She closer to my work!
