I went in after my mom passed in September of 2025. Picked out a design and paid for it . I got an email in October to finalize the design so they could get started. I told them I wanted to make changes and they said that was ok. Sent them the final design oct 16. Extra $200 charge no big deal. Over the course of the next FIVE MONTHS I called and emailed several times to find out the status. Most of the emails were never answered. I called about four months into it and she said it was "sitting in the back" ready to be done? I said well any estimates on time? Well we will let you know. Gotta wait for the snow to melt so we can find the grave. At this point it's not done anyway. They told me 6-8 weeks approx but ok. One of the emails I sent I said I finalized it in October hoping for it to go in before the holidays so I could decorate it for my mom. That was really important to me but they didn't respond to that. It's now APRIL 2026 . After several emails I called again. Tom tries to gaslight me by saying he had it "laid out" and I changed it. I did not give a go ahead to do the first design and that stone was never started. If they did they shouldn't have because it wasn't approved. that was FIVE months prior to now anyway. I said you didn't start it because when you sent the proposed design I changed it before anything was finalized. He tells me " IM SPEAKING OVER HIM" . I'm clearly upset . It's Easter and I wanted to put flowers down if possible. A birthday has passed and Christmas. These people do not care. He hung up on me 3 times. Extremely extremely disrespectful to a grieving family. DO NOT deal with them. read more

I ordered a cemetary marker in November 2025. I understand that it could not be installed because of the upcoming winter. Now it is the beginning of May and it still has not been delivered to the cemetary. I was told it was because (they have not gone out that way and the price of gas was high) although back in April when the cemetery was receiving shipments the gas had not increased yet. I have asked to be sent a photo of the marker several times and have yet to receive one. I am beginning to believe it has not yet even been carved. Now I am being told it will be delivered before Memorial Day. read more

Shame on the city of Romulus for recommending this company! I do not know if there is a back door deal with the Romulus City Clerks office to refer Woodruff's but the reason they refer them certainly isn't based on service, price or professionalism given my experience. BUYER BEWARE! My mother passed in March and I contacted Woodruffs. The lady I spoke to took my credit card information and told me the existing monument could not be engraved with the date of death until June because it needs to be a certain temperature, (no problem). I noticed my card was not charged and assumed it would be charged when the work was done. I called back mid-June to see if it was engraved and they could not find any record of my paperwork, but with some digging, Mike found my information including credit card information from March. I was informed the lady who helped me in March was no longer with the company. Mike was very helpful and responsive. They got things figured out in July and charged $300.00 to my credit card (No problem). August 5th, I received an email from Mike saying the stone should be engraved in 2-3 weeks and he was 99.9% sure it would be done in August. At the end of August, I called to make sure it was done before I went to the grave site to take a picture of it, at which time I was told Mike no longer worked for the company. I asked to speak to Tom the owner, since Mike was not given an email and was using Tom's email address. When Tom got on the phone, he told me his son would go out to the grave that day and make a stencil (I was told the stencil was already done). I left 2 messages for Tom to see if he had a rough Idea when it would be finished. Neither of the messages were returned. When I called a back a 3rd time I made contact with Tom and he told me that they were busy and that he had no idea when it would be done and that he would just give me my money back so I can start over with another company. When I told him I am going to ask the city of Romulus to not refer Woodruff's Monuments he started cursing at me and told me he would shove my head up my ass (A real class act). In all fairness I should mention, they did send me back my money in a timely fashion. I went to Wietechas Monument Company in Southfield and they were less money, professional and timely. read more

Tom Jr. and Tom Sr. we're great to work with during the very difficult time after my wife passed away. The price I paid was reasonable for what I was requesting and the headstone/monument turned out absolutely beautiful. It's even better than I imagined it would be. And everyone at DSD was very helpful and courteous throughout the entire process. I would recommend DSD to anyone in need to a stone monument. If I could give a zero i would!!! This company won't return my family's calls. They paid in full for a headstone over two months ago. never even received a rough draft of what the headstone is going to look like. My family just wants a headstone, and peace. I wouldn't at all recommend this company!!! read more
