I paid $8K for Simply Matchmaking. They definitely don't have "luxury" or "high end" database of matches like they claim. Their matches were average or below average caliber (I found better prospects myself on a free dating app). Simply will take your money and not be held accountable to produce any results whatsoever. Then once their matches fail, they blame you (as their client) as an easy cop out for themselves. This was a total let down of an experience. 2 years ago I had a video consultation, and one of the things I said that I was skeptical about was that the online ratings were kind of low, especially since I was told the cost would be $10,000. First, even though I could comfortably afford that, it seems extremely high compared to others that have listed the cost they were quoted and paid in their reviews, $500 - $2500 (I wonder what colored Ali's decision to charge me that much). Fast forward a couple years, I just happened to come across their Google reviews and I see they are very noticeably higher. The funny coincidence I noticed was that 16 out of their 28 (57%) 5-star reviews were all posted...dramatic pause...2 years ago. 16 out of 28, huh, funny how that timing happened. I joined Simply Matchmaking's database (their base service) back in June 2021 because I was tired of the online dating scene that I had been doing for years. They were clear and upfront about what to expect, which I appreciated. I've dated 2 men since then. In September of 2021 they set me up with someone who was an incredibly kind person, but ended up not being my type. Then, in September 2023 they set me up with a second person and it's going incredibly well. I love this service because, even if they only set you up with one person every couple of years, that person is someone that's already aligned with what you're looking for long term. Additionally, they set up the first date for you, based on you and your date's availability. You won't know anything about each other (except their first name) and won't know what they look like until you both show up at the restaurant and get escorted to the same table. None of their marketing seems real as they use these quotes that are just too "fairytale" "Disney movie" type. Women pay a lower rate but since they don't have to guarantee anything for us (literally 0 dates), we're steadily joining and keeping the lights on. Even more apparent with their recent Eastside office opening. Men pay a premium but get a set amount of dates guaranteed. Whatever life stage you're in, don't waste your money here. Based on the recent comments from Simply Matchmaking, I am downgrading my rating to a 1 star. First of all, it is disrespectful of mine and my ex's privacy that they would choose to share details of our relationship publicly online. That they are trying to frame this a "success story" is amusing should actually be very telling about the quality of service they offer. One of the points on which my ex and I did bond was in our disdain for this service as we were both very underwhelmed with the process. I find it interesting that Ali says my review should be taken with a grain of salt. Regarding membership freezes, here are excerpts from our actual email exchange regarding a membership freeze: Ali: "So sorry to hear about the funeral, we are all passes along our best wishes to you during this hard time! We are confirming we have placed your membership on freeze. As a friendly reminder, you can freeze your membership as long as you need to and as many times as you like throughout the one year membership. Your 12 month membership is good through 6/2/17." Me: "I am confused as to how, if my membership is on hold, it would still end on 6/2/17. If I freeze my membership for six months and it still expires in June of next year, than that effectively means I wasted $1,250 on this service. Am I understanding that correctly?" Ali: "Your membership is good from June 2, 2016 - June 2, 2017. So, if you contact us anytime prior to the end date of your membership on 6-2-17 wanting to meet more matches through Simply Matchmaking, we would be able to continue doing so. If 6-2-17 passes and we do not hear from you, then your membership would come to an end since that is the end date of your one year membership. You can stay on freeze for another day, another week, another month, or for as many months as you like between now and 6-2-17." So, that pretty much contradicts Ali's statement that freeze time does get added to your membership... even if you left for a funeral. In any event they are right... I did find love... for free... on Tinder. We've been going strong for a year and a half. I would highly recommend any of you do the same and avoid this colossal waste of time and money. read more

