When I say that she had deodorant sticks, I was very excited. I bought the Rose, Lemon and Ginger (I think) and I love it! When I buy other deodorants, even the "prescription strength", I have to reapply half way through my day. With my Bodhi Basics deodorant, I can go all day without reapplying! I love the wide variety of products she offers. My boyfriend bought a bar and balm to care for his beard and we got hand soap for the kitchen with poppy seeds in it that feels so good for exfoliating my hands. All of her products have been phenomenal, but my absolute favorite is what everyone else is talking about too- the deodorant. I have tried numerous brands including homemade products and ones sold at health food stores...but never have I found one that's this effective while smelling so amazing! Located in a lovely, old brick building in Tampa Heights, not too far from Armature Works, EKOS Salon seemed to be a convenient spot to the downtown Tampa area where I live. There is a private parking lot behind the building plus street parking which makes it easy to access and convenient for times I need to take my car. Elizabeth greeted me as soon as I arrived and got everything ready for my appointment. I really appreciate the mission of this business that specializes in organic, fume- and chemical-free products that are not tested on animals. Even the way the services are administered contribute to creating a much smaller carbon footprint than most salons. I soaked my feet in a large tub of warm, sudsy water. Nothing high tech about that. Even the chair was low tech. I enjoyed the comfy cushioned rocking chair and did not miss messing with electronic massage controls that some salons use to pamper patrons but, honestly, seem to be more punishing than pampering. Either the motion administered at the touch of the button doesn't quite find the sweet spots on my back, neck or shoulders or the intensity is just too much or barely there. I was fine without the mechanics back rub and didn't miss it a bit. Instead, the entire experience was very relaxing and the results were definitely stunning. There is one table for manicures and one chair for pedicures so appointments are highly recommended. There is also a hair stylist who shares the space but that will have to be checked out on another visit. This type of salon experience may not appeal to everyone but for me it was a wonderful alternative to places I have tried where I have had to wait for up to 20 minutes even with an appointment, have had a rushed and not-so-thorough nail treatment or even endured a bit of discomfort either from having my feet roughly handled or an over enthusiastic person getting a little too careless with my cuticles. Great service, great environmental practices and great to see such a gem of a business housed in a historical building and genuinely feel like a great fit for the neighborhood.
