I'm sure this isn't the right avenue to review this, but I had the pleasure of seeing The Addams…read moreFamily last night at Kings High School. Let me preface this by saying: I'm not a fanboy parent or really a huge fan of live theater, plays, etc. in general. All things, considered: I. WAS. WOWED. Correct me if I am wrong but many of these "kids" performances were basically pre-Broadway if not already well beyond professional quality. Do they also perform at Kings Island? Pretty much every aspect of the production was stunning: crystal clear audio, vivid visual effects, neat costume concepts and props. And then the choreography and dance; I cannot even describe how talented the dancing was. I really do get that I am not super privy to the inside world of music/ theater but I feel like the dancing and staging of this show was so on point. I think it's easy with a high school production to think, "okay, this is a little bit cringe, but hey, they're kids and they're trying." Honest to God - not this time. I never once even dreamed I was watching a high school level production... no excuses or concessions needed to be made: they were just damned good. One thing that I have to mention is the mostly-student pit orchestra. In high school I was probably the worst musician ever (I was in marching band and orchestra). While I wasn't particularly good myself, I do know talent when I see it. The music was essentially flawless and I think it was a bit under-recognized how high tier these student musicians were performing. They made the music score seem effortless (and trust me, I have been there and know it isn't) so I can only imagine if some of these students are on the path to be pro musicians someday. How amazing to see a community that takes such pride in their performing arts. From the dancing, music, acting perspectives it was great to see that everyone was being valued and appreciated in their own role for contributing to the final product. I really loved that a point was made that many of these kids will go on and do completely unrelated things - business, writing, engineering - but that doesn't mean they aren't damned good at performing too. I guess truly capable people tend to turn everything they touch into gold. This "review" of KHS is a bit abstract in that it's a review of the product of their theatre. Do I expect anyone will actually get on Yelp and see this? No. I guess if someday, maybe years later, someone from the show finds this it will be worth taking the time to reflect. To you: congratulations on such an impeccable show. The humor, visuals, music, dancing and acting make me so happy that places like Kings aren't just good at academics but also value art and culture. Keep it up. All of the hard work has clearly paid off.

Be aware!!! When you register with them , you will have to…read moreprepay the last month(May) tuition and the registration document says"May tuition may be refundable when the slot is filled" .You'll think if that's the only financial stake if the preschool doesn't work out you can probably afford it. Well you will see Since we quit 4 months ago, the director has been hounding me for the "tuition".First she said if you don't pay we can't guarantee you a spot when you come back , then she decided she want it all. She said see the next clause in the registration says "parents pay tuition on the first of every month through April" , we said we might refund you the May tuition, but you still need to keep paying all the rest months. so quit or not just hand in your money. Although their tuition is monthly based and no where in the document says tuition is school year bonded paid monthly installment, She insisted the clause"parents pay tuition on the first of every month through April" stands true by itself. The monthly Tuition is payment for education you received ,when you are not a student what is " tuition" for? As for the prepaid May tuition that was said possibly refundable, don't count on it. With 3 ~ 4 head count in a class, even if there is a new comer, he won't fall into your vacant slot. Although they are certainly not in business to make it a pleasant family experience, I am not saying their program is totally worthless. My child enjoyed it when he was there. But honestly if you live in( or are moving to) Mason, with a parent stay home, preschool doesn't make any sense. The 2 .5 hrs a day kindergarten is just gonna be another year of preschool. With kings Island at the door step, union terminal museum center 30 mins away, Cincinnati zoo 15 mins away there is plenty things to do for little ones. If you want to give your preschooler some social and educational enrichment, Mason library has wonderful story time program. Mason Community Center is very kids friendly and they also provide some session based preschooler enrichment classes. It does not make any sense to tie down you daily schedule to the 2.5 hrs span drop-off and pick up hustle.

A naturally shy girl, her experience at Showbiz has helped her find her inner confidence and provides her with an artistic outlet that I know will serve her well in life regardless of what path she chooses. Kristie Eckman's artistic talent, teaching acumen, infectious good humor, and amazing patience have helped mold her students into confident, award winning dancers. The studio itself is easy to find in t he Landen shopping center. The classroom is a large setup with plenty of room for students to work on routines as a group or spread out and express themselves during solos. A comfortable lounge area up front for the parents to relax while the little ones learn. The cost per class is very affordable and the diversity of available styles such as tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop let you or your child experiment from year to year to find what speaks to you. Showbiz also boasts one of the most award winning competitive dance teams in the area. In 2010, our teams traveled the region scoring amongst the top in virtually every category entered, including one remarkable performance by a dancer who managed to take 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd in the same category (yes, three different solos). The team's performance at Nationals in New Jersey this past summer was equally fulfilling, further cementing in my mind that there is no other studio in the Tri-State I would take my daughter.