He spent a good amount of time asking me very in depth questions about my lifestyle, values, likes, dislikes etc. He seemed to really care about the quality of matches and matching quality over quantity. In one of your emails to me you said, "We offer our female members to work with us by simply joining our database for that one-time membership fee." It doesn't clearly come across at first the degree to which we're just sitting potential matches among thousands of other women for your "members." I joined because several friends and I decided to commit to finding love in 2019. After I handed over the cash, I got no communication, minimal care, and horrible dates. It's just an expensive sales pitch with a poor product. She'll ask for permission to provide coaching or advice and then follow up with substantive, meaningful feedback. I have only been with this service a short while, but I have already given up hope that they have a match for me. I paid for the lowest level of service, which has a guaranteed match rate of zero for the year. So when they matched me with someone within the first week, I was really excited! Alas, I would have rather gone the whole year without a single match than be insulted with whom they did match me. My match was lacking personality, shorter than my average height, obese, unattractively balding, and in possession of appalling manners (he didn't even stand up to greet me when I arrived - on time). Sorry, not for me. I fired Simply Matchmaking with about a month left on my membership. My experience is clearly different from those of other folks. I met a lot of nice people, maybe even connected a couple of times. But for some reason Ali and company were just not listening to me at all. I had some pretty solid "no thank you" preferences that they asked me about and I swear wrote down. The final straw for me was when they set me up with a nice person, but that person was (yet again, 2nd time) on that solid "no thanks" list. I'm being incredibly vague, I know. I don't want to offend any of my dates, none of them did anything wrong. :) The other thing that really bugged me was when I did give feedback on some dates, I'd get replies the gist of which were "no, no, you'd like them if you gave them a chance." I'm an adult, divorced, been on many dates. I know what works for me and what doesn't. I really do feel like I wasted a great deal of money and time with SM. Your mileage may vary, but obviously I ran out of gas pretty quick. Also, when I signed up (Feb 2016) their published pricing scheme was rather deceptive and it looks like it still is. What they won't tell you until you're in the office is that the lowest tier price level isn't available to you unless you're a single woman between the ages of X and Y. -- I don't remember what those ages are, just that it was rather young. For my interview, they asked me to be completely honest - that they would not judge. During my interview there were several times that I felt judged. I was set up on one date by them. I was told when I joined Simply Matchmaking that I would only be matched with a man whom they felt would suit me. No guarantees of a match but that there were a lot of men on their books in my age range. I am an educated professional woman in my 50's and have a wide variety of interests. I look and act young for my age and I felt I had a chance to meet other professional or non professional men. Especially since Seattle area is full of single tech men for example. After several months into my one year membership I asked if there was anyone at all for me and was told they only matched me with someone who was a perfect match or not at all. A while later I was matched with a guy who had nothing in common with me and was a complete mismatch. When I asked the company why they put me with such a mismatch I was told that they thought they would try someone totally not a match for a change. Dah!!! They also let it slip that he had been on their books for a long time and they better give him a match. How is that for logic! That was my one and only match for the year. Never heard from them at all until I emailed to ask why I was so unmatchable. The reply was just one long ridiculous excuse. At the end of my year I voiced my disappointment in their company, and to appease me, I was kindly given the offer for them to keep me on their books indefinitely to be matched at no extra cost. There are times when I have been to a restaurant or place, and think the world of it, and the opposite scenario, but never have I been in a situation where I think it is important that prospective customers understand my experience so they can gauge whether this service/program is fit for them. I signed up originally having had a lamenting conversation with my girlfriends about how busy life is, and how sometimes when we try to date online, but we often only end up selecting a type of men and overlooking others. We talked about whether programs who set dates up for you, might have a better success rate.. That was the beginning of my curiosity to reach out to such a program. After a number of dates, I have concluded that the program is not a good fit. Out of my ~120 reviews (as of 4/4/17) and my over ~7 years on Yelp this is THE ONLY 1-star review I have written. Based on the price of this service ($2500 for 6 dates) and the results I received I cannot recommend Simply Matchmaking. In quick summary I joined Simply Matchmaking in ~August 2016. I received 5 dates between August 2016 and April of 2017 before I terminated the service. The 5 first dates which were about 3-4 months apart each led to zero second dates, which is much worse than I've done on online dating services. 3 of 5 of my matches had instant deal breakers that Ali either knew about or should have known about through our initial interview. 