I went out on the grounds to look at the plot as our mother is already buried in a plot next to our father's. I couldn't locate it so I called Ms. Porter for assistance. She dove out to meet me, showed me where the plots were and even cleaned up our mother's burial plaque. She really went all out to help. She is wonderful!

During our dad's last few days in the funeral home, we reached out to step to see what services they can provide in packages they had to offer. Charmaine was excellent as she explained all the options available. Since some of the family members were limited and the time they had to stay, we needed the funeral to be within a few days of dad's passing. The funeral and viewing would be a morning experience with one hour for the family and 30 minutes for the visitors. Then we drive out to the cemetery for a grief side interment. During our planning session with Steph funeral home, we selected the vault casket, and insert. Charmaine called the cemetery and arranged for the internment. They showed us the options for prayer cards. They were also able to provide a minister for the funeral three days later. When we arrived the day of the funeral, we were absolutely amazed as to the superb job they did in preparing dad. After the family visitation a few family friends stop by and after visiting with them for a bit, the service was ready to start. The Pastor began by welcoming , family and friends and announcing each part of the service. Music was pre-recorded and played by the funeral home staff. After the service, we've gathered briefly outside for family pictures and headed out to the cemetery in a second car processional. The entertainment was simple, we watched them places casket in the vault in the vault into the ground. The staff was holding our fresh cut flowers we had at the funeral home for us to put some on top of the vault. For us, it was a very, very good experience. If you need to bury a loved on, I recommend you check them out.

Although I travel the service drive often, I don't see any business traffic for this funeral home because the entrance and parking lot are in the back of the building away from the service drive. Haley was the provider for services for my dear neighbor recently. For his viewing at the funeral home, the Haley staff members greeted us upon entering and directed us to the correct parlor. The beautiful parlor was full of family members and well wishers. The video playing with various photos of my neighbor with his family and acquaintances was a nice touch. Outside of the parlor was a memorial display for veterans that have transitioned or never returned. It caught my attention and it was a great reminder of those who have served our country. I do recommend that the tablecloth be ironed to provide a better visual.

Instead, what we received from this funeral home and from funeral director **Stephen Kemp Jr.** was carelessness, disregard, and a level of disrespect that left our family deeply hurt. We arranged for my brother's cremation and a memorial service scheduled for **July 18th**. Mr. Kemp was responsible for ensuring that my brother received his **military honors**, a **personalized VA urn**, and a **flag**--all standard for veterans. **None of these were provided. Not one.** After the service, I called repeatedly. My messages were ignored. At one point, I was placed on hold for **20 minutes**, and no one ever picked up. When I called back, Tracy told me someone would return my call. Eventually, Mr. Kemp responded and claimed he had the date down as **July 22nd**--a date that was never discussed and had no connection to anything we planned. When I went to pick up my brother's ashes, Mr. Kemp told me that if I wanted my brother's honors, I could "go to a veteran cemetery and have the honors done there." **I was shocked and devastated.** After everything my brother gave to this country, this was the solution offered to us? They had asked for my brother's photo for the personalized urn, and I provided it immediately. To discover that not only was the urn not prepared, but every promised honor was ignored--it felt like the ball wasn't just dropped, it was shattered. Mr. Kemp then suggested that *I* go to a veterans cemetery on my own to fix *his* mistake. When I returned to pick up my brother's ashes, he apologized, handed me a flag, and said the certificate and honors would be handled "through the mail." **To say I was emotionally traumatized by his lack of empathy is an understatement.** It felt that the respect due to a veteran depended on how much money was spent. I paid for services that were never provided. I trusted this funeral home to honor my brother, and instead we were left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and painfully aware that the level of care we received seemed tied to the price tag--not to my brother's service or his sacrifice.

From our very first meeting, she demonstrated the highest levels of care, concern, and empathy. She was patient, informative, and incredibly compassionate as we discussed plans that no family ever really wants to have to make. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed just weeks later. What had been pre-planning quickly turned into immediate need. During that tragic and emotional time, Rita was with me every step of the way. She made sure everything was handled with dignity and respect, and she provided steady guidance when I needed it most. Her presence alone brought a sense of calm during such a painful experience.
