They also have a summer calendar of daily activities like Lego and snack bar and gaming. There are gaming areas with twenty minute check-in sessions and 3D printers, embroidery machines and more. Parents and children can engage in all types of activities. Training videos are online and available for users to view at home and librarians are very helpful with patrons who might need assistance. Definitely should be on the list for summer fun.

I really appreciate that because our trip to the library is usually hurried and we need to find good books fast. The librarians always help us find the books we are looking for. Don't miss out on their app, Cloud Library, that lets you borrow e-books and audio books. We use the self-checkout every time and it's really fast and easy. You can even scan your library card barcode on the library app. The library also has a number of private rooms you can borrow.

That said, I REALLY enjoy the Roanoke Library. My wife and I moved to Roanoke in July 2011, and I kind of stumbled across this little gem. Here's a summary: - It's small. Cozy, but not too small - every time I go, there's only one or two patrons in the whole place. - Free Wifi. A lot quieter to study/work here than Starbucks. - They carry fairly new items (in my category of interests, anyway). I managed to secure the Steve Jobs biography on hold, within a few weeks of publication. Beats spending the money on Kindle. - A part of the TexShare program, which allows me to borrow books from other libraries after being a local cardholder for 6 months. - Good movie selection, and blu-rays. Current stuff, stuff I would think would be "too new" for the library. Also, the week-long policy for movies is a plus. - Decent online holding and renewal system. I can check out a book for 2 weeks, but renew it up to 5 times online. Wow! That's cool. All in all, this childhood place of memory has re-entered my list of favorite places - good resources, friendly staff, and a quiet environment.

This is a very comfortable library now and a strong library system for such a small little community.

Got it. They even have a wall dedicated to job hunters, with flyers showing you local businesses who are hiring. But it is not just books, they have the STRANGEST collection of things you can check out. For example, bongos. Yes bongos. Also metal detectors and sewing machines. New to the area and would like to meet people and learn to play mahjong? I believe that is on Thursdays. This is also where I come to perform my civic duty and vote on all things from school boards to presidents. Libraries are an important community resource and their value is immeasurable. They are the original search engines. An entre building offering knowledge, entertainment, and resources. You can do a great service to your community just by signing up for a library card.

It's been awhile since my last review of the SE Library, so it's time to update my review. But,…read moreagain, full disclosure, as it's a library, it gets five stars. Unless, the employees are mean, all libraries get five stars. So, with that understanding, on to the review! The building, inside and out, is nice, but it is definitely small, when compared to most other area library at least. The downside to the size of this library is that it is hard to find a spot to actually read because this is a rather popular library. Realistically though, you can just take your books home, if there really is not a place to sit and read. But, if you're looking to study, you may want to call ahead to see if they have some kind of study space available or to at least get a feeling for how busy they are that day. And, speaking of studying, this library also has computer stations available. You have to sign up, but it's a pretty quick process. And, along with the size comes a reduced selection as the book selection is not extensive. But, you do not have to worry about wasting your time looking for a particular book because they have an online catalog. However, they do have a rather extensive collection of DVDs, with a few Blu-Rays thrown in as well. Again, if you're looking for something specific, you should call ahead or check out their online catalog. The children's section is separated from the rest of the library, and it even has its own separate computer stations available, just for the kids. I appreciate this type of firewall because it keeps the kids out of my area. And, the staff there is always watching, so you can feel safe taking your kids here. As for the staff, they are warm and courteous. If you need help, they will do whatever they can to make sure you get what you need. And, of course, as with any library, they have community boards (near the front doors) that advertise groups, story times, community events, and the like. It's a quick way to get the rundown on what's going on in our community, and some of the groups are interesting. All in all, I recommend this library if you're in the area. Of course, if you're not, check out YOUR local library. I'm sure it's cool too.

I love the library. Now onto specifics, this library is tucked away off Greek Oaks, near the dog park and animal center, and has plenty of parking, though on a busy day you might find yourself parked off onto the side. I signed up for a card here, and found the process painless thanks to the friendliness of the staff here. I've also had trouble locating books and again immediately received assistance from the awesome staff. Computers/ work stations/ tables can get crowded, so if you're here to study, you might need to take the walk around a few times to get your ideal spot, and while doing so perhaps pick up a presidential auto-biography...wait, that was me...maybe I also picked up a YA novel. They offer a self checkout, which is quick and easy. and also they have a small coffee machine, it costs a dollar, but hey, perfect study fuel. Computers also offered, and also a children's section of the library. Friendly staff and books/ media galore? Yes please! Great place.

I…read moretransferred from this school after last spring (currently attending a different one), but I wanted to be transparent about my experience I had here. Even though applications are probably overdue, you never know who might need to hear this information. I find it quite disappointing that there aren't reviews from people who don't look or act like a majority of the main people around campus. While going here, I would have to say it was quite depressing. I did have a single room in Teeter, but I still hardly got to know any of the girls on my floor besides my suitemate (who was a senior) and my RA. Nobody really talked to me. Just like any other school (especially Evangel University), if you don't look or act a certain way (preferably white, pretty, and outgoing), you were treated like you didn't exist or like someone like you has never been seen before. Unfortunately, this generation bases a lot of their views from social media so it must have been surprising to see someone like me not act how they thought I would. The dating culture was also the same. There weren't a lot of couples while I was going here but you also were not pursued if you did not look like me. I bring up my appearance a lot because there were hardly any girls who looked like me going here when I went. On the plus side, the food was actually delicious. In particular, their burgers and burritos. I really liked it because they gave you take-out style boxes so it was way easier to carry your good back to your room. Two other pluses (at least in Teeter, since I lived there) was that (1) the bathrooms were large and they supplied a microwave and fridge in the room. (2), in the dorm right in front of Teeter (forgot the name, apologies), there was a counseling center. Overall, my most memorable experiences were not really involving the community. Nobody really talked to me, and nobody really offered to take me to their church with them. Interactions seemed pretty fake to me. Extra Note: If you truly have no sure way of getting financially secured for a missions trip here, I would NOT recommend going on one with them. A lot of the people there who are missions majors will make it seem like they "trusted God" for funding, but their parents/grandparents/church (especially pastor's or missionary kids) will already have thousands of dollars saved up to go. They convinced me I would be able to go to Vietnam through "prayer" and "fasting" and also told me that they would help me fund, but they didn't help me with anything. During "call night" (when you call family members or anyone who can help with your trip), there were spoiled kids sitting all around me saying how they were fully funded and that their grandparents posted about their trip in church and they got loads of money from that. It was humiliating. So just make sure you know what you're getting into before falling for the "don't worry about money" trap. They'll let you sit with the team right up until the last deadline and then you have the tough conversation about not being able to go.