2 included body type preference mismatches (communicated during the interview) and 1 included someone with a strict voluntary diet restriction incompatible with my lifestyle (I was never asked about diet issues during the initial interview or before the date was scheduled, which you think would be something worth asking about). Only 1 of my matches ever met all 3 of my MUST HAVES (as Ali refers to them) that I laid out in my initial interview. Ali and company routinely sent me on dates with people that I simply did not have anything important in common with and/or that I said I would not find attractive. Not only were these a waste of my time, but a waste for my matches too (not to say that I met their requirements either, but I wouldn't know that and it seemed like I didn't multiple times). Ali would also dodge/ignore questions at times when I asked to confirm presence of my MUST HAVE traits. For example before my 2nd date I asked Ali (paraphrasing), "does she have x and y?", Ali replied with (paraphrasing) "she definitely has x" and would not mention the lack of trait y. Remember these dates are essentially $416 each not including the cost of the date itself. I think for that kind of money all my dates should meet all my preferences and if my preferences were unreasonable or unrealistic Ali should addressed that before taking payment. Also I found 3 of 5 of my matches post date currently active on online dating websites anyways. They seem to be still active as of the time this review was written. As of 4/4/17 I've asked Ali to terminate my service and reimburse me for my 6th and final match since I feel it would be as inappropriate of a match as the ones that came before. She denied my request stating the non-refundable clause in the contract, which is fine, but in other review responses left here she has also reimbursed members for their remaining matches. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to work with an actual matchmaker as opposed to filling out a questionnaire for some online dating site and leafing through profiles. Ali, their chief matchmaker, seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me and what I was looking for in a relationship. She has been very enjoyable to work with, always being available for questions or postdate feedback. As for the dates themselves, I have been on two so far and I've been extremely happy with both of them. These were smart, beautiful, successful women, and thanks to the initial consultation we actually had a lot in common. You're told by Ali that you only need to stay for one drink, but each time we hit it off so well that we both decided to stay much longer. In light of a few upcoming local service voting such as the evening's The Best of Western Washington, I'm sharing my experience so you have something to use as a reference if you're deciding whether to sign up the service. I purchased a membership and ended without satisfactory matches. Unlike some online dating sites where you can view the available matches, you will be given dates whom Ali's team believes are good matches to you. The matches will only be as good as the execution of the match criteria you provided to them, and the number of dates that are currently available in the service that match your criteria. The first session called discovery session was free and was the time where I got a chance to meet Ali in person to understand package and pricing. Once I signed up, I needed to pay the full amount on the spot and was given a questionnaire to fill out my personal details and match criteria. The questionnaire wasn't as sophisticated as some of the ones I find on some online dating sites where they'd ask a wide range of questions to determine your personal attributes in various dimensions. After all, my discovery session was only about an hour long in total, which included service introduction, my feeling is it would be unlikely to capture my personality and what I'm really looking for in such a short time. You will be upset if you try to lay out the perfect match you're looking for as you will likely be told by Ali or her team that it is impossible to find such match. I also wouldn't suggest new members to expect your first or second date will meet the criteria you laid out in the discovery session. You are asked to provide feedback to Ali on each date and her team is expected to use the feedback to fine tune your next match. One downside of this process is that if you're on a quota package, you would loose a few valuable date quotas because of the fine tuning process. Another variable in the equation is how well the execution is when applying your feedback to your next date. The ideal situation is your next date will better fit to your pre-defined criteria than the previous date. Like Ed M. said, your mileage varies and I think this is where the variance of the service lies. The experience I had was my good feedback didn't change the outcome of all my next date in measurable ways. It seems to me the execution depends on two main factors: 1) the ability to listen to feedback and do whatever one can to improve the next outcome for the client, 2) the ability to find a better match in the existing pool of members. I'm sure Ali's team has achieved 1); otherwise there wouldn't be 5 stars on this page. For other less-than-stellar reviews or those singles who did not have a chance to share their reviews, 2) could very well play a role. You will not know how many members are currently available in a dating service. The numbers can be high or it can be low. Will the service be able to scale to accommodate a large number of members you think will satisfy your criteria? You will need to think about these factors in when you decide whether you should sign up the service or not especially if you are deciding on packages that are at a higher price point. I saw Ali's feedback on Ed's comment about the pricing tiers. To be fair to Ed, I also experienced the same situation Ed did. I was interested in the basic tier membership but was told in the discovery session that the lowest tier was only for single women, not for single men.
